  • In many imaging devices, a single image sensor is used, which is covered by a color filter array to filter out the specific color components from light. Since an image acquired from this image sensors have a color components at each pixel, it is needed to be reconstructed to a perfect image. In this paper, a new color interpolation method for the imaging devices having a single image sensor is proposed. The proposed method improves a edge sensing function to obtain satisfactory results in edges of an image, md presents a new inter-channel correlation for improving interpolation performance in smooth region. We have compared our method with several exiting methods, and our experimental results have proved better interpolation performance in comparing with the other results.

  • In order to achieve higher performance and low cost a-Si TFT-LCD panel, new material architecture and its process integration for a-Si TFT array manufacturing method were developed. Material combination of low resistant dry-etchable metal and new pixel electrode under currently adopted 4 mask process made it possible to get more-simplified manufacturing method and better device performance for the a-Si TFT-LCD application. Proposed 4 mask process architecture with optimized wet etchants and dry etching process was applicable to various devices such as notebook, monitor and TV.

  • Most commercial CCD/CMOS image sensors have CFA(Color Filter Array) where each pixel gathers light of a selective color to reduce the sensor size and cost. There are many algorithms proposed to reconstruct the original clolr image by adopting pettern recognition of regularization methods to name a few. However the resulting image still suffer from errors such as flase color, zipper effect. In this paper we propose an adaptive edge weight demosaicking algorithm that is based on POCS(Projection Onto Convex Sets) not only to improve the entire image's PSNR but also to reduce the edge region's errors that affect subjective image quality. As a result, the proposed algorithm reconstruct better quality images especially at the edge region.

  • In this paper, we present a novel integral imaging pickup method. We extract each pixel's actual depth data from a real object's surface using a depth camera, then generate elemental images based on the depth map. Since the proposed method generates elemental images without a lens array, it has simplified the pickup process and overcome some disadvantages caused by a conventional optical pickup process using a lens array. As a result, we can display a three-dimensional (3D) image in integral imaging. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, an experiment is presented. Though the pickup process has been simplified in the proposed method, the experimental results reveal that it can also display a full motion parallax image the same as the image reconstructed by the conventional method. In addition, if we improve calculation speed, it will be useful in a real-time integral imaging display system.

  • Each pixels become got pixel value for color of only one from among colors because of bayer pattern that light receiving device of image sensor which is used in HHP and digital camera writes only one color. Information of the missing pixels could infer perfect color image from using information of neighbor pixels by using CFA(Color Filter Array). In this paper, we derive relation between the average of the data from the light receiving device of image sensor and each color channel data. And by using this relation, a new efficient edge color fuzzy method for color interpolation is proposed. Also, missing luminance signal channel interpolation was fuzzy interpolation along any edges direction for reducing color noise and interpolating efficiently it. And in this paper, the proposed method has been proved improving average 2.4dB than the conventional method by using PSNR. Also, resolution of the image of the proposed method was similar to the original image by visual images, we has been verified to be decreased a chromatic aberration than image of conventional algorithms with simulation result.

  • A UV camera is being used in various application regions such as industry, medical science, military, and environment monitoring. A ROIC(ReadOut IC) is developed and can read the responses from UV photodiode sensors which are made with III-V nitride semiconductors of GaN series haying high resolution and high efficiency. To design FPA(Focal Plane Array) UV $8{\times}8$ ROIC, the photodiode type sensor devices are modeled as the capacitor type ones. The ROIC reads out signals from the detector at)d outputs sequentially pixel signals after amplifying and noise filtering of them. The ROIC is fabricated using the $0.5{\mu}m$ 2Poly 3Metal N-well CMOS process. And then, it and photodiode array are hybrid bonded by gold stud bumping process using ACP(Anisotropic Conductive Paste). After the packaging, UV images appearing on PC verified the operations of the ROIC.

  • Antiscatter grids are widely used in radiography to remove scattered X-rays and thus improve the image contrast. However, the use of grids makes moir$\acute{e}$ artifact in the digital image, and this can be a critical reason for a mistaken diagnosis. In this paper, we examined that moire artifacts are how to relate with grid frequency, pixel pitch and grid rotation angle. To experiment we prepared 6 grids having different line frequencies (4.0 to 8.5lines/mm) and tested with a DR imager having a $139{\mu}m{\times}139{\mu}m$ pixel size. In the result of this experiment, we could get data about moir$\acute{e}$ artifact that could be make solution to remove the line artifact for the successful use of the grid in digital radiography. The acquired data and theory through this experiment, are expected to make contribution to the elimination of moir$\acute{e}$ artifact in the DR system.

  • In order to achieve excellent spatial resolution, very small scintillation pixels are used in detectors of positron emission tomography for small animals. However, by using these very small scintillation pixels, scintillation pixels at the edge of the array may overlap in a flood image. To solve this problem, a light guide capable of changing the distribution of light was used. Depending on the material of the light guide, the light spreading tendency is different, and accordingly, the presence or absence of overlapping is different depending on the material of the light guide used. In this study, instead of the conventional glass light guide, a detector using the same material as the scintillation pixel was designed. A scintillator light guide has a higher refractive index than a glass light guide, so the light spread is different. Flood images were acquired to evaluate the degree of separation of the scintillation pixels at the edge of the detector using the two light guides. The degree of separation was evaluated by calculating the distance between the center and the spatial resolution of the image of two scintillation pixels at the edge of the obtained flood image. As a result, when the scintillator light guide was used, better spatial resolution was shown, and the distance between centers of scintillation pixels was wider. When a detector is constructed using a scintillator light guide instead of a conventional glass light guide, it is possible to use a smaller scintillation pixel, thereby securing better spatial resolution.

  • Halftonig is a technique to create the appearance of intermideate tone levels by controlling the spatial distribution of the binary pixel values. Recently, many printing devices such as image setter, inkjet printer, laser printer and facsimile, generate image, they require the technique. Ordered dither is achieved comparing the gray scale image to periodic array. This method is fast, but it occurs periodic patterns. Conentional error diffusion generates a good image. But processing speed is very slow and appeares worm artifacts in middle tone scale. To improve it, Bns(Blue noise Screen) is developed based on Gaussian distribution. In this paper, we discribe methods to design BNS based human visual characteristics and to improve blue appearing at edge area of image by USM(using unsharp mask).
