  • Recently, with the growth of photovoltaic system, many researchers and companies have concerned about the multi-level inverter which has an efficiency of boosting voltage. In this paper a novel structure of multi-level converter for reducing ripple of output voltage is proposed. In the proposed converter Buck converters are connected in series to generate the output voltage and the ripple of output voltage can be reduced compared with the exiting Buck converter. Especially when outputting lower output voltage the number of acting switching elements is less and the result of ripple reducing is more obvious. This paper implements a multi-level switching function based on the FPGA.

  • Solar radiation data are the best source of information for estimating average incident radiation. Lacking this or data from nearby locations of similar climate, it is possible to use empirical relationships to estimate radiation from days of hours of bright sunshine. It is necessary to estimate the regression coefficients in order to predict the daily global radiation on a horizontal surface. Therefore many different equations have proposed to evaluate them for certain areas. In this work a new correlation has been made to predict the solar radiation for 16 different areas over Korea by estimating the regression coefficients taking into account hours of bright sunshine. Particularly, the proposed straight line regression model shows reliable results for estimating the global radiation on a horizontal surface with monthly average deviation of -0.2 to +0.5% and each station annual average deviation of -1.6 to +1.7% from measured values.

  • The experimental study was conducted to optimize the system dissipating properly heat from the in-situ solar panel installed on the roof. For this purpose, six 12-Watt panels, which were consisted of the different design conditions such as containing phase change material(PCM), changing the array of the aluminum fin and honeycomb at the back of the panel, were tested. PCM, which had $44^{\circ}C$ melting point, was chosen in this study. In order to enhance absorbing and expelling heatin PCM, profiled aluminum fin was placed either inward oroutward from the panel. Furthermore, Aluminum honeycomb is imbedded in the back container to find if it would improve the thermal conductivity of PCM. During the experiment, there were ranged to $26^{\circ}C\sim32^{\circ}C$ for outdoor temperature and $700W/m^2\sim1000W/m^2$ for irradiance. As a result, the solar panel, combined with honeycomb and outward fins with PCM instead of placing the fins inward, is showing the best performance in terms of controling panel temperature and its efficiency.

  • These days, although thermal energy is decreasing, electric energy is increasing in building. Also, it is very important to research and distribute BIPV(Building Integrated photovoltaic) because our society consider electricity more significant than other energy in building. Therefore, in this paper, our research team analyzed difference between BIPV yield and building energy consumption through experimental research. As a result, yearly building energy consumption was 104,602.4kWh and BIPV yield was 105,267kWh. And then, totally counterbalanced time took up 26%, reduced electric load time took up 16%. In other words, peak load could be reduced up to 42% by BIPV. As a result, yearly building energy consumption was 104,602.4kWh and BIPV yield was 105,267kWh. • We suggest improvement direction of energy-saving design based on analysis of current situation in school facilities. School facilities have large area among public buildings. While the number of students is decreasing, the number of school and energy consumption is increasing year after year. School facilities have excellent heat insulation property, but it requires further examination about excessive heat insulation plan. School facilities are using gas heat pump actively for cooling and heating, but has difference in use ratio of ground source heat pump by region. Thus School facilities requires active using of ground source heat pump and BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic System).

  • This paper proposes a novel high step-up non-isolated DC-DC converter, suitable for regulating dc bus in various inherent low voltage micro sources especially for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell sources. This novel high voltage Non-isolated Boost DC-DC converter topology is best replacement, where high voltage conversion ratio is required without the transformer and also need continuous input current. Since the proposed topology utilizes the stack-based structure, the voltage gain, and the efficiency are higher than other conventional non-isolated converters. Switches in this topology is easier to control since its control signal is grounding reference. Also, there is no need of extra gate driver and extra power supply for driver circuit, which reduces the cost and size of system. In order to show the feasibility and practicality of the proposed topology principle operation, steady state analysis and simulation result is presented and analyzed in detail. To verify the performance of proposed converter and theoretical analysis 360W laboratory prototype is implemented.

  • In this study, we, through case studies, formulated a method to implement net-zero energy daycare center at the current insulation and technology level, and calculated its energy expense. The reference model was a medium sized daycare center whose number of children was 99. We analyzed the energy consumption status for the reference model and developed TRNSYS simulation analytical model to realize net-zero energy . We assumed the reference model to be "All Electric Building" where all energy including cooking is supplied by electricity. The result is summarized as follows: First, the annual electricity consumption of daycare center was 53,291kWh. Plug load occupied the largest share of 48% followed by lighting, 10%, cooling, 9%, cooking, 9%, heating, 8%, hot water, 5% and ventilation, 2%. Second, the photovoltaic installation capacity to realize net-zero energy was 40.32kWp and its annual generation was 53,402kWh. Third, the annual energy expense(electricity bill) by realizing net-zero energy was 2,620,390won.

In recent years, metal halide perovskite materials have achieved a remarkable efficiency of 29.15% in the field of photovoltaics, and have drawn the scientific community's attention to promote their use in the field of optoelectronics, such as FETs and phototransistors. The MAPbI3 (methylammonium lead iodide) perovskite TFT has achieved a record hole mobility of 21.41 cm2/V-s in the year 2020. In this review, we will briefly discuss the physical structure of MAPbI3 perovskite and the essential factors that stimulate these devices, together with the role of defects, the ion migration concept, and the implication of both dielectric and electrode materials on the device's performance.

  • We developed a highly efficient organic photovoltaic (OPV) cell with a poly[4,8-bis(5-(2-ethylhexyl)thiophen-2-yl)benzo[1,2-b;4,5-b']dithiophene-2,6-diyl-alt-(4-(2-ethylhexyl)-3-fluorothieno[3,4-b]thiophene-)-2-carboxylate-2-6-diyl)]:[6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester active layer for harvesting lower-intensity indoor light energy to power various self-powered sensor systems that require power in the microwatt range. In order to achieve higher power conversion efficiency (PCE), we first optimized the thickness of the active layer of the OPV cell through optical simulations. Next, we fabricated an OPV cell with optimized active layer thickness. The device exhibited a PCE of 12.23%, open circuit voltage of 0.66 V, short-circuit current density of 97.7 ㎂/cm2, and fill factor of 60.53%. Furthermore, the device showed a maximum power density of 45 ㎼/cm2, which is suitable for powering a low-power (microwatt range) sensor system.
