Ant Colony System(ACS) is a meta heuristic approach based on biology in order to solve combinatorial optimization problem. It is based on the tracing action of real ants which accumulate pheromone on the passed path and uses as communication medium. In order to search the optimal path, ACS requires to explore various edges. In existing ACS, the local updating rule assigns the same pheromone to visited edge. In this paper, our local updating rule gives the pheromone according to the number of visiting times and the distance between visited cities. Our approach can have less local optima than existing ACS and find better solution by taking advantage of more informations during searching.

The travelling salesman problem (TSP) is an important combinatorial optimization problem that is used in several engineering science branches and has drawn interest to several researchers and scientists. In this problem, a salesman from an arbitrary node, called the warehouse, starts moving and returns to the warehouse after visiting n clients, given that each client is visited only once. The objective in this problem is to find the route with the least cost to the salesman. In this study, a meta-based ant colony system algorithm (ACSA) is suggested to find solution to the TSP that does not use local pheromone update. This algorithm uses the global pheromone update and new heuristic information. Further, pheromone evaporation coefficients are used in search space of the problem as diversification. This modification allows the algorithm to escape local optimization points as much as possible. In addition, 3-opt local search is used as an intensification mechanism for more quality. The effectiveness of the suggested algorithm is assessed on a several standard problem instances. The results show the power of the suggested algorithm which could find quality solutions with a small gap, between obtained solution and optimal solution, of 1%. Additionally, the results in contrast with other algorithms show the appropriate quality of competitiveness of our proposed ACSA.
Hemipteran bugs, which were previously considered as secondary pests, have currently become important pests of numerous crops. Among them, Riptortus pedestris (Fabricius) is a major species that occurs in Korea, Japan, China, and South Asian countries. Riptortus pedestris infests leguminous crops like soybean, vetches, and red clover; fruit trees like persimmon and yuju; and grains like barley, foxtail millet, broomcorn, and sorghum. Riptortus pedestris causes the greatest damage to soybean, as it is the most suitable host for the bug. Feeding damage during pod formation significantly reduces the yield of soybean. Currently, 17 insecticides, including diazinon and etofenprox, are registered for the control of hemipteran bugs in Korea, and growers apply insecticides two to three times on a regular basis. Aggregation pheromone traps are widely used as a monitoring tool and partial control measure. The aggregation pheromone of R. pedestris attracts conspecific adults and nymphs and is used for food exploitation rather than sexual attraction. In addition, the pheromone serves as a kairomone for egg parasitoids such as Gryon japonicum (Ashmead) and Ooencyrtus nezarae Ishii. As a new method of pest management, nonviable host eggs were included in the pheromone trap to catch R. pedestris and propagate parasitoids. As a part of cultural practices, resistant soybean varieties with specific color and size of pod and control of flowering time through the alteration of planting date can be used. For the effective management of R. pedestris in the near future, development of cultural practices that can support natural control factors and the use of multiple control tactics are needed.
We desinged and evaluated a remote-sensing sex pheromone trap for real-time monitoring of Mythimna separata (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), a migratory insect in Korea. The system consisted of a modified cone-trap with a sex pheromone lure, a sensing module based on light interruption, a signal transmission module based on code division multiple access, a main electronic board for system control, a power supply based on a solar collector, a stainless steel-pole supporting the system, and a signal collection and display system based on an internet web page. The ratio (>92%) of the actual number of insects to the signal number in the remote-sensing trap was improved by sensing only within a limited period at night on the basis of the insect's circadian rhythm, control of signal sensitivity on the basis of sensing software programming, 1-h interval for signal transmission, and adjustment of the signal transmission program. The signal occurrence pattern in the remote-sensing trap was conclusively similar (correlation coefficient, >0.98) to the actual pattern of adult occurrence in the trap. The result indicated that the remote-sensing trap based on the attraction of the sex pheromone lure for M. separata has a promising potential for practical use. Occurrence of M. separata adults was observed several times in 2011 and 2012, and the peaks were sharp.
This study was examined for activity of aggregation pheromone fish net trap with residual effect of insecticides against Riptortus pedestris. Time of escape was from aggregation pheromone fish net trap researched 49.74 min ($ET_{99}$) and 65.01 min ($ET_{99}$) with 1st and 2nd instar nymph respectively. Six insecticides for the stink bugs were treated to 3 different materials (wood, metal and plastic). Bifenthrin and fenitrothion were showed 100% insecticidal activity at 48 h to all developmental stage of R. pedestris. Residual effect of bifenthrin and fenitrothion on plastic material were showed 100% insecticidal activity over 15 day after treatment with 1st, 3rd instar nymphs and adults except 5th instar nymph. In field test using plastic material trap with two pesticides, 1st instar nymphs and adults were showed 100% mortality until 10 day after treatment. These results indicate that R. pedestris might be managed using aggregation pheromone trap with insecticides.
The apple leafminer, Phyllonorycrer ringoniella (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae), is the most important pest on apple leaves and is not easy to be controlled with insecticides because of leafmining habit of its larvae. This study was undertaken to develop an artificial diet for mass rearing of the moth, and to look at their reproductive behavior. For developing an artificial diet the problem of diet contamination with microorganisms and how to supply artificial diet to first instar larvae have to be solved first. Artificial oviposition trial was successful with shadowy bottomside of various papers sprayed with apple leaf extracts. The highest activity of both calling and mating was observed within 30 min. after the onset of photophase and 3- to 4-day -old adults showed the highest mating rate. A ring-shaped sex pheromone gland was found at the intersegmental membrane between the 8th and 9th abdominal segments of the female. (E, 2)-4,lOtetradecadienyl acetate was identified as the major component from the femall gland extracts by the gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry. Additionally it was thought that (a-10-tetradecenyl acetate could be the second component of their sex pheromone.

