A Case of Therapy-related Myelodysplastic Syndrome after FOLFOX4 Chemotherapy in Advanced Gastric Cancer

  • Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum compound widely used to treat gastrointestinal malignancy. One of the major side effects of oxaliplatin is thrombocytopenia, the development of which can limit appropriate treatment. We report a 38-year-old man with advanced gastric cancer who developed severe thrombocytopenia after FOLFOX4 (oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and fluorouracil) chemotherapy. The thrombocytopenia was associated with therapy-related myelodysplastic syndrome after cytotoxic chemotherapy and was confirmed by bone marrow biopsy and genetic study. Therefore, physicians should be aware of therapy-related hematologic complications, especially with an oxaliplatin-based chemoregimen, and might consider the bone marrow study in those patients.

백서를 이용한 후두 유발 근전도 검사 방법에 대한 연구 (Study of Laryngeal Evoked Electromyography Method in Rats)

  • Laryngeal evoked EMG is the objective and quantitative method to measure the innervation of laryngeal muscle. If there is a mobility disorder of vocal cords, the cause and location of neural lesion co be understood by the laryngeal evoked EMG and if there is a vocal cord paralysis, the degree of recovery and the policy of treatment can be determined by it. Recently, the studies of reinnervation after recurrent laryngeal nerve injury have been actively carried out. Laryngeal evoked EMC is useful to these studies. The aim of study is to know whether noninvasive methods for stimulating the recurrent laryngeal nerve and for recording of compound action potential(CAP) using surface electrode are as useful as the invasive method using needle electrode. We obtained EMG of laryngeal muscle by various stimulating and recording methods : 1) Direct nerve stimulation by placing nerve cuff electrode made out of silastic tube and platinum wire and recording by insertion of hook wire electrode into posterior cricoarytenoid(PCA) and thyroarytenoid(TA) muscles, respectively. 2) Recording of compound action potential by surface electrode after stimulation of recurrent laryngeal nerve by the insertion of 27 gauge of needle electrode. 3) Recording of compound action potential by surface electrode after stimulating the recurrent laryngeal nerve by transcutaneous blunt rod electrode at tracheoesophageal groove. The amplitude, duration and latency of the CAP evoked by recurrent laryngeal nerve stimulation were compared among the three groups. The amplitude of CAP was smallest in the group recorded from posterior cricoarytenoid and hyroarytenoid muscle, and that recorded by surface electrode after stimulation by needle electrode was largest. The difference in amplitude between the group by hook wire recording and the two groups by surface electrode recording was significant statistically. There is no significant difference in duration and latency among three groups. Since the waveform of CAP from all three methods has similar duration, latency, we concluded that noninvasive method is a useful as invasive methods.

인지질 화합물의 나노 Langmuir-Blodgett막의 전기화학적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrochemical Characteristics of Langmuir-Blodgett Nano-Films of Phospholipid Compound)

  • 우리는 순환전압전류법에 의한 LB 필름에 대한 전기화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 인지질 화합물은 ITO glass에 Langmuir-Blodgett법을 사용하여 제막하였다. 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 및 2.0 N $NaClO_4$ 용액에서 3 전극 시스템 (Ag/AgCl 기준전극, 백금선 카운터 전극 및 LB 필름이 코팅된 ITO 작업전극)으로 순환전압전류법을 사용하여 전기화학적 측정을 시도하였다. 측정 범위는 연속적으로 1650 mV로 산화시키고, 초기전위인 -1350 mV로 환원시켰다. 그 결과, 인지질 화합물의 LB 필름은 순환전압전류도표로부터 오직 산화전류로 인한 비가역공정으로 나타났다. LB 필름의 확산계수(D) 효과는 인지질 화합물 양의 증가로 인하여 감소하였다.

