Using Context Information to Improve Retrieval Accuracy in Content-Based Image Retrieval Systems

  • Current image retrieval techniques have shortcomings that make it difficult to search for images based on a semantic understanding of what the image is about. Since an image is normally associated with multiple contexts (e.g. when and where a picture was taken,) the knowledge of these contexts can enhance the quantity of semantic understanding of an image. In this paper, we present a context-aware image retrieval system, which uses the context information to infer a kind of metadata for the captured images as well as images in different collections and databases. Experimental results show that using these kinds of information can not only significantly increase the retrieval accuracy in conventional content-based image retrieval systems but decrease the problems arise by manual annotation in text-based image retrieval systems as well.

  • 부동산 거래 관리 시스템이란 부동산 거래 관리 활동과 관련된 등록, 검색, 상담 및 부동산에 대한 이력 관리와 분석을 목적으로 하는 시스템이다. 거래 상담 및 분석 과정에서 부동산에 대한 지형 정보 서비스가 지대한 영향을 미친다. 본 시스템은 지도 정보 및 비디오나 사진등과 같은 영상 정보를 포괄하는 지형 정보 서비스를 제공함으로써, 원격지 거래자들간의 상담 및 관리/분석 활동이 원활히 이루어질 수 있도록 설계/구현되었다. 또한, WWW를 통해 이같은 지형 정보 서비스를 제공함으로써 사용자들이 별도의 클라이언트 에뮬레이터 없이 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스를 받을 수 있도록 설계/구현 되었다.

  • Korean Text to Sign Language Traslator could be applied to learn letters for both the deaf and hard-of-hearing people, and to have a conversation with normal people. This paper describes some useful dictionaries for developing korean text to sign language translator; Base sign language dictionary, Compound sign language dictionary, and Resemble sign language dictionary. As korean sign language is composed entirely of about 6,000 words, the additional dictionaries are required for matching them to korean written language. We design base sign language dictionary which was composed of basic symbols and moving picture of korean sign language, and propose the definition of compound isng language dictionary which was composed of symbols of base sing language. In addition, resemble sign language dictionary offer sign symbols and letters which is used same meaning in conversation. By using these methods, we could search quickly sign language during korean text to sign language translating process, and save storage space. We could also solve the lack of sign language words by using them, which are appeared on translating process.

  • In a motion estimation method for use in encoding a moving picture, a full-pixel motion vector is estimated by stochastically sampling a pixel to be processed in a predetermined-sized block of a previous frame or a next frame as a reference frame for each of a plurality of equal-sized blocks in a current frame. Then, a half-pixel motion vector is estimated based on the full-pixel motion vector. Accordingly, both the calculation amount and the calculation time required for the motion estimation are effectively reduced. Further, it can be prevented that the hardware becomes complicated. .

Eigenface를 이용한 얼굴인식에서의 영상등록 오차 보정 (Registration Error Compensation for Face Recognition Using Eigenface)

  • 얼굴 인식에서는 입력 영상에서 얼굴을 검출한 후에 데이터베이스의 영상과 위치와 크기를 일치시키는 등록 과정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 영상의 등록 과정에서 발생하는 얼굴영상의 이동, 회전, 혹은 크기의 차이를 eigenspace에서 보정하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 이를 위하여 얼굴 영상의 수직, 수평 이동, 회전, 크기 변환 등의 등록오차를 선형보간 행렬로 근사하였다. 각 변환행렬을 사용하여 등록오차에 따른 미분계수를 eigenspace에서 구하면 subpixel 단위의 등록 오차를 보정할 수 있다. 제안된 방법은 공간 영역에서 오차를 보정하는 것보다 계산량이 훨씬 더 적다. 오차 보정 후 얼굴 인식률이 크게 향상되는 것을 실험으로 확인하였다.

Intussusception after Colonoscopy: A Case Report and Review of Literature

  • Intussusception after colonoscopy is an unusual complication. A MEDLINE search revealed only 7 reported cases. We present a report of a 28-year-old man who developed abdominal pain several hours after routine colonoscopy and in whom computed tomography (CT) revealed colocolic intussusception. We postulate that this condition is iatrogenic and induced by suctioning of gas on withdrawal of the colonoscope. A common observation among the reported cases was abdominal pain several hours after colonoscopy and right-sided intussusception. All cases had colonoscopy reaching the right side of the colon. Treatment for adult intussusception remains controversial with regard to reduction versus resection, especially given the high association with a pathological cause and malignancy. Among the 8 reported cases, only the current case did not require surgery. A combination of benign colonoscopy, CT, and the clinical picture should provide sufficient information to initially choose a more conservative treatment approach.

  • To understand a trend is to explore the intricate process of how something or a particular situation is constantly changing or developing in a certain direction. This exploration is about observing and describing an unknown field of knowledge, not testing theories or models with a preconceived hypothesis. The purpose is to gain knowledge we did not expect and to recognize the associations among the elements that were suspected or not. This generally requires examining a massive amount of data to find information that could be transformed into meaningful knowledge. That is, looking through the lens of big-data analytics with an inductive reasoning approach will help expand our understanding of the complex nature of a trend. The current study explored the trend of well-being in South Korea using big-data analytic techniques to discover hidden search patterns, associative rules, and keyword signals. Thereafter, a theory was developed based on inductive reasoning - namely the hook, upward push, and downward pull to elucidate a holistic picture of how big-data implications alongside social phenomena may have influenced the well-being trend.

