The mechanical properties and optical micrographs are studied for rolled magnesium alloy sheet with hexagonal close packed structure(HCP) at room and elevated temperatures. Tensile properties such as tensile strength, elongation, R-value and n-value are also measured for AZ31 magnesium alloy. Magnesium with strong texture of basal plane parallel to the rolling direction usually has high R-value and plastic anisotropy at room temperature. As temperature increases, the R-value for AZ31 magnesium sheet decreases. In addition, the AZ31 sheet becomes isotropy and recrystallization above $200^{\circ}C$. Formability of magnesium alloy sheets remarkably poor at room temperature is improved by increasing temperature. Sheet forming of magnesium alloy is practically possible only at high temperature range where plastic anisotropy disappears.
A small amount of cement can be added to the soil with high water content to improve its engineering properties. It is difficult to point out the exact time when liquified state of soil is transformed into semi-plastic or plastic states when high water content soil is hydrated by cement. In this study fall cone penetration are used to explain the phase change and compactable status of soil cement. And engineering properties of soil cement compacted in plastic state are investigated. Results reveal that fall cone penetration depth of 1mm or less is judged to a compactable state of soil-cement. Permeability and CBR values of soil cement increased with mixing ratio increased.
Optical properties in injection molded plastic lenses for mobile phone camera have been simulated using commercial program, 3D TIMON. Four plastic lenses are being used in mobile phone camera. The quality of photographs taken by mobile phone camera is strongly depends upon optical characteristics of lenses. The variety of optical properties has been investigated according to the injection conditions through the computer simulation. Consequently optimal injection conditions for four lenses have been determined and simulation results of birefringence have been compared with experiments.
Recently, various concrete reinforcing fibers have been used to reduce the plastic shrinkage cracking which occurs before the concrete hardens. In this study, the physical properties of nylon fiber reinforced concrete such as slump, air content, compressive strength and tensile strength were investigated. In addition, the performance of nylon fiber in the plastic shrinkage cracking reduction of mortar has been estimated in comparison with polypropylene fiber and cellulose fiber. Nylon fiber showed considerable advantages in terms of the workability of concrete and the plastic shrinkage cracking reduction of mortar compared with polypropylene fiber and cellulose fiber.

In internal combustion engines the usual material for the cylinder liner is because of its good wear resistance Apparently this wear resistance arises from the at iron to form a hard glazed surface when under sliding friction. When the cylinder liner wear limits, it shall be replace with new one according to the classification soci manufacturer's standards. However, adoption of alternative repairing method such a metalizing, thermo plastic deformation process became inevitable taking enormous cost renewal into consideration. In this paper. the material properties of cylinder liner of grey discussed on the basis of the results of experimental work of the thermo plastic deformation the worn out cylinder liner made of grey cast iron.
A plastically deformed layer in the precision machined surface affects in various forms the physical properties of machined components such as the fatigue strength, the dimensional instability, microcracks and the stress corrosion cracking. These physical properties, so called surface integrity, are very important for designing highly stressed and critically loaded components. Typical plastic strains in the precision machined surface are very difficult to measure, since they are located within a very short distance from the surface and they change very rapidly. A new way is suggested to determine the residual strain in plastically deformed materials by analyzing the plastically deformed layer after a subsequent recrystallization process. This investigation is to explore a new technique for measuring plastic strain in machining applications, and in particular, to and the effect of cutting parameters(rake angle, depth of cut, specific cutting energy), on the plastic strains and strain energy.
Purpose: Silicone gel sheet(SGS) is used for preventing and treating keloid or hypertrophic scars. Because the product is weak in tear strength and adherence, it requires several replacements, which requires high cost. As a solution for this problem, we developed a new silicone gel sheet, named as Scar Clinic, and confirmed its physical properties. Methods: Tensile strength, elongation rate, adhesiveness, and water vapor transmission rate were experimentally compared between the most commonly used SGS product and the Scar Clinic. Results: The newly developed SGS showed better results compared to the existed SGS in regards to tensile strength, elongation rate, adhesiveness, and water vapor transmission rate. Conclusion: The Scar Clinic showed higher durability and flexibility. It will be a useful product for treating scars clinically.
Drawability and other mechanical properties of sheet metals are strongly dependent on their crystallographic orientations. In this paper the formability of the AA 5052 Al alloy sheets was investigated after asymmetric rolling and subsequent heat treatment. In most cases, after asymmetric rolling specimens showed a fine grain size and subsequent heat treated specimens showed that the ND // <111> texture component were observed. The anisotropy of formability is often described by the plastic strain ratios (r-value) as a function of the angle to the rolling direction in sheet metal. For a good formability, a high r-value is required in sheet metals. In the asymmetry rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheet, the variation of the plastic strain ratios have been investigated in this study, The plastic strain ratios of the asymmetry rolled and subsequent heat treated AA 5052 Al alloy sheets were higher than those of the original Al sheets. These could be related to the formation of ND // <111> texture components through asymmetric rolling in Al sheet.

In order to select a new material for a heat exchanger, the frosting behavior of a thermally conductive plastic based on PBT was compared to the frosting behavior of aluminum and three types of plastics based on PTFE. The frosting behavior on the 1 mm thick PBT specimen was similar to that of the aluminum specimen but not that of the pure PTFE specimen. The properties of the frost formed on the specimens were affected by both the thermal conductivity and surface characteristics of the materials. The heat and mass transfer rates of the thermally conductive plastic were almost equivalent to those of the aluminum specimen.
In this paper, forward and reverse analysis is introduced in order to estimate the elastic-plastic properties from a power-law hardening bulk specimen materials with one simple spherical indentation impression test. In order to verify the reliability of the reverse analysis, we have simulated about a large range of materials that essentially cover all engineering materials, using ABAQUS(6.91) program. Then, we could obtained the fitting functions and plastic parameters from the numerical analysis results. Next, through the procedure of reverse analysis we can obtain the yield stress and power-law exponent. Finally, obtain good agreement between the result from reverse analysis and initial input data from experiment.