The female sex pheromone of the peach leafminer, Lyonetia clerkella Linne (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), was analyzed by coupled gas chromatographic-electroantennographic detector (GC-EAD). GC-EAD analyses of pheromone gland extract revealed a single compound that elicited responses from male antennae. Retention time on DB-1 column of EAD-active compound was identical to that of synthetic (145)-14-Methyl-1-octadecene (14Sme-1-18Hy). In field tests, sticky traps baited with synthetic 14Sme-1-18Hy alone were highly attractive to male. Traps with 0.1 mg dose showed the lowest catches, but there were no significant difference in the numbers of moth caught in traps baited with doses of 0.5 and 1.0 mg. The results of the field assays for longevity of pheromone traps showed that effectiveness of lures maintained for at least 8 weeks under field condition. The attractiveness of 14Sme-1-18Hy was not affected by the addition of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in lures as an antioxidant. Traps baited with 0.5 mg 14Sme-1-18Hy were successfully used to monitor L. clerkella male flights. Analysis of seasonal trap catches over two years showed that moth flight activity in peach orchards occurred over a period of seven months with six generations in Suwon.

Local and seasonal populations of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta, were monitored with sex pheromone trapping and RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) molecular marker to analyze their movement in apple orchards. To detect their movements among farms, pheromone traps were placed at regions between apple farms ('outside-farms') as well as within-farms ('inside-farms'). Four seasonal adult peaks were evident in apple-cultivating fields from April to October in both trappings of inside- or outside-farms. After overwintering generation, populations of inside-farms were significantly reduced with frequent insecticide applications, compared to populations of outside-farms. Within apple farms, G. molesta tended to be unevenly distributed because of significant sublocal preference. Active movements of local and seasonal populations of G. molesta were supported by gene flow analysis using RAPD marker. Monitoring data using sex pheromone and seasonal reduction in initial genetic differentiation detected in the overwintering populations suggest that there must be significant movement of G. molesta among different orchards in apple-cultivating areas.
The kairomonal activity of the aggregation pheromones of Riptortus clavatus for the egg parasitoid, Gryon japonicum, were investigated in soybean field. The parasitism rate of G. japonicum gradually decreased when the distances between pheromone traps and egg sites were increased from 0 to 15 m. The active distance of pheromone source for parasitoid attraction was estimated to be ca. 15 m. Under field conditions, the parasitoid wasp population peaked during the late August and early September, and the parasitism rate increased when the number of pheromone traps was increased from one to three per $165\;m^2$. However, insecticide-treated plots, the level of parasitism recorded is relatively low. Sex ratios in field populations of G. japonicum were female-biased.
The cryptic mealybug, Pseudococcus cryptus, has been increasingly damaging citrus, particularly those plants grown in plastic greenhouses. This study was conducted to monitor the seasonal phenology of adult male cryptic mealybugs and to determine the timing for control using a sex pheromone trap. Adult males responded to a synthetic sex pheromone and trap color. An increasing number of males were attracted to the traps with increasing concentrations of sex pheromone up to 5 mg. The males occurred annually four times and had three cohorts at a time due to different overwintering developmental stages. After overwintering the adult males began to in mid-late April. A positive correlation was observed between the number of adult males caught in traps and the mean density per twig of all motile stages except first stage nymphs of the cryptic mealybugs. The peak time for the first nymph to occur was estimated from the maximum attraction time of the males, and the cumulative degree days (DD) was 350 DD, similar with the preoviposition period.
