In this study, an organic-inorganic hybrid composite of Abaca nanocellulose and titanium dioxide was prepared. Abaca nanocellulose was prepared by oxidizing Abaca cellulose using TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidine-1-oxyl) as a catalyst. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel method, and a composite was prepared by hybridizing them with nanocellulose. As a result of comparing the properties of the composite and its physical properties according to the change in manufacturing pH, the effect of pH was very large when combining nanocellulose and titanium dioxide, and the optimal bonding performance was shown at pH 8 in this experimental condition. In addition, the prepared composite showed photocatalytic properties, and the higher the content of titanium dioxide, the higher the hydrophilicity of the composite according to UV light irradiation.

$TiO_2$ films on soda-lime-silica glasses were prepared by spin coating-pyrolysis process using titanium naphthenate as a starting material. As-deposited films were pyrolyzed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 10 min in air and annealed at 500, 550 and $600^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in air. Crystallinity of the film was investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis. A field emission-scanning electron microscope and an atomic force microscope were used for characterizing the surface morphology and the surface roughness of the film. After annealing at 550 and $600^{\circ}C$, the X-ray diffraction patterns consist of only anatase peak. Films annealed at 500 and $550^{\circ}C$ exhibited flat surfaces. While with the increase in annealing temperature to $600^{\circ}C$, the $TiO_2$ film showed abnormal growth of three-dimensional needle-shaped grains. For all samples, high transmittance, above 90 % at 500 nm, was obtained at visible range. To investigate photocatalytic properties, IR absorbance associated with the C-H stretching vibrations of a thin solution-cast film of stearic acid under 365 nm (2.4 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) UV irradiation was estimated.
ILow-temperature $TiO_2$ sol was synthesized with various catalyst contents by using a sol-gel method. $TiO_2$ thin films were produced by a dip-coating method and their optical, structural and photocatalytic properties were examined. Transmittance of $TiO_2$ thin films with 0.10 mol, 0.25 mol, 0.50 mol and 0.75 mol catalyst content showed high transmittance in the visible range. XRD results showed the anatase-to-rutile phase transition was accelerated with increasing catalyst content and the crystallinity size of the $TiO_2$ thin films increased with increasing catalyst content. SEM results indicated that the particle size of the $TiO_2$ thin films was the smallest with catalyst content of 0.25 mol. Photocatalytic results showed that methylene blue was completely decomposed in the presence of anatase film prepared with 0.10 mol, 0.25 mol and 0.50 mol catalyst content.

