연초 수확엽의 숙도가 색채 및 색소물질 함량에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Maturity on the Plastid Pigments and Chromatic Characteristics of Paddy Tobacco)

  • Field experiment was conducted to get the basic information about the difference in color and plastid pigments at the different stage of harvest of flue-cured tobacco cultivated in paddy field, and compared to upland ones. All tested crops were primed in lots of 3 to 4 at each priming, beginning at the bottom of the plant. Leaf pigments and chromatic values of tobacco leaves were determined in samples collected at weekly intervals, and according to analyses obtained from 4 stalk positions. By the degree of maturity, leaves harvested were separated with visual characters into four classes of immature, mature, ripe and mellow. regardless of stalk position, chlorophyll contents was higher in the order of immature > mature > ripe > mellow, respectively. In fresh leaves, chlorophyll levels was higher with ascending stalk position. chlorophyll a and b in cured leaves were less than 10% of the amount present at harvest, and it was estimated that maturity condition also influenced the rates of degradation of plastid pigments. Fully mature leaves of upland diverted from paddy field showed slightly higher in chlorophyll contents than in those of upland tobacco ones but somewhat lowered in $L^*$ and $b^*$ values, and there was no difference in $a^*$ value.

Identification and quantification of anthocyanin pigments in colored rice

  • Anthocyanin pigments from varieties of black, red and wild rice were identified and quantified to evaluate their potential as nutritional function, natural colorants or functional food ingredients. Anthocyanin extraction was conducted with acidified methanol with 0.1M HCl (85:15, v/v) and identification of anthocyanin, aglycone and sugar moieties was conducted by comparison with purified standards by HPLC, Ultraviolet-Visible absorption spectrophotometer and paper chromatography. Black and wild rice showed three different types of pigments by HPLC whereas red rice variety did not show any anthocyanins. Out of three pigments detected, one (peak 2) was characterized as cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) by comparison of spectroscopic and chromatographic properties with an authentic standard, and another (peak 3) was tentatively identified as cyanidin-fructoside on the basis of spectroscopic properties with ${\lambda}_{max}$ of aglycone in 1% HCl methanol at 537 nm, electrospray ionization mass spectra with major ions at 449 and 287 m/z and chromatographic properties. But another pigment (peak 1) has not been characterized. The most abundant anthocyanin in black and wild rice was C3G.

패류 양식장 퇴적물의 광합성색소 분포 특성 (The characteristic of photosynthetic pigments distribution of the sediment in the shellfish farm)

  • This study researched and compared the sedimentation environment and photosynthetic pigments at Gomso (GS) -bay, Yoja (YJ) -bay and KangJin (KJ) -bay in May, 2012. It was shown that KJ-bay consist of C (clay) and M (mud), and GS-bay consists of Zs (silty sand) and Sz (sandy silt). Averagely, IL of YJ-bay was 4.98%, KJ-bay 6.10%, and GS-bay 1.45%. As for COD concentration, there were no places that exceeded Japanese sediment contamination standard 20 mg/g-dry. As for AVS concentration, in case of KJ-bay, two places exceeded Japanese sediment contamination standard 0.2 mg/g-dry. If we look into the average C/N ratio of bays, YJ-bay showed 8.50, KJ-bay 6.60, and GS-bay 5.52, thus all of them showed the characteristic of oceanic origin. As for the plankton make-up classified by photosynthetic pigments, diatom was dominant, and both ratios of pigment and C/chlorophyll. a showed the relatively lower distribution at GS-bay than at KJ-bay and YJ-bay. It is judged that this is related to the characteristic of flow-in, and it implies that predation process and decomposition by organic matters actively occurs at YJ-bay and KJ-bay.

전통 염색견의 열화조건에 따른 손상원인 연구 (The study of damage regions on the aging conditions of the silk dyeing traditional pigment)

  • In ancient times, many kinds of difference inorganic and organic pigment were used as colorants for making objects. This study has proved the damage regions on the aging conditions of the silk dyeing traditional pigment. so whiteness, tensile strength and digital-microscope were measured to examine the state of silk dyeing traditional pigments pretreated under each aging condition. From the result examining the state, all the silk dyeing traditional pigments were best condition at low temperature(-20/RT)and normal condition and damaged at high temperature($60^{\circ}C$) and 2ppm $SO_2$condition and UV condition. As a result of X-ray diffraction analysis of crystalline structure for the silk dyeing traditional pigments, most of specimens have nearly changed crystalline structure despite specimens had each other different conditions and times. Especially, specimens which was passing of 4-8 months have not changed in its crystalline structure. But some specimens like a Unghwang and Seokcheong have a little changed in its intensity in the XRD peak. Consequently, If we want to find out alteration of crystalline structure for the silk dyeing traditional pigments using scientific method according to change of environmental conditions, we must guarantee of equal state and strengthen of environmental conditions in specimen. Additionally, the term of experiment need to belong, and specimens which was experimented and analyzed must be same.

Scientific Analysis of Pigments in 20th Century Paintings for Selected Historical Churches of the Bohol, Philippines

  • Through a combination of scientific analytical methods, the coloring materials used in $20^{th}$ century paintings in historical churches of Baclayon, Dauis and Loay, which are municipalities in Bohol, Philippines, were studied. Inorganic pigments were identified using SEM-EDS and XRD. Iron-based pigments were commonly found in the paintings, yielding dark yellow and brown colors. Zinc oxide was identified as the white pigment in the ceiling paintings of Dauis Church and Loay Church, while titanium dioxide was detected in the column painting in Baclayon Church. Organic analysis showed the presence of Pigment Yellow 3, a synthetic organic pigment. Paint layers, as well as other components of the samples such as grounds and metal leaves, were examined microscopically. It was observed that different types of grounds were applied on different types of surfaces. Moreover, organic pigments were found in combination with white extender materials. Microscopic examination also revealed alterations in the artworks, such as the overpaint layer found in the samples from Baclayon Church cornice and the imitation metal leaf layers applied over the original gilt surface in the Loay Church retablo.

