Phase Transformation of Sn-Pb-Bi Solder for Photovoltaic Ribbon: A Real-time Synchrotron X-ray Scattering Study

  • The phase transformation of Sn-Pb-Bi solder for photovoltaic ribbon during soldering was studied using real-time synchrotron x-ray scattering. At room temperature, Sn and Pb crystal phases in the solder existed separately. By heating to $92^{\circ}C$, a new PbBi alloy crystal phase was formed, which grew further up to $160^{\circ}C$. The Sn crystal phase first started to melt at $160^{\circ}C$, and was mostly melted at $165^{\circ}C$. In contrast, the Pb and PbBi crystal phases started to melt at $165^{\circ}C$, and were mostly melted at $170^{\circ}C$. The useful result was obtained, that the solder's melting temperature decreased from $183^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$ by addition of a small amount of Bi atoms to the eutectic Sn62-Pb38 (wt%) solder. Our study first revealed the detailed in-situ phase transformation of Sn-Pb-Bi solder during heating to the eutectic temperature. Considering the results of peel strength and hardness, adding 1 wt% of Bi atoms to the Sn62-Pb38 (wt%) solder produced an appropriate composition.

Behaviour of Uranyl Phosphate Containing Solid Waste During Thermal Treatment for the Purpose of Sentencing and Immobilisation: Preliminary Results

  • Thermal decomposition of the uranyl phosphate mineral phase meta-ankoleite (KUO2PO4·3H2O) has been considered in relation to high temperature thermal sintering for the immobilisation of a uranyl phosphate containing waste. Meta-ankoleite thermal decomposition was studied across the temperature range 25 - 1200℃ under an inert N2 atmosphere at 1 atm. It is shown that the meta-ankoleite mineral phase undergoes a double de-hydration event at 56.90 and 125.85℃. Subsequently, synthetically produced pure meta-ankoleite remains stable until at least 1150℃ exhibiting no apparent phase changes. In contrast, when present in a mixed waste the meta-ankoleite phase is not identifiable after thermal treatment indicating incorporation within the bulk waste either as an amorphous phase and/or as uranium oxide. Visual inspection of the waste post thermal treatment showed evidence of self-sintering owing to the presence of glass former materials, namely, silica (SiO2) and antimony(V) oxide (Sb2O5). Therefore, incorporation of the uranium phase into the waste as part of waste sentencing and immobilisation via high temperature sintering for the purpose of long-term disposal is deemed feasible.

급속응고한 AZ91 합금의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 Misch metal 첨가의 영향 (The Effect of Misch Metal Addition on the Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Rapidly Solidified AZ91 Alloy)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of misch metal addition on the microstructure and mechanical property of rapidly solidified AZ91 alloy by melt spinning process. As the contents of misch metal(rare earth element:Ce,La, Nd, Pr)was increased, the microstructure of RS ribbons and extrudates became finer than those of AZ91, and RE related phases($Al_{11}RE_3$, $Al_2RE$) were formed. At room temperature, the rapidly solidified AZ91+1 wt%Mm alloy showed the highest tensile strength, 430 MPa due to precipitation strengthening of${\beta}(Mg_{17}Al_{12})$ phase and Al11RE3 phase. At the elevated temperature, the mechanical property of AZ01+3 wt%Mm alloy was higher than those of other Mg alloys. The reasons were that $Al_{11}La_3$ phase was thermally stable and suppressed the grain growth. In contrast with $Al_{11}La_3$ phase, ${\beta}$ phase was thermally unstable and could not suppress the grain growth at the elevated temperature. Therefore, Al11RE3 phase contributed to improve the thermal stability of RS AZ91 Alloy.