  • The combination between metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT), which opens up new opportunities for the media industry, raised expectations for a new economic system and business model. Of course, last year, various institutions and researchers continuously introduce representative metaverse services and business strategies such as Roblox, Fortnite, and ZEPETO. However, as 2022 progresses, the reaction to the metaverse is tepid than expected. Search volume on Google has been continuously decreasing. Furthermore, skepticism, regarded as one of the special phenomena caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, is expanding since December 2021. Nevertheless, analysis or contemplation of a new business model related to the metaverse, which is still ongoing, is essential for those who must prepare for the future. The reason is that even if without being activated now, advanced preparation can help when various problems arise. In this study, we look at the metaverse and NFT biz models and estimate a picture of the future. In other words, the social and economic problems that may arise when the business model is expanded are summarized, and technical and policy measures are derived as solutions.

Every Picture Tells a Story: The New York Unicorn Tapestries and Daesoon Jinrihoe's Simudo Paintings

  • Both the late 15th-century Unicorn Tapestries now at the Cloisters Museum in New York and Daesoon Jinrihoe's Simudo Paintings present a religious narrative through the symbol of the search for an animal that is then subdued. This is now the prevailing scholarly interpretation of the New York Unicorn Tapestries, with the unicorn representing Jesus Christ, although a concurrent reading alluding to human love cannot be excluded. The article examines the New York Unicorn Tapestries according to their Christological interpretation, rooted in traditions about the unicorn popularized by the German medieval mystic Hildegard of Bingen, although in fact much older. It then discusses the Buddhist iconographic tradition of ox-herding paintings that represents an antecedent for the Simudo Paintings and notes the latter's differences and similarities with the New York Unicorn Tapestries.

움직임 벡터의 시공간 상관성을 이용한 새로운 고속 블럭 정합 움직임 추정 방식 (New Fast Block-Matching Motion Estimation using Temporal and Spatial Correlation of Motion Vectors)

  • 본 논문은 움직임 벡터의 높은 시$\cdot$공간 상관도 정보를 이용하여 계산량을 줄이면서 움직임 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 새로운 블럭 정합 움직임 추정 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 기존의 고속 움직임 추정 방식들이 이용하는 탐색 영역내의 일관된 첫 번째 탐색 위치에서 움직임 벡터를 찾는 것이 아니라 움직임 벡터의 높은 시$\cdot$공간 상관도 정보를 이용하여 보다 정확한 탐색영역을 찾아 탐색 영역을 보정함으로써 보다 정확한 첫번째 탐색 위치를 중심으로 움직임 벡터를 탐색한다. 즉, 본 논문에서 제안하는 방식의 핵심은 움직임 추정의 정확도를 높이기 위해서 보다 정확한 첫번째 탐색 위치를 찾는 것이다. 따라서 움직임 벡터의 시간적인 상관성을 이용하기 위해서 현재 프레임 블럭과 같은 좌표를 갖는 이전 프레임 블럭의 방향성을 조사한다. 또한 공간적인 상관성을 이용하기 위해서 현재 프레임내의 이웃 블럭들의 방향성을 조사한다. 이러한 블럭들이 갖는 방향성을 바탕으로 움직임 추정을 위한 첫번째 탐색 위치를 결정하게 되고 그 위치를 중심으로 일정한 탐색 패턴에 따라 움직임 벡터를 탐색하는 방식이다. 실험 결과 제안된 방식은 기존의 대표적인 고속 탐색 방식들에 비해 PSNR (Peak-to-Signal Noise Ratio) 값에 있어서 평균적으로 1.7dB 개선되고 영상에 따라 최고 3.6dB 정도 우수한 결과를 나타낸다. 또한 탐색 횟수에서는 기존의 대표적인 고속탐색 알고리즘인 3단계 탐색 알고리즘 (Three-step search algorithm) 보다 평균 50% 이상을 줄일 수 있었고, 정확한 움직임 벡터를 찾는 비교에 있어서도 월등히 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 제안된 방식은 정량적인 결과뿐만 아니라 부호화 후 복호화한 영상의 화질에 있어서도 다른 고속 탐색 알고리즘 보다 월등히 우수한 화질을 제공한다. 및 상품과율 등이 모두 10:0 양액보다 높게 나타났다. 식물체내의 무기성분은 8:2의 경우 K+ 및 Mg2+는 잎에서 Ca2+은 뿌리에서 많았으며 PO4-은 과실과 줄기에서 많았다. 10:0에서의 무기성분도 8:2에서와 같은 경향을 나타내었으며, 배지간에 무기성분의 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 양액조성에 따른 무기성분 함량의 차이는 K+, Ca2+ 및 Mg2+는 10:0에서, PO4-은 8:2에서 각각 많았다.uage.