완주 송광사 나한전 단청안료 분석 (Analysis of Dancheong pigments at the Nahanjeon Songkwangsa Temple, Wanju)

  • 전라북도에 소재한 유형목조문화재의 단청기록화 사업의 일환으로 송광사 나한전(전라북도 유형문화재 제172호)에 채색된 안료에 대한 X-선형광분석을 실시하였으며, 이들에 대한 색상별 안료의 성분과 보수시기의 동일성을 비교하였다. 분석결과 주성분 및 미량성분을 검토한 결과 나한전에 사용된 안료는 청색은 군청(($3NaAl{\cdot}SiO_4{\cdot}Na_2S_2$), 녹색은 양록($Cu(C_2H_3O_2)_2{\cdot}3Cu(AsO_2)_3$, 주황은 장단($Pb_3O_4$), 황색은 크롬옐로($PbCrO_4$)로 분류되었다. 나한전 외부, 내부의 안료 성분분석으로는 채색 시기를 구별하긴 어려웠다.

자외선 램프로 식별 가능한 안료코팅용지 개발 (Development of Pigment Coated Paper Recognizable With UV Light)

  • This study was carried out in order to develop a speciality functional coated paper, which can be recognized under a ultraviolet lamp. The special fluorescent whitening agent (FWA) which absorbs ultraviolet light (397~410 nm) and emits it as yellowish light (570~500nm) was used. The special FWA was applied in a coating color in two ways: (1) direct application to a coating color as a FWA; (2) application on pigment surface, drying it and application it as a fluorescence whitening pigments (colored pigments). The effects of the special FWA on coating color properties were tested and the distribution of colored pigments in coated paper was evaluated under a ultraviolet lamp. The results showed that the colored pigments didn't affect on coating color properties. Experimental results showed the possibility of producing a security coated paper using the special FWA. To produce a speciality functional paper, it was found to be proper to apply the special FWA in the form of colored pigment.

Production of Red Pigments by Monascus purpureus in Submerged Culture

  • For the purpose of mass producing Monascus red pigments optimum medium composition and environmental conditions were investigated in submerged flask cultures. The optimum carbon and nitrogen sources were determined to be 30g/L of glucose and 1.5 g/L of monosodium glutamate (MSG). Of the three metals examined, Fe$\^$2+/ showed the strongest stimulatory effect on pigment production and some stimulatory effect was also found in Mn$\^$2+/. Optimum pH and agitation speed were determined to be 6.5 and 700 rpm, respectively. Under the optimum culture conditions batch fermentation showed that the maximum biomass yield and specific productivity of red pigments were 0.20 g DCW/g glucose and, 32.5 OD$\sub$500/g DCW$\^$-1/h$\^$-1/, respectively.

건조 삼나물과 다래순의 재수화와 고온 가열조리 중 색소와 산화방지성분의 함량 변화 (Content Changes of Pigments and Antioxidants of Dried Samnamul (Aruncus dioicus) and Daraesoon (Actinidia arguta) during Rehydration and High Temperature Cooking)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of rehydration and subsequent heating at high temperature on the pigments and antioxidants of dried samnamul (Aruncus dioicus) and daraesoon (Actinidia arguta). Methods: Rehydration included 16 h-soaking in cold water, and 30 min-boiling and 1 h-infusion in water. Rehydrated samnamul and daraesoon were heated at $180^{\circ}C$ for 10 or 20 min with or without perilla oil addition (10%) for cooking. Pigments and antioxidants were determined by HPLC and spectrophotometry. Results: Rehydration caused decreases in pigment and polyphenol contents, but increase in tocopherol content. Cooking by heating without addition of perilla oil resulted in increases in chlorophyll and carotenoid contents, but decreases in polyphenol and tocopherol contents. Decrease in tocopherol content by heating at $180^{\circ}C$ was reversed by the addition of perilla oil. Conclusion: This study strongly suggested that cooking of samnamul and daraesoon at $180^{\circ}C$ with perilla oil could improve color, texture, and potential health functionality by recovering the loss of antioxidants and pigments with antioxidant activity.

양하 추출액의 색소 안정성 연구 (Stability Study of the Pigment Extract from Yangha (Zingiber mioga ROSC))

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the stability of anthocyanin pigment extract from Yangha (Zingiber mioga ROSC). Methods: Yangha extract was investigated for the effects of metal ion, temperature, light, heating time, sugars, and organic acids on the stability of anthocyanin pigments. Results: Yangha pigment was more stable than other anthocyanin pigments at unstable temperatures. The stability of anthocyanin pigment significantly decreased one day after exposure to light. All tested sugars decreased the abundance of Yangha pigments, with highest levels in the presence of sucrose, and progressive decrease in the presence of maltose, fructose, glucose and galactose, in order. Among the organic acids tested, citric acid and malic acid were the most effective in stabilizing the Yangha pigment, followed by acetic acid and formic acid. Most metal ions except $Fe^{2+}$ were effective in stabilizing the pigment. Conclusion: These results provide useful reference data for the use of pigments from Yangha in processed foods.