Hepatic Angiomyolipoma Presenting as a Hyperintense Lesion During the Hepatobiliary Phase of Gadoxetic Acid Enhanced-MRI: a Case Report

  • Gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been widely used to detect and characterize focal hepatic lesions. Because gadoxetic acid is a hepatocyte-specific contrast agent, its patterns during hepatobiliary phase enhancement provide useful information for differential diagnoses of focal hepatic lesions. Hepatic angiomyolipoma (AML) is a rare mesenchymal hepatic neoplasm composed of blood vessels, epithelioid cells, and varying amounts of adipose tissue components. Hepatic AMLs usually show marked hypointensity during the hepatobiliary phase of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI as hepatic AMLs are devoid of hepatocytes and fibrotic components. The present study describes a patient with hepatic AML and an atypical imaging feature. This tumor showed hyperintensity during the hepatobiliary phase of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI, mimicking hepatocellular tumors such as hepatocellular adenoma. The hepatobiliary hyperintensity of this lesion was likely due to multifocal entrapped hepatocytes resulting from an intrasinusoidal growth pattern of tumor cells and insufficient hepatic parenchymal enhancement during the hepatobiliary phase of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI.

쥐를 이용한 새로운 가돌리늄 조영제 Gd-DTPA-bis(amide)(L3)의 약동학 및 생체내 분포 특성에 대한 연구 (Pharmacokinetics and Bio-distribution of New Gd-complexes of DTPA-bis (amide) (L3) in a Rat Model)

  • 목적: DTPA-bis-amide (L3) Gd(III) 복합체의 약동학 및 생체내 분포특성을 조사하고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: Sprague-Dawley 쥐의 꼬리정맥을 통하여 0.1 mmol Gd/kg의 DTPA-bis-amide (L3) Gd(III) 복합체를 주사한 후 약동학 및 생체내 분포 특성을 조사하였다. 조직 및 장기 그리고 혈중 Gd 농도를 ICP-AES를 사용하여 정량 측정하였으며 혈중 약동학적 파라미터는 two-compartment 모델을 사용하여 계산하였다. 결과: DTPA-bis-amide (L3) Gd(III) 복합체의 혈중 반감기는 ${\alpha}$-phase의 경우 $2.286{\pm}0.11$ min 그리고 ${\beta}$-phase의 경우 $146.1{\pm}7.5$ min 이었다. 생체내 분포특성은 주요 배설 경로는 신장을 통한 배설이 주요 경로였으며 일부 담도계를 통한 배설이 확인되었다. 또한 Gd(III)의 농도비는 다른 장기에 비해 간과 비장에서 매우 높은 농도를 보였으며 일부 Gd(III)이 정맥주사 후 7일후에 혈액 및 일부 장기에서 매우 소량 검출되었다. 결론: 새로운 조영제인 DTPA-bis-amide (L3) Gd(III) 복합체는 혈중 잔류시간이 상대적으로 길면서도 체내 축적없이 체외로 배출되는 특성을 나타내었다. 따라서 친지질성과 친수성의 균형이 잘 이루어진 가돌리늄 조영제의 합성은 향후 blood pool MRI 조영제로써의 가능성이 매우 높은 것으로 판단된다.

${T_2}weighted$- Half courier Echo Planar Imaging

  • 목적 : 초고속 Echo Planar Imaging (EPI) 의 데이터 측정시간을 반으로 단축시킨 half courier EPI와 임상에서 널리 사용하는 $T_2$ 강조 영상을 결합한 $T_2$-weighted half courier EPI(T2HEPl) 영상기법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법으로 강한 $T_2$ 대조도를 갖는 $128{\times}128$의 고해상도 EPI 영상을 single scan으로 얻고자 한다. 대상 및 방법 : 초고속 EPI 기법의 데이터 측정시간을 줄이기 위하여 k-space의 절반만을 측정하고, 나머지 절반은 conjugate symmetry 성질을 이용하여 재구성한다. 따라서 64개의 에코로 $128{\times}128$의 고해상도 single shot 영상을 얻을 수 있다. 또한 k-space 데이터의 순서를 시간 축에서 조절하여 강한 $T_2$ 대조도를 갖는 영상을 얻을 수 있다 Eddy current의 영향으로 phase encoding 방향으로 잔류 경사자계가 있을 경우 측정된 데이터들은 k-space에서 이동이 되며 , 이것은 재구성 영상에 심각한 문제점을 초래하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 pre-scan에서 얻은 기준 데이터와 dc에 해당하는 에코간의 상관도를 측정하여 이동을 추정하며, 초기의 phase encoding gradient의 크기를 조정하여 이러한 이동을 제거한다. 결과 : 제안한 $T_2$-weighted half courier EPI 영상기법을 1.0 Tesla 전신 MRI 시스템에 적용하였다. 실험 조건은 single shot으로 TR은 무한대이고, TE는 72ms와 96ms로 설정하였다. 제안한 영상기법을 이용하여 single scan으로 강한 $T_2$ 대조도를 갖는 128x128의 고해상도 EPI 영상을 얻을 수 있었다. 결론 : 제안한 Half Fourier기법을 이용하여 기존의 $64{\times}64$ 영상보다 해상도를 높인 $128{\times}128$ EPI영상을 single scan으로 얻을수 있었으며, 에코의 적절한 배치를 통해 임상에서 널리 사용되는 $T_2$ 대조도를 얻을 수 있었다. 제안한 방법은 특별한 하드웨어의 추가 없이, 펄스 시퀀스와 tuning 및 재구성 알고리즘 등의 소프트웨어적인 방법만으로 구현이 가능하여 많은 임상 응용이 기대된다.

