Transparent conducting $SnO_2$-based thin films have been coated on float substrates such as fused quartz, and ceramic fiber cloths such as the Nexel and E-glass cloth from tin alkoxides by the sol-gel technique. Also, thin films of alternating layers of $SnO_2$ and $SiO_2$ have been fabricated by dip coating. The sheet resistance and average visible transmittance of the films were investigated in the aspect of the applications as transparent electrodes such as liquid crystal displays, photo-detectors and solar cells. The Nextel and E-glass cloths coated with antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) had sheet resistance of as low as $20 \;ohm/{\Box}$ and $120ohm/\;{\Box}$, respectively. The promotion effects of additives as $La_2O_3$ and Pt on the ethanol gas sensing properties of the films were investigated in the aspects of the applications as an alcohol sensor and a breath alcohol checker. Possible evidence of quantum well effects in the oxide multilayers of $SnO_2$ and $SiO_2$ was investigated.

Barrier ribs in plasma display panels (PDPs) function to maintain the discharge space between the glass plates as well as to prevent optical cross-talking. The barrier ribs currently employed are typically $300{\mu}m$ pitch, $110{\sim}120{\mu}m$ in height, with upper and lower widths of $50{\mu}m$ and $80{\mu}m$, respectively. It has been reported that barrier ribs can be fabricated by screen-printing, sand blasting, etching and photolithographic processes. In this study, photosensitive barrier rib pastes were formulated and systematically evaluated in terms of photolithographic process variables such as printing, drying, UV exposure, development and sintering. It was found that the use of UV absorbent, polymerization inhibitor and surfactant were very effective in controlling the width uniformity of barrier ribs in the photolithographic method of barrier rib patterning.

In this paper, we have researched semiconductor optical filters to solve the problem of the high failure rate that are recognize bad of financial account, jam of financial account and the ATM service interruption due to failure of accurate location information among the operation of the ATM (automatic teller machine) systems. A semiconductor optical filters that have high resolution and less diffuse, high transmittance are able to detect the information of financial account surface accurately. Therefore, it is a stable filter that is able to minimize the incidence of disability. In this paper, we drew the determinants by element for implement an excellent semiconductor optical filters. Based on this, we had to be able to implement the semiconductor optical filter that is able to be mounted on the actual ATM system through future studies.

In order to measure the retina thickness, there are to need the 3-D retina photographing and the high speed signal processing system. In this paper, we introduced the retina photographing system and the 16-channel high speed image data acquisition system. There are able to measure the retina thickness with sensing image the returned laser signal to APD sensor after there were projected the HeNe laser on retina. We developed the laser projection system to sense a reflected image of the retina using APD sensor, the 16-channel high speed A/D converter and PCI master interface card for image transmission into computer.
Due to its high conductivity, pyrylium has been frequently used in electron transfer reactions or in the synthesis of various organic materials. It has also been used as a sensor material. Traditionally, the compounds have been synthesized using various methods; mostly in a multiple steps. In this study, two pyrylium salts, 2, 6-di-(4'-methylphenyl) pyrylium fluoroborate and perchlorate were synthesized. The synthesis of these products was confirmed by 1H-NMR, LC/TOF-MS and FT-IR analyses while their photo-properties were analyzed using UV/VIS spectrophotometry. In addition, the electron transfer capacities of the salts were analyzed with a conductivity meter, it was found that their electron conductivities were high. When the synthesized compounds were dissolved in acetone, a green fluorescent material was observed to form. The fluorescent material can be used as a sensitizer in the electrical industry.

Toluene($C_6H_5CH_3$) gas sensors were fabricated using $PtO_x$ loaded with SWNTs by a new deposition method. The nanoparticle powders of SWNTs-$PtO_x$ composite were deposited on Si wafer substrates by a vacuum filtering deposition method. The fabricated sensors were tested against toluene gas which is a kind of the Volatile Organic Compounds. The composition ratio that exhibited the highest response to toluene gases was SWNTs : $PtO_x\;=\;99:1$ in wt% ratio at operating temperature of about $150^{\circ}C$. The response and recovery times of the sensors were as short as less than 1 min., respectively.
For understanding molecular mechanisms of photochemical reactions, in particular reactions of proteins with biological functions, it is important to elucidate both the initial reactions from the photoexcited states and the series of subsequent chemical reactions, e.g., conformation, intermolecular interactions (hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions), and inter-protein interactions (oligomer formation, dissociation reactions). Although time-resolved detection of such dynamics is essential, these dynamics have been very difficult to track by traditional spectroscopic techniques. Here, relatively new approaches for probing the dynamics of protein photochemical reactions using time-resolved transient grating (TG) are reviewed. By using this method, a variety of spectrally silent dynamics can be detected and such data provide a valuable description about the reaction scheme. Herein, a blue light sensor protein TePixD is the exemplar. The initial photochemistry for TePixD occurs around the chromophore and is detected readily by light absorption, but subsequent reactions are spectrally silent. The TG experiments revealed conformational changes and changes in inter-protein interactions, which are essential for TePixD function. The TG experiments also showed the importance of fluctuations of the intermediates as the driving force of the reaction. This technique is complementary to optical absorption detection methods. The TG signal contains a variety of unique information, which is difficult to obtain by other methods. The advantages and methods for signal analyses are described in detail in this review.

3D city model, which consisted of the 3D building models and their geospatial position and orientation, is becoming a valuable resource in virtual reality, navigation systems, civil engineering, etc. The purpose of this research is to propose the new framework to generate the 3D city model that satisfies visual and physical requirements in ground oriented simulation system. At the same time, the framework should meet the demand of the automatic creation and cost-effectiveness, which facilitates the usability of the proposed approach. To do that, I suggest the framework that leverages the mobile mapping system which automatically gathers high resolution images and supplement sensor information like position and direction of the image. And to resolve the problem from the sensor noise and a large number of the occlusions, the fusion of digital map data will be used. This paper describes the overall framework with major process and the recommended or demanded techniques for each processing step.

This paper proposes DC offset current compensation method of transformerless fuel cell/PV PCS. DC offset current is generated by the unbalanced internal resistance of the switching devices in full bridge topology. The other cause is the sensitivity of the current sensor, which is lower than DSP in resolution. If power converter system has these causes, the AC output current in the inverter will generate the DC offset. In case of transformerless grid-connected inverter system, DC offset current is fatal to grid-side, which results in saturating grid side transformer. Several simulation results show the difficulties of detecting DC offset current. Detecting DC offset current method consists of the differential amplifiers and PWM is compensated by the output of the Op amp circuit with integrator controller. PSIM simulation verifies that the proposed method is simpler and more effective than using low resolution current sensor alone.

Technologies related to sealed-type ultrasonic sensors and driving circuit modules for them are the key elements for intelligent robot industry. Those technologies are believed to yield a drastic enhancement of the performance measuring distances in the intelligent robot systems. Modulization technologies of ultrasonic sensors are expected to develop ASIC and MEMS technologies in the future. The size of domestic market for sealed-type ultrasonic sensor modules is expected to grow to 1 billion and 5.72 billion Won by 2008 and 2012, respectively. Recent interest to service robots and government-driven programs are promoting the rapid growth of the market for the service robots. Successful application of the sealed-type ultrasonic modules to the service robots is expected to replace the conventional photo-sensors in a near future.
