  • A fundamental study on the harvest-type ice storage system applied ice making method in-water and its temperature characteristics in ice storage system was performed experimentally of the charge and discharge of cold. This paper is concerned with the development of a new method for making and separating ice and saving floated ice by installing an evaporation plate at in-water within a storage tank. In a conventional harvest-type ice storage system, a tank saves ice by separating a formed ice from an installed evaporation plate, which is located above an ice storage tank as an ice storage system. A new harvest-type method shows very good heat transfer efficiency than a convectional method. It is because the evaporation panel is directly contacted with water in a storage tank. Also, at a conventional system a circulating pump, a circulating water distributor and a piping are installed, but these components are not necessary in a new method. In this study two kinds of ice storage systems are experimentally investigated to study the thermal characteristics of ice storage tanks.

  • Environmentally friendly, stencil and screen printing for cost-effective for maskless. In this study, UV -LED light source for the dispersion characteristics and high competence photoresist coating was prepared. Wavelength of 365nm UV-LED exposure device using the maskless lithography, 1.7kgf/$cm^2$ $2600mmH_2O$ the injection pressure and the suction pressure by using a dry photoconductor symptoms were dry emulsion on the market as a result, curing properties and adhesion, hardness, solvent resistance and excellent reproduction of fine patterns and ecological stencil technology was available and could be confirmed as a possibility.

  • This paper deals with development of expert process planning system which automatically generates process plan for manufacturing parts of injection mold. The specific domain of study is two-plate injection mold without support plate. Decision making rules for selection of machining processes machine tools, cutting tools and for determination of sequence of machining operations are acquired by interview of skilled process planner. The developed expert process planning system is programmed by using expert system shell CLIPS on the IBM PC/AT. The proposed system works well to real problems.

  • This paper will introduce the development case study about virtual-reality-based operation training system for steel making process. Steel making process consist iron making process to create liquid steel, pig iron, by reduction process, steel making process to make molten steel by refining, continuous casting process to make slab, and rolling process to make final product like coil, plate. This steel making process deals with liquid and solid products, so facilities of steel making process are very various and complicated. In addition, according to various customer requirements, the recycle of facilities and recipes changing have been fast. So the training for skilled operators is very important point. In this paper, we develop steel making training system based virtual reality for training skilled operator. This system consists of virtual machine, virtual HMI, and virtual control panel. And for fitting the characteristics of each process and increasing the education effectiveness, we develop dynamic methods like the method of dynamic education system configuration, initial facilities setup operation education system, and etc.

  • Jet impingement on a moving plate, which is applicable to cooling of hot metals in a steel-making process, is investigated numerically by solving the Navier-Stokes equations in the liquid and gas phases. The liquid-gas interface or free surface is tracked by a level-set method which is improved by incorporating the ghost fluid approach based on a sharp-interface representation. The computations are made for multiple jets as well as a single jet to compare their flow characteristics. Also, the effects of the nozzle pitch, moving velocity of plate and jet velocity on the interfacial motion and the associated flow and temperature fields.

  • Up to the present studies of the car number recognition system, it is generally known to have serious problems such as relatively long processing time due to the excessive length of data extracted from the number plate based on the current image characteristics, and the image blurring with the physical damage of the brightness and darkness signals of the number plate caused by external impulses with many difficulties in the extraction of the highlighted numbers. In this Paper we used the characteristics firstly having a constant brightness of number plate, and a high density to the horizontal axis, and the influences of highlighted signal could be reduced by making reflections less through the polarized filter on the camera for any highlighted signal. For the more, the data processing time and the noise reduction are effectively implemented by using the wavelet transform of time-space scale with the considerations on the physical loss and processing time.

  • The study is an experimental test on full-scale flat plate slab-column interior connection. The punching shear on the flat plate slab-column connection can bring about the reason of the brittle punching shear failure which may result of collapsing the whole structure. From the development of residential flat plate system, the shear reinforcement is developed for preventing the punching shear. For making sure of the punching shear capacity, developed for shear reinforcement in slab-column connection, the structural test is performed. The dimension of the slabs was 2620*2725*180mm with square column (600*800mm). The slabs were tested up to failure monotonic vertical shear forces. The presences of S/S bar and wire mesh substantially increased the punching shear capacity and the ductility of the slab-column connections.

  • The present work aims to analyzed the transient thermoelastic stress analysis of a thin circular plate with uniform internal heat generation. Initially, the plate is characterized by a parabolic temperature distribution along the z-direction given by T = T0(r, z) and perfectly insulated at the ends z = 0 and z = h. For times t > 0, the surface r = a is subjected to convection heat transfer with convection coefficient hc and fluid temperature T. The integral transform method used to obtain the analytical solution for temperature, displacement, and thermal stresses. The associated thermoelastic field is analyzed by making use of the temperature and thermoelastic displacement potential function. Numerical results are carried out with the help of computational software PTC Mathcad Prime-3.1 and shown in figures.

Free vibration of laminated composite plates in thermal environment using a simple four variable plate theory

  • A simple solution for free vibration of cross-ply and angle-ply laminated composite plates in a thermal environment is investigated using a basic trigonometric shear deformation theory. By application of trigonometric four variable plate theory, the transverse displacement is subdivided into bending and shear components, the present theory's number of unknowns and governing equations is reduced, making it easier to use. Hamilton's Principle is extended to derive the equations of motion of the plates using Navier's double trigonometric series, a closed-form solution is obtained; the primary conclusion is that simple solution is obtained with good results accuracy when compared with previously published results, and the natural frequency will differ depending on, environment temperature, thickness ratio, and lamination angle, as well as the aspect ratio of the plate.

Bulletproof Performance of Hybrid Plates using a Composite Laminated with Abalone Shell Fragments (전복껍질 메소절편 기반 복합소재 합판 제작 및 이를 이용한 하이브리드 판재의 방탄특성)

  • Nacre of abalone shell features a "brick-and-mortar" microstructure, in which micro-plates of calcium carbonate are bonded by nanometers-thick layers of chitin and proteins. Due to the microstructure and its unique toughening mechanisms, nacre possesses an excellent combination of specific strength, stiffness and toughness. This study deals with the possibility of using nacre fragments obtained from abalone shell for making a bulletproof armor system. A composite plate laminated with abalone shell fragments is made and compression and bend tests are carried out. In addition, a bulletproof test is performed with hybrid armor systems which are composed of an alumina plate, a composite plate, and aramid woven fabric to verify the ballistic performance of nacre. The compressive strength of the composite plate is around 258.3 MPa. The bend strength and modulus of the composite plate decrease according to the plate thickness and are about 149.2 MPa and 50.3 GPa, respectively, for a 4.85 mm thick plate. The hybrid armor system with a planar density of $45.2kg/m^2$, which is composed of an 8 mm thick alumina plate, a 2.4 mm thick composite plate, and 18 layers of aramid woven fabric, satisfy the NIJ Standard 0101.06 : 2008 Armor Type IV. These results show that a composite plate laminated with abalone shell fragments can be used for a bulletproof armor system as an interlayer between ceramic and fabric to decrease the armor system's weight.
