Photoluminescent properties of red phosphor (Y,Gd)$_2$O$_3$: Eu for plasma display panel synthesized by homogeneous precipitation method (균일침전법으로 제조한 플라즈마 디스플레이용 적색 형광체 (Y,Gd)$_2$O$_3$: Eu의 발광특성)

  • The fired Precursor (Y,Gd,Eu)(OH)$CO_3$.$H_2O$$900^{\circ}C$ was used to synthesize the red phosphor $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu for plasma display panel. Rounded and ~l $\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter phosphor $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu can be obtained by the reaction of aformentioned powder with a small amount addition of flux at $1350^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Emission spectra of these phosphors were measured under excitation wavelength at 254 nm and 147 nm and the optimum concentrations of activator ion were determined at around 15 mo1e % and 10 mole % under these conditions, respectively. $BaCO_3$flux had the best property in emission intensity among the prepared $BaCO_3AlF_3$and $Li_3PO_4$phosphors. The properties of optimized sample were improved in terms of relative luminance and color coordinate comparing with commercial phosphor such as $Y_2O_3$: Eu.

  • Metal sulfide powders such as MnS, $MoS_2$ and FeS are simply used to the machinery processing improvement agent and solid lubricant in powder metallurgy industrial. And then, metal sulfide powders have received relatively little attention from powder metallurgy. Recently, the portable machine is one of the important interfaces between human or human and electronic machine. With the increase of the intelligent activity, the social and industrial demands for information display device and power source are increasing. The transition metal sulfide materials (FeS, ZnS) have received considerable attention due to the large variety of its electric, optical and magnetic properties. Among the metal sulfide, $FeS_2$ is appealing superior material for applications in $Li-2^{nd}$ battery because of high capacity. ZnS is also a famous phosphor material with various luminescence properties, such as photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL). So generally used in the fields of display, sensors and laser. Metal sulfide materials, therefore, are provided for most widely application in all industries. In recent years, material researchers have become increasingly interested in studying with synthesis of metal sulfide.

Synthesis of CaZrO3 : Eu3+ phosphor by skull melting method (스컬용융법에 의한 CaZrO3 : Eu3+ 형광체 합성)

  • Single crystal phased CaZrO3 : Eu3+ phosphor have been synthesized by skull melting method. The crystal structure, morphology and optical properties of synthesized phosphor were investigated XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), UV (ultraviolet) fluorescence reaction and PL (photo luminescence). The starting materials having chemical composition of CaO: ZrO2 : Eu2O3= 0.962 : 1.013 : 0.025 mol% were charged into a cold crucible. The cold crucible was 120 mm in inner diameter and 150 mm in inner height, and 3 kg of mixed powder (CaO, ZrO2 and Eu2O3) was completely melted within 1 hour at an oscillation frequency of 3.4 MHz, maintained in the molten state for 2 hours, and finally air-cooled. The XRD results show that synthesized phosphor is stabilized in orthorhombic perovskite structure without any impurity phases. The synthesized phosphor could be excited by UV light (254 or 365 nm) and the emission spectra results indicated that bright red luminescence of CaZrO3 : Eu3+ due to magnetic dipole transition 5D07F2 at 615 nm was dominant.

  • The present status and prospects for further development of thin-film electroluminescent (TFEL) devices using oxide phosphors are described. High-luminance oxide TFEL devices have been recently developed using a new combinatorial deposition technique featuring rf magnetron sputtering with a subdivided powder target. In addition, new flexible oxide TFEL devices have been fabricated on an oxide ceramic sheet and operated stably in air above $200^{\circ}C$.

  • The quantum dots (QD) have unique electrical and optical properties due to quantum dot confinement effect. The optical properties of QDs are decided by various synthesis conditions. In a prior QDs study, a study on the QDs size with synthesis condition such as synthesis time and temperature is being extensively researched. However, the research on QDs size with composition ratio has hitherto received scant attention. In order to evaluate the ratio dependence of CdSe crystal, synthesis ratio of Se precursor is changed from 16.7 mol%Se to 44 mol%Se. As the increasing Se ratio, the band gap was increased. This is caused by red shift of emission. We confirmed optical property of CdSe QDs with composition ratio.

Measurement of Absorbed Dose for High Energy Electron using $CaSO_4:Tm$ - PTFE TLD (고에너지 전자선의 흡수선량 측정에 있어서 TLD의 유용성)

  • In this study, the highly sensitive $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs has been fabricated for the purpose of measurement of high energy electron. $CaSO_4:Tm$ phosphor powder was mixed with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) powder and moulded in a disk type(diameter 8.5 mm. thickness $90\;mg/cm^2$) by cold pressing. The absorbed dose distribution and ranges for high energy electron were measured by using the $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs. The ranges determined were $R_{100}=14.5mm$, $R_{50}=24.1mm$ and $R_P=31.8mm$, respectively and the beam flatness, the variation of relative dose in 80% of the field size, was 4.5%. The fabricated $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs nay be utilized in radiation dosimetry for personal, absorbed dose and environmental monitoring.

A Study on the Discharge Characteristics of Micro Dielectric Barrier Discharge Cells by Adding TiO2 or MgO Powder (TiO2 또는 MgO 첨가에 따른 마이크로 유전격벽방전 셀의 방전특성 연구)

  • For a higher definition discharge cell, the method of high speed addressing is necessary. In order to modify the surface charges, the liquefied $TiO_2$ or MgO powder is added on MgO layer in front glass and on the phosphor in rear glass in micro barrier discharge. Both the electro-optical properties and the discharge time lag characteristics are measured from 4 inch. test panel, such as the discharge voltage, current, luminance, luminous efficacy and discharge time lag. As the results, the statistic time lag is improved by about 40 %.

  • This thesis described the optical and electrical properties of the alternating current powder electroluminescent device based on Ag nanowire as a transparent electrode. The Ag nanowire electrode showed the morphology of 20 nm in diameter and 15 ㎛ in length. The transparent electroluminescent devices that were fabricated using the nanomilled ZnS : Cu, Mn phosphor by bar-coating process showed the transmittance of 67%. In order to improve the luminous efficiency, it is necessary to apply the transparent dielectric layer and increase the amount of the nanophosphor while maintaining the transmittance.

Preparation and Low-Voltage Luminescent Properties of $SrTiO_3$:Al, Pr Red Phosphor (저전압용 $SrTiO_3$ : Al, Pr 적색 형광체 합성 및 발광특성)

  • The $SrTi0_3$:Al, Pr red phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction method. Phosphor preparation parameters such as sintering temperature and time were optimized for the photoluminescence(PU intensity and the cathodoluminescence(CL) intensity. Powder samples showed the characteristic X-ray diffraction patterns of the perovskite structure and the average particle size of 3~5/$\mu\textrm{m}$ for particle size distribution(PSD) analysis. Also, scanning electron microscopy for the powder samples showed that the particles are reasonably crystallized with spherical shape. Especially, higher low voltage CL properties of $SrTi0_3$:Al, Pr phosphors than commercial $Y_2O_3$:Eu phosphors are expected to be applied for a low voltage field emission display(FED).