에틸렌디아민을 배위자로 한 백금(II)착체의 토끼 및 인체 신장세포에 대한 in vitro 독성 (In Vitro Cytotoxicity of Pt(II) Complexes Containing Ethylenediamine in Rabbit Kidney Proximal Tubular and Human Renal Cortical Cells)

  • This laboratory has recently reported the synthesis and in vitro antitumor activity of PT(II) complexes containing ethylenediamine and diphosphine. In view of the reports of others, cisplatin is toxic to the kidney since the kidney's vulnerability to PT(II) complexes may originate in its ability to accumulate and retain platinum to a greater degree than other organs. The in vitro cytotoxicity of these synthetic PT(II) complexes on the primary cultured proximal tubular cells of rabbit kidney and renal cortical cells of human kidney was investigated. Three endpoints for cytotoxicity tests were evaluated:3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT), $^3H$-thymidine uptake and the glucose consumption tests. The rank order of sensitivity exhibited $^3H$-thymidine uptake>MTT>glucose consumption test. The agents with diphosphine leaving group were significantly less cytotoxic than cisplatin. Moreover, 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (DPPE) exhibited less cytotoxicity than 1.3-bis (diphenylphosphino)propane (DPPP) against on rabbit and human cultured kidney cells. Based on these results, the decreased nephrotoxicity of these new complexes over cisplatin appeared to be partially attributable to a leaving group of DPPP and DPPE. This novel class of platinum compound represents a valuable lead in the development of a "third-generation" agent.

Microstructural properties of Pt-doped $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ high $T_c$ superconductor prepared by melting method.

  • We have studied the effect of platinum addition on the supercon ducting properties of YB $a_2$C $u_3$$O_{7-x}$ (123) compound and elucidated the mechanism of fine dispersion of $Y_2$BaCu $O_{5}$(211) particles in YB $a_2$C $u_3$$O_{7-x}$ superconductor prepared by melting method from the metallurgical point of view. In this study, BaCu $O_2$ and CuO-rich phase unreacted during the peritecitc reaction markedly decreased by the 211 powder addition. The 211 particle of Pt-fee sintered samples exhibited 8~10$\mu$m in size, but in 1wt%Pt-added sample, 211 particles were finely dispersed in 123 matrix and the size of 211 particle was about 1~2$\mu$m. And, the critical temperature( $T_{c. zero}$) of Pt doped samples was 91.5K and the transport critical current density ( $J_{c}$) of Pt-doped samples was much more than 10$^4$A/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The high $J_{c}$ and fine dispersion of 211 particles of Pt doped YB $a_2$C $u_3$$O_{7-x}$ superconductor are attributed to $Ba_4$CuP $t_2$ $O_{8}$ compounds formed during the partial melting, which were considered als nucleation sites of 211 particles, rather than Pt inself.han Pt inself.

  • 1,1'-Bis(dimethylsilyl)ferrocene과 다양한 aldehydes를 소량의 Ni(PEt3)4 촉매하에서 반응시켰을 경우 hydrosilylation 반응에 의한 비고리형의 monohydrosilylation 된 생성물이 얻어졌다. 그러나 촉매를 Ni(PEt3)4 대신에 (C2H4)Pt(PPh3)를 사용한 경우에는 고리형의 double silylation 된 6각 고리 생성물이 얻어졌다. 특히 Pt 촉매하에서 4-cyanobenzaldehyde silylation 반응은 double silylation 된 5,6-ferrocenylene-1,1,4,4-tetramethyl-2-oxa-2-cyanophenyl-1,4-disilacyclohexane의 결정을 얻었다.

순환회분식 광촉매시스템의 영향인자 연구: 광촉매 주입량, 용존산소, 체류시간,전자포획 첨가금속 (Factors influencing a Photocatalytic System in Circulating Batch Mode: Photocatalyst Dosage, DO, Retention Time and Metal Impurities)

  • A selected halogenated organic contaminant, monochlorophenol was successfully degraded by photocatalytic reaction in a circulating batch system. The photocatalytic degradation in most cases follows first-order kinetics. The photocatalytic reaction rate increased in the $TiO_2$ dosage range of 0.1 g/L to 0.4 g/L, then decreased with further increase of the dosage. Also the degradation rate increased over the range of the retention time from 0.49 min. to 0.94 min., then decreased with further increase of the retention time in the circulating batch reactor. The photocatalytic activity was enhanced by addition of metal impurities, platinum(Pt) and palladium(Pd) onto the photocatalysts. The photocatalytic degradation rate increased with the increase of Pt and Pd in the content range of 0 to 2wt %, then decreased with further increase of the metal contents. Therefore the metal loading to $TiO_2$ influence the degradation rate of a halogenated organic compound by acting as electron traps, consequently reducing the electron/positive hole pair recombination rate.

