  • This paper describes nonlinear 4th order models for a natural circulation drum-boiler. The models lire derived from energy balance and mass balance principles. They can be characterized by a few physical parameters that are easily obtained from construction data. The models also require steam tables for a limited operating range, which can be approximated by polynomials. The models have been validated against real plant operating data.

  • In this paper, the robustness of self turning controller on the continuous time-delay system is investigated. The polynomial identification method using continuous time exponentially weighted least square algorithm is used for estimating the time.-delay system parameters. The pole-zero and pole placement method are adopted for the control algorithm. On considering the control weighting factor and reliability filter the effect of unmodeled dynamics of the plant are examined by the simulation.

  • Pretreatment technologies are defined as technologies that prepare or condition dredged material for subsequent, more rigorous treatment processes. The objectives of this study are to test the feasibility of treating dredged sediment using pretreatment process(hydrocyclone, sedimentation basin, and flotation), and to estimate design parameters for a pilot-plant design. The final goal of the project is to recycle the dredged sediment that is otherwise reused as construction materials.

  • This paper studies on the model identification of electro-hydraulic servo systems, which are composed of servo valves, double-rod cylinder and load mass. The identified plant is described as a discrete-time ARX or ARMAX model which is respectively obtained from the identification algorithms of least square error method, instrumental variable method and prediction error method. where a nominal model and the variation of model parameters are quantitatively evaluated.

  • Rhus verniciflua Stokes (RVS) is a widely used herbal plant with various biological properties. Our previous study using in vitro platelet aggregation in whole blood showed that the fractions of RVS had strong anti-aggregatory activity. In this study, using in vitro platelet aggregation in PRP and coagulation parameters, to investigate the anti-platelet activity and anticagulant effects of RVS ethyl acetate layer, the layer was subsequently fractionated by ODS columm chromatograph (50% MeOH). • This paper presents a dynamical anti-reset windup (ARW) compensation method for saturating control systems with multiple controllers and/or multiloop configuration. By regarding the difference of the controller states in the absence and presence of saturating actuators as an objective function, the dynamical compensator which minimize the objective function are derived in an integrated fashion. The proposed dynamical compensator is a closed form of the plant and controller parameters. The proposed method guarantees total stability of resulting system. An illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The conventional sliding mode controller (SMCr) approach is often impractical or difficult when applied to high order process because the number of tuning parameters in the SMCr increases with the order of the plant. Camacho(1996) proposed the design of a fixed structure sliding mode controller based on a first order plus dead time approximation to the higher-order process. But, there are such problems as overshoot, settling time and command following. They are mainly due to the approximation errors of the time delay term by Taylor series. In this paper, in order to improve Camcho's method, a new Taylor approximation technique considering a weight is proposed.

  • This paper describes an optimal design method of VSI output filter for CVCF system. The cost function is used for design, and all parameters are described in p.u(per unit) so that can be adapted to the change of CVCF rating. The capacitor current feedback scheme is proposed to control the damping ratio of the filter plant to meet the system more stable. This means that the LC resonance can be suppressed well in transient condition and can use the same control gains under the change of system capacity. The validity of the proposed method is well verified with the theoretical analysis and simulation results.

  • All mechanical systems have saturation nonlinearity in actuators or in final control elements. When controllers have integral action, reset windup can cause instability as well as make the system performance unsatisfactory. In this study, an intelligent limiter which needs no tuning of parameters is tested with the PDF controller used for control of a second order plant. This paper presents analysis of the stability of the system using the describing function method and the Nyquist stability theorem. The improvement of the system performance by the limiter is illustrated by computer simulations.

  • In this paper, the optimal regulating algorithm are developed by adjusting the scaling - factor and estimating the linguistic control rule according to the results which are attaining from the first defined parameters, and the fuzzy level controller is realized usign the algorithm. The proposed controller apply to the fuzzied level control process, the cement grinding plant. The results shows that the control performance is greatly improved.
