Capacitors are known as condensers. They play an important in the industrial site because of benefits such as var support, improved voltage control and power factor, increased system capacity, and reduction of system power losses. But capacitors can be seriously affected by bad power quality such as transient and impulsive overvoltage, overload, harmonics. Capacitor standards and application guides are revised or supplemented by speedy technology advancements in the manufacturing of capacitors and in the power electronics. This paper presents various illustrations and comparison for several standards of power system capacitors.

In recent years, behavioral disorders of young people and juvenile delinquency tend to increase remarkably in number, and closed up highly as a social and educational problems in Korea. It goes without saying that parents generally play important roles in children's development of personality, and the home is mostly responsible for juvenile delinquency. Therefore, first this paper describes a relation between broken family and juvenile delinquents. Burt, Shideler, Neumayer, and Glueck maintain that broken family is a cause of delinquency, on the other hand, Healy and Sutherland assume a critical attitude toward their contentions. Second, Breckinridge, Merril, and Glueck maintain that poor family is as cause of delinquency, while Sullenger, Neumayer, and Dirksen make a considerable point which poverty has no direct connection with delinquency. Third, abnormal family relationships namely, discord family, abnormal parent-child relationship, and immoral family exert a bad influence upon formation of personality, esepecialy during the period of preschool childhood. These results give some empirical support to the theory that children's conduct disorders and juvenile delinquency are caused by defective family relationships. It is necessary that a community has a supporting structure of children's wholesome development and the prevention of juvenile delinquency.

Genomic approach produces massive amount of data within a short time period, New high-throughput automatic sequencers can generate over a million nucleotide sequence information overnight. A typical DNA chip experiment produces tens of thousands expression information, not to mention the tens of megabyte image files, These data must be handled automatically by computer and stored in electronic database, Thus there is a need for systematic approach of data collection, processing, and analysis. DNA sequence information is translated into amino acid sequence and is analyzed for key motif related to its biological and/or biochemical function. Functional genomics will play a significant role in identifying novel drug targets and diagnostic markers for serious diseases. As an enabling technology for functional genomics, bioinformatics is in great need worldwide, In Korea, a new functional genomics project has been recently launched and it focuses on identi☞ing genes associated with cancers prevalent in Korea, namely gastric and hepatic cancers, This involves gene discovery by high throughput sequencing of cancer cDNA libraries, gene expression profiling by DNA microarray and proteomics, and SNP profiling in Korea patient population, Our bioinformatics team will support all these activities by collecting, processing and analyzing these data.

The distribution and abundance of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba), particularly in the South Atlantic, has traditionally been viewed as primarily determined by the flow of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. Krill are viewed as being particles on a conveyor belt that carries them around the Antarctic continent resulting in a single circumpolar population. The evidence to support this viewpoint is largely circumstantial and there is very little direct evidence available of krill being moved by the currents-krill flux. There is also considerable biological and physical evidence which suggests that other factors may play a dominant role in the life history and distribution of krill. This review examines the evidence fur krill flux and also examines evidence that does not accord with this theory. The management implications of assuming krill flux are outlined and some lines for future research are suggested.

As a society rapidly advances in technology and industry, various demands for information arc increasing and becoming more specialized than every before. The college library can no longer restrict its service to the people or, the campus alone. There is no fundamental change in its place on a college campus, but it has an additional role to play: to meet the demands for information from the community outside of the campus. Thyre is no denying that there are public libraries meant to serve the comnlunity and some small spacialized libraries to support certain institutions. But it is also well known that these libraries are inadequate to satisfy the demands for information in a highly diversified and specialized soceity of today largely due to lack of facilities, funds. and personnel. Under these circdmstances, it is almost imperative that the college library open its door to the community. It was attempted in the article to point out the nccds of cooperation between the college library and the community for economic and intellectual advancement on thc campus and in the community. Various ways of making the college library available to the community werc also discussed.

Synchronization between media is an important aspect in the design of multimedia streaming system. This paper proposes a precise media synchronization mechanism for digital video and audio transport over IP networks. To support synchronization between video and audio bitstreams transported over IP networks, RTP/RTCP protocol suite is usually employed. To provide a precise mechanism for media synchronization between video and audio, we suggest an efficient media synchronization algorithm based on NPT (Normal Play Time) which can be derivable from the timestamp information in the header part of RTP packet generated for the transport of video and audio streams. With the proposed method, we do not need to send and process any RTCP SR (sender report) packet which is required for conventional media synchronization scheme, and accordingly could reduce the number of required UDP ports and the amount of control traffic injected into the network.

This thesis has a research focus in effectively Practicing cooperative instruction where teacher-librarians play a role. The cooperative Instruction means to practice cooperatively with the subject teachers and teacher-librarians, in teaching subject matters(Korean, English, Social studies. Science, History, and so forth), using the school library. This thesis presents three steps by theory-model-support for a practice method through developing a cooperative instruction model. This is based on curriculum which is an axis of school education and an instructional design theory which is a base theory for subject matters.

For Video on Demand(VoD) servers, a design of an efficient scheduler is important to the support a large number of clients having various playback speeds and receiving rates. In this paper, we propose the scheduling algorithm to handle establishing deadlines and selection using the earliest deadline first. To establish deadlines and selections, the period of the receiving rates for each client is located between the over-max receiving rate and the over-playback rate. To avoid video starvation and the buffer overflow of each client, the proposed algorithm guarantees providing the admission control. Because of establishing deadlines and selection, period of each client receiving is between one over max receiving rate and one over play back rate. Using Virtual Buffer in server, scheduling load is reduced. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is verified using a Petri Net_Based simulation tool, Exspect.

This study examines which factors are urging Korean companies to participate in e-marketplaces. By adding interorganizational factors, we extended an innovation-theory-based research model that is often applied to study the information technology adoption. 71 questionnaires from 720 Korean manufacturing companies were collected. Independent variables of the research were environmental, organizational, innovation, and interorganizational characteristics. We found that the environmental characteristics, innovation characteristics, and interorganizational characteristics have insignificant effect on the participation of domestic companies in e-marketplaces whereas the organizational characteristics have significant relationship with the participation in e-marketplaces. The result implies that many Korean companies take wait-and-see strategy in the forming stage of e-marketplaces, However, IT infrastructure and the support of top management for IT play very important role in adopting e-marketplaces.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the business performance determinants of private consulting firms supporting bottom-up local development projects in rural areas. Under the shortage of well-trained rural development professionals, Private consulting firms support rural development projects driven by the residents. Considering the important role for consulting firms to play in the success in rural development projects, it becomes necessary to review the circumstances of consulting market on rural development projects. This study targeted 80 companies that are listed in the book rural development consulting firms. Analysis showed that factors influencing the business performance are not professional competencies but other external factors. The implications based on the above results need to be considered for policy-making to ensure that consulting company selection must be guaranteed of the consulting firms'capability by detailed fields of consulting firms' capability, and the training system for rural development experts must be formed.
