Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of an exercise program on the physical, physiological, and emotional status of the aged. Method: This research adopted a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 46 elders aged over 60 who were selected from those registered at three local health centers in G City, and 27 of them were assigned to the experimental group and 19 to the control group. The independent variable was the exercise program, and the dependent variables were physical status, physiological status, and emotional status. The exercise program was Performed for 60 minutes per time, 3 times a week and for 6 weeks. Data were collected from October to November, 2005. Result: Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed significant improvements in right lower extremity strength (F=46.119, p=.000), left lower extremity strength (F=53.265, p=.000) and waist flexibility (t=3.183, p=.003) as physical status, and in depression (t=-3.703, p=.001), perceived health status (t=4.821, p=.000), and self efficacy (t=3.866, p=.000) as emotional status. Conclusion: The results showed that the exercise program was effective in promoting the physical status, physiological status, and emotional status of the aged. Therefore, it is recommended to apply the program as a nursing intervention in clinical practice and education in communities.
In this study, physiological status of locomotive engineers were measured through EEG, ECG, EDA, PPG and respiration signals from 6 subjects to evaluate their arousal status during train operating. Existence of tunnels and mechanical vibration of train using 3-axes acceleration sensors were recorded simultaneously and were correlated with operator's physiological status. As the result of the analyzed subjects' physiological signals, mean SCR was increased in the section where more body movement is required. The RR interval was decreased before and after train stop due to the higher level of mental tension. The intensity of beta wave of EEG was found to be higher before and after train stop and tunnel section due to the increased mental arousal and tension. Therefore, it is expected that the outcomes of the physiological signals explored in this study can be utilized as the quantitative assessment methods for the arousal status to be used for sleepiness prevention system for vehicles operators which can greatly contribute to public transportation system safety.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify physiological functional status and unmet care needs among patients with chronic pulmonary disease, colorectal cancer, and strokes after discharge. Methods: A crosssectional study was conducted with 224 patients diagnosed with aforementioned diseases from January to July in 2014 in two different tertiary hospitals in Seoul and its suburban area. Physiological functional status and unmet care needs were collected using Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) Scale and Problems After Discharge Questionnaire-English version(PADQ-E) respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Patients with chronic pulmonary disease and colorectal cancer showed a low level of physiological functional status (mean: 77.20 and 77.60 out of 100 respectively) and a high level of unmet care needs (mean 2.23 and 2.63 out of 4 respectively). Stroke patients showed a high level of unmet care needs in the category of 'counseling', 'physical complaints', and 'instructions'. Physiological functional status was significantly associated with unmet care needs in all three patient groups and it showed a significant effect on unmet care needs in patients with stroke. Conclusion: The results showed that patients after discharge were still having insufficient functional status and various unmet care needs. The results of this study suggest a development of nursing care service for patients with chronic diseases after discharge.
Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the physiological parameter and physical health status and health perception in the elderly, and to find the correlation between these variables. The subjects were 139 in Kyungi senior center. Method: The instruments for this study were physiological parameters, which were composed of vital capacity, blood pressure, pulse oxygenation, hand grip power, body fat and physical health status scale developed by researcher, and health perception scale developed by Ware(1976). The data were analyzed by the SPSS-PC 11.0 version. Results: 1) 7.9% of subjects were included in abnormal range of vital capacity, 40.3% were systolic hypertension and 11.5% were diastolic hypertension. And 92.1% were included in normal range of pulse oxygenation, 79.8% were weakened hand grip power, and 10.1% of subjects were included in normal range of body fat. 2) The total mean score of the physical health status was 26.34 of a possible maximum score of 45. The physical health status score of women was lower than man's. 3) The mean score of man's health perception was 24.52 and women's was 20.39 of a possible maximum score of 44. 4) There was a significant positive correlation between hand grip power and physical health status(r=.28, p=.001). And a significant correlation between physical health status and health perception was found (r=.24, p=.004). Conclusion: It is concluded that the blood pressure, hand grip power and body fat among the physiological parameters of elderly subjects in Kyungi senior center were included in abnormal range. The factors were related life style. therefore, it is suggested that the health education to change life style for the elderly is needed.

The type of physiological stress involved in driving is probably complex, and a comprehensive study involving recording of physiological signals such as electrocardiogram(ECG), electromyogram(EMG). Changes in relevant Physiological parameters, such as ECG, EMG, reflected changes in driver status. In order to derive the mental and physical load of driving a motor vehicle from driving behaviour alone it is necessary to establish the relationship between changes in a driver's physiological parameters and behavioral parameters. In this study, we choose two different condition and investigated driver's status using HRV analysis method. Many previous studies have shown that increasing driving time causes a variation of HRV signal.

This work presents an estimation for stress status using biosignal and fuzzy theory. Stress is estimated by 'coin-build' experiment with two type, relax and stress status. The estimator uses five biosignals, fuzzy logic to combine these signals and physiological knowledge. The system was tested in 10 records of healthy indivisuals and acheived a template of a stress progress. This work presents an estimation for stress status using biosignal and fuzzy theory. Purpose: This study was intended to determine how the choice of music affects the physiological and psychological status of women college student during music therapy. Methods: A nonequivalent experimental group pretest-posttest design was used. 19 out of 54 subjects were assigned to listen to their favorite music and 17 to their unfavorite music for 20 minutes using MP3 players and headphones. Anxiety, blood pressure, pulse and blood glucose levels of the subjects were measured before treatment. The data was analyzed by Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon signed rank test using the SPSS/WIN 10.0 program. Results: The result showed that systolic blood pressure, blood glucose and anxiety level decreased significantly in the favorite music group. however systolic blood pressure, pulse rate and anxiety level increased significantly in the unfavorite music group. The favorite music group showed a significantly higher level of satisfaction than the unfavorite music group. Conclusion: Choice of music affects the physiological and psychological status of an individual. Favorite music listening would enhance the effect of music therapy. Therefore, selection of music must be considered in light of the subject's preference and characteristics.
Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the physiological parameters and health perception of adults in Kyungi province area, and the correlation between these variables. The subjects were 95 adults who participated voluntarily in the health examination program. Methods: The instruments for this study were physiological parameters, which were composed of blood pressure, blood sugar, and body fat. The health perception scale developed by Ware (1976), and the health practice performance scale developed by Chang et al. (1999). Results: The average blood pressure was 137/85mmHg, the average blood sugar was 108.56mg/dl, and the average body fat arm sunt was 27.08% in males, and 30.07% in females. There were significant negative correlation between health perception and blood sugar (r=-2.36, p=.01), and body fat (r= -2.77, p=.001). There were significant positive correlations between blood pressure and health behavior (r=2.76, p=.001). However a significant correlation between health perception and health behavior was not found. Of the sociodemographic characteristics, sex (F=5.42, p=.01), and marital status (F=3.29, p=.04) were related to blood pressure. Also sex (F=4.17, p=.04) was related to body fat, and sex (t=4.04, p=.03) was related to health perception and disease status (t=4.33, p=.040). Thus having a relationship with health behavior. Conclusion: It is suggested that health perception provide important information about health status. However, this study has not shown a correlation between health perception and health behavior. Therefore further research is needed to find the other variables related to health behavior.