Recently, the use of TiO2 as a phtocatalyst has been diversely investigated due to its excellent durability performance and high photocatalytic reaction efficiency. Active researches have particularly focused on the development of TiO2-incorporated cementitious composites in order to remove the atmospheric pollutants. Furthermore, the potential utilization of TiO2-incorporated cementitious composites as road accessories such as tunnels, road median separators and soundproof walls in the form of tiles, blocks and structural components has been widely examined. In this regard, a thorough understanding on the material characteristics of TiO2-incorporated cementitious composites should be preceded. The present overview article, therefore, revisits previous studies of TiO2-incorporated cementitious composites and summarizes their various physicochemical properties and atmospheric pollutants removal performance.
$TiO_2$ thin films consisting of positively charged poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)(PDDA) and negatively charged titanium(IV) bis(ammonium lactato) dihydroxide(TALH) were successfully fabricated on glass beads by a layer-by-layer(LBL) self-assembly method. The glass beads used here showed a positive charge in an acid range and negative charge in an alkaline range. The glass beads coated with the coating sequence of(PDDA/TALH)n showed a change in the surface morphology as a function of the number of bilayers. When the number of bilayers(n) of the(PDDA/TALH) thin film was 20, Ti element was observed on the surface of the coated glass beads. The thin films coated onto the glass beads had a main peak of the (101) crystal face and were highly crystallized with XRD diffraction peaks of anatase-type $TiO_2$ according to an XRD analysis. In addition, the $TiO_2$ thin films showed photocatalytic properties such that they could decompose a methyl orange solution under illumination with UV light. As the number of bilayers of the(PDDA/TALH) thin film increased, the photocatalytic property of the $TiO_2$-coated glass beads increased with the increase in the thin film thickness. The surface morphologies and optical properties of glass beads coated with $TiO_2$ thin films with different coating numbers were measured by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and by UV-Vis spectrophotometry(UV-vis).
The property improvement of polycarbonate coated with a multilayer film composed of an inorganic $SiO_2$ film and a photocatalytic $TiO_2$ film was studied. The $SiO_2$ film as a binder had an excellent light transmission characteristic. After the treatment with atmospheric pressure plasma, the surface of $SiO_2$ film showed the hydrophilicity, which increased the film coating uniformity with a $TiO_2$-containing aqueous solution. When $TiO_2$ film was over 200 nm thick, the absorption effect of UV rays in the range of 180~400 nm suppressed the yellowing phenomena of polycarbonate substrate. The inorganic film improved the heat resistance of polycarbonate substrates. $TiO_2$ film in the outmost under the exposure of UV rays promotes the catalytic oxidation characteristics and yields the capability to the decomposition of organic contaminants, and also increases the self-cleaning properties due to the increase of hydrophilicity. Structural stability of the polycarbonate substrate coated with inorganic $TiO_2$ and $SiO_2$ film was shown. The role of $SiO_2$ film between $TiO_2$ and polycarbonate substrate suppressed the peeling of $TiO_2$ film by inhibiting the photocatalytic oxidation effect of $TiO_2$ film on the polycarbonate substrate.
TiO$_2$, SiO$_2$, and PBA(Pseudo Boehemite Alumina) sol were prepared by sol-gel process. The particle sizes of these sol exhibited uniform 10∼30 nm. As the amount of SiO$_2$ sol increased, the temperature of phase transition (from anatase phase to rutile phase) was raised temperature than $600^{\circ}C$, which attributed to the enhanced photocatalyst properties. Also, the anatase phase was obtained with very small amount of the rutile phase from the addition of SiO$_2$ (10∼30 wt%) at annealing temperature of 120$0^{\circ}C$. The specimen with 20 wt% SiO$_2$ sol exhibited the maximum photocatalyst properties. But, the specimen with PBA sol did not affect photocatalytic activity due to the presence of rutile phase.
We prepared the nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles by the diffusion flame reactor and investigated the effects of several process variables on the generation and transport properties of $TiO_2$ particle. As the length from the tip of diffusion flame reactor increases, the size of $TiO_2$ particle increases by the coagulation between particles. The structure of $TiO_2$ particles prepared is almost found to be anatase. It was found that the $TiO_2$ particle size depends more largely on the change of reactor temperature than on the change of inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration. By the photo-degradation experiment of phenol and toluene with the prepared $TiO_2$ particles, we found that the photo-degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene change, depending on the process variables such as size of $TiO_2$ photocatlysts, concentration of phenol or toluene. Degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene was above 90% in our experiments in 60 minutes.

PEC (photoelectrochemical) water splitting for $O_2/H_2$ production is one of the promising but difficult way to utilize solar energy. Among photocatalytic materials for PEC water oxidation, $BiVO_4$ (Eg = 2.4 eV) has been recently intensively studied since it has various advantageous properties. But its maximum efficiency has not been realized owing to kinetic factors - slow water oxidation at surface & insufficient stability. These problems can be simultaneously solved by application of oxygen evolution catalyst (OEC) such as $CoO_x$, Co-Pi, $IrO_x$ etc. Herein we report the first successful application of $NiFeO_x$ OEC on $BiVO_4$, showing good performance compared to other effective OEC applied on $BiVO_4$ under basic conditions. The enhanced activity of OEC loaded $BiVO_4$ has been supported by the surface charge separation efficiency and electrochemical impedance studies.
Flower-like and plate-like CuO nanopowder has been successfully synthesized using a facile microwave-assisted synthetic route. The morphology and size of the final products strongly depended on microwave power. The phase, structures and morphologies of the as-prepared products were investigated in detail by BET surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the chemical oxygen demand of polluted lake water was employed for characterization of these new photocatalysts. The results showed correlations between the morphology of CuO micro-crystals and their catalytic properties.
