Structural and piezoelectric properties of lead-free (1-x)$(Na_{0.5}\;K_{0.5})NbO_3$-xBa($Ti_{0.9}$, $Sn_{0.1}$)$O_3$ ceramics

  • Lead-free (1-x)$(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$-xBa($Ti_{0.9}Sn_{0.1})O_3$ [NKN-BTS-100x] ceramics doped with 1 mol% $MnO_2$ have been prepared by the conventional solid state method and their structural and piezoelectric properties were investigated. The NKN-BTS-100x ceramics exhibited a dense and homogeneous microstructure when they were sintered at $1030-1150^{\circ}C$. Grain growth was observed for the specimen sintered at relatively low temperature of $1050^{\circ}C$. A tetragonal/orthorhombic morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) in the perovskite structure was also appeared for the NKN-BTS-100x ceramics (0.04$1050^{\circ}C$. The enhanced piezoelectric properties in the NKN-BTS ceramics with a MPB composition were obtained. Especially, for the NKN-BTS-6 ceramics, a high dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}^T_3/\varepsilon_0=1,400$), piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}=237$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p=0.42$) were obtained.

  • In this study, In order to develop the low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured with the sintering temperature, and their microstructure and piezoelectric properties were investigated. At the composition ceramics sintered at $900^{\circ}C$, dielectric constant(${\varepsilone}_r$), electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) and mechanical quality factor(Qm) showed the optimal value of 1095, 0.60, 363 and 1055, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured and their microstructure, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. By increasing sintering temperature, remanent polarization$(P_r)$ was increased due to the increase of sinterability and grain size. However, coercive $field(E_c)$ showed an opposite tendency to remanent polarization owing to the feasibility of domain wall motion. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, dielectric $constant({\varepsilon}_r)$, electromechanical coupling $factor(k_p)$, piezoelectric $constant(d_{33})$ and mechanical quality $factor(Q_m)$ showed the optimal value of 1095, 0.60, 363 and 1055, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, sensers, transducers, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were manufacrtured with the sintering temperature, and their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated. At the composition ceramics sintered at $900^{\circ}C$, desity, dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}_r)$, electromechanical coupling factor(kp), piezoelectric constant$(d_{33})$ and mechanical quality factor(Qm) showed the optimal value of $7.86g/cm^3$, 1417, 0.634, 410pC/N and 1138, respectively.

  • In this study, in order to develop the lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with high piezoelectric and dielectric properties, $[(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.95}Li_{0.05}(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})]O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using $Ag_2O$ as sintering aid and a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the $SrTiO_3$ substitution. $SrTiO_3$ substitution enhanced density, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$). However, mechanical quality factor was deteriorated. And also, Curie temperature ($T_c$), and phase transition temperature($T_p$) were rapidly decreased. At the 0.5 mol% $SrTiO_3$ substitution, density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum value of $4.437\;g/cm^3$, 0.457, 1294, 265 pC/N, respectively.

  • In this study, 0.96B $i_{0.5}$($Na_{0.84}$ $K_{0.16}$)$_{0.5}$Ti $O_3$ + 0.04SrTi $O_3$ + 0.3 wt% N $b_2$ $O_{5}$+0.2 wt% L $a_2$ $O_3$ + xwt % Mn $O_2$ were investigated as a function of the amount of Mn $O_2$ addition in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. With increasing the amount of Mn $O_2$ addition, the density, electromechanical coupling factor( $k_{p}$), piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$, $g_{33}$) and curie temperature (Tc) showed the maximum value of 5.7 g/㎤, 38 %, 219 pC/N, 26 mVㆍm/N and 32$0^{\circ}C$ at 0.1 wt% Mn $O_2$ addition, respectively, and mechanical quality factor( $Q_{m}$ ) showed the maximum value of 158 at 0.3 wt% Mn $O_2$ addition.ddition.ion.n.

  • In this study, in odor to develop low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the addition of dopant CuO and $Fe_2O_3$, respectively. The CuO added PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics improved mechanical quality factor Qm due to the acceptor doping effect. And also, $Fe_2O_3$ reacted as softner in this composition system in addition to the increase of grain size and sinterability. Taking into consideration electromechanical coupling factor kp of 0.62, dielectric constant $\varepsilon_r$, of 1275, Piezoelectric $d_{33}$ constant of 377[pC/N] and mechanical quality factor Qm of 975, it was concluded that the ceramics with the $Fe_2O_3$, added composition sintered at 900[$^{\circ}C$] were best for the multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator application.

  • In this paper the structural dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb[(M $g_{1}$2// $W_{1}$2/)$_{x}$-(N $i_{1}$3//N $b_{2}$3/)$_{0.15-x-(Zr_{0.5})}$ $Ti_{0.5}$)$_{0.85}$$O_3$ (x=0.0~0.10) ceramic were investigated with the substitution of Pb(M $g_{1}$2// $W_{1}$2/) $O_3$. According to the substitution of Pb(M $g_{1}$2//W/1/2/) $O_3$ curie temperatures were slightly decrease due to the decrease of the tetrag-onality of crystal structure and coercive fields were decreased. Up to the substitution of Pb(M $g_{1}$2// $W_{1}$2/) $O_3$ 3mol%,remnant polarization dielectric constant piezoelectric constant were increased. Dielectric constant and electro-mechanical coupling factor( $k_{p}$, $k_{31}$ ) were appeared the highest value of 2230, 0.64, and 0.38 and piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$ , $d_{31}$ ) was the largest value of 418, 202($\times$10$^{-12}$ /C/N), respectively, when the substitution amount of Pb(M $g_{1}$2// $W_{1}$2/N) respectively, when the substitution amount of Pb(M $g_{1}$2// $W_{1}$2/) $O_3$ was 3mol%.s 3mol%.%.

  • In this paper, effect of MnO$_2$ addition(0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5wt%) on the microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of [xPMW - (0.15-x) PNN] - [yPT-(0.85-y)PZ] (x=0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, y = 0.35, 0.40, ().425, 0.45, 0.5) were investigated. When Ti/Zr ratio was 1.0, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were highest value. With PMW 2mol%, dielectric constant, dielectric constant (d$\_$33/, d$\_$31/) and electromechanical coupling factor (kp, k$\_$31/) were highest values of 1995, 479, 186(x10$\^$-12/C/N), 0.61, 0.36, respectively. With the addition of MnO$_2$, dielectric constant, electromechanical coupling factor (kp, k$\_$31/) were decreased, but with 0.3wt% MnO$_2$, eletromechanical coupling factor was highest value of 0.63. With the addition of MnO$_2$, mechanical quality(Q$\_$m/ was increased.

  • Lead-free piezoelectric ceramic/epoxy composites with '0-3' connectivity were prepared by cold-pressing with a temperature controlled curing method. A ceramic powder with a composition of $(Na_{0.51}K_{0.47}Li_{0.02})(Nb_{0.8}Ta_{0.2})O_3$ was synthesized by a conventional solid state reaction route. The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of ceramic/epoxy composites were characterized as a function of the volume fraction (${\phi}$) of piezoelectric ceramics, which was varied from 70 to 95 vol%. The results indicated that the piezoelectric properties of composites were significantly affected by the volume fraction of ceramics. In terms of the piezoelectric properties, specimens showed the best performance at ${\phi}$= 85 vol%, resulting in the piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ of 39 pC/N and the figure of merit as a piezoelectric energy harvester ($d_{33}{\cdot}g_{33}$) of 1.24 $pm^2/N$.