  • This paper is concerned on developing DC-DC converter. In contrast to resonant converter, this converter requires no external resonant elements and operates with constant switching frequency. In conventional PWM converter, two MOSFET switches of the converter are simultaneously turned on and turned off. In presented converter, to achieve Zero Voltage Switching, the two legs of the bridge are operated DC-DC converter is phase shifted. Phase shifted Full Bridge ZVS PWM Converter have an effect on the power system. Operation principle and features are illustrated by the experiment results from 50W, 250kHz with MOSFET switch.

Inter-Phase Transformers를 이용한 고온 초전도 케이블의 층간 전류 등분배 방안 (Uniform Current Distribution among Conductor Layers in HTS Cables Using Inter-Phase Transformers)

  • Uniform current distribution among conductor layers in HTS cables using IPTs (inter-phase transformers) was investigated. Conventional methods for current distribution, in which resistors are inserted to conductor layers, causes additional loss. In contrast, IPTs, which use magnetic coupling, make it possible that the current in parallel circuits is distributed uniformly with any load, and minimize the loss. In this study, IPTs were designed and fabricated for examination of uniform current distribution in the conductor layers of HTS cables. The ITP was designed through calculation of its impedance that can cancel the inductance of the conduction layers. The experimental setup consisted of four IPTs and four inductors that simulate the conductor layer inductance. Each layer was designed to feed 10 A. We examined the behavior of current distribution with IPTs for various layer inductances.

짧은 결합길이를 갖는 초소형 발룬 및 이를 응용한 평형 필터 설계 (Miniaturized Balun with Reduced Coupled-Line and its Application to the Design of Balanced-Type Filter)

  • A distributed balun such as Marchand balun typically shows good phase and amplitude balances, but its size is somewhat large especially in lower frequency band. In contrast, a lumped balun has compact size but its performance is not good compared with that of a distributed one. In this paper the distributed-coupled line can be reduced effectively by using the lumped-distributed implementation. Designed balun has two coupled line of each ${\lambda}/72$ and shows magnitude balance of 0.05 dB, phase balance of $0.7^{\circ}$ in passband. Balanced-type filter is designed using balun and it has insertion loss of 8 dB, return loss of 7 dB, magnitude balance of 0.2 dB, and phase balance of $1.2^{\circ}$ in passband.

Coarsening Effects on the Formation of Microporous Membranes

  • The microstructure of polymer membranes produced via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) of polymer solutions is a strong function of both the early-stage (by spinodal decomposition or nucleation & growth) and the late-stage phase separation (referred to in general as coarsening). In the case of early stage effects, the membrane morphology resulting from a nucleation & growth mechanism is either a poorly interconnecsed, stringy, beady structure which is mechanically fragile or a well interconnected structure with highly nonuniform pore sizes. In contrast, spinodal decomposition results in a well interconnected, mechanically strong membrane with highly uniform pore sizes. Here I describe recent quantitative studies of the coarsening effects on the microstructure of membranes produced via TIPS process. The dependence of microstructure on coarsening time, quench depth, solution viscosity, and polymer molecular weight was investigated in order to distinguish among three possible coarsening mechanisms, Ostwald ripening, coalescence, and hydrodynamic flow, which may be responsible for structural evolution after the early-stage phase Separation (spinodal decomposition or nucleation & growth).