Synthesis and Electrochemical Studies of Cu(II) and Ni(II) Complexes with Tetradentate Schiff Base Ligands

  • A series of tetradentate Schiff-base ligands; 1,3-bis(salicylideneimino) propane, 1,4-bis(salicylideneimino)butane, and 1,5-bis(salicylideneimino)pentane, and their Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes have been synthesized. The properties of ligands and complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, UV-Vis spectra, molar conductance, and thermogravimetric anaylsis. The mole ratio of Schiff base to metal at complexes was found to be 1 : 1. All complexes were four-coordinated configuration and non-ionic compound. The electrochemical redox processes of the ligands and their complexes in DMF solution containing 0.1 M TEAP as supporting electrolyte have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode, and by controlled potential coulometry at platinum gauze electrode. The redox process of the ligands was highly irreversible, whereas redox process of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes was observed as one electron transfer process of quasi-reversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. Also the electrochemical redox potentials of complexes were affected by chelate ring size of ligands. The diffusion coefficients of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes in DMF solution were determined to be 4.2-6.6×10-6 cm2/sec. Also the exchange rate constants were determined to be 3.6-9.7×10-2 cm/sec.

  • 4-(${\beta}$-Guanidinoethyl)-17${\alpha}$-methyl-4-aza-5${\alpha}$-androstan-17${\beta}$-ol(V)을 합성하는데에 필요한 중간화합물인 17${\alpha}$-methyl-4-aza-5${\alpha}$-androstan-17${\beta}$-ol(IX)은 4단계를 거쳐 합성하였으며 IX을 chloroacetonitrile과 축합반응을 한후 $LiAlH_4$로서 환원하여 4-(${\beta}$-aminoethyl)-17${\alpha}$-methyl-4-aza-5${\alpha}$-androstan-17${\beta}$-ol(XI)을 얻었다. Tktle compound인 V은 3가지의 시약, 2-methyl-2-thiopseudourea,3,5-dimethylpyrazole-1-carboxamidine, cyanamide를 각각 XI와 반응시켜 좋은 수득률을 얻었다. 약리작용의 실험결과 V은 classical한 adrenergic neurone blocking agents와 유사하며 혈압강하제로서의 전망은 좋다고 예상된다.

7 Diethylaminocoumarin (DEAC) 레이져 염료의 광물리적 파라미터, 광분해, 형광 소광 및 Convolutive Voltammetry (Photophysical Parameters, Photodecomposition, Fluorescence Quenching and Convolutive Voltammetry of 7-Diethylaminocoumarin (DEAC) Laser Dye)

  • 7 diethylaminocoumarin (DEAC) 레이저 염료의 광물리적 특성들을 다양한 용매에서 측정하였다. DEAC의 방출 스펙트럼은 양이온성(CTAC) 미셀과 음이온성(SDS) 미셀에서 측정하였고, 레이저 파라미터는 아세톤, 다이옥산, 에탄올 및 dimethylforamide (DMF)과 같은 여러 가지 용매에 대하여 계산하였다. DEAC의 광반응성은 366 nm 빛을 사용하여 $CCl_4$ 용매에서 연구하였고, 광화학 수득률 (${\Phi}_c$)과 속도 상수(k)도 결정하였다. picric acid (PA), tetracyanoethylene (TCNE), 7,7,8,8-tetracynoquinonedimethane (TCNQ)등의 유기 수용체와 DEAC의 상호 작용에 대한 연구는 acetonitrile ($CH_3CN$) 용액에서 형광을 측정하므로 써 수행하였다. DEAC의 전기화학적 연구는 백금 전극을 사용하여 0.1 mol/L tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP)/$CH_3CN$ 용액에서 순환 전류-전압법, convolutive voltammetry 및 디지털 시뮬레이션을 조합하여 수행하였고, 전기화학 파라미터도 결정하였다.
