3-D Spectrograms for 22 events are drawn to discern about whether those are earthquakes or explosions. Generally, in case of explosions relative to the case of earthquakes, amplitude of P phase is more dominantly shown. According to the results on logarithm of spectral ratio of P (Pn, Pg)/Lg after removing free-surface effects from 3-D (U-D, N-S, E-W) seismogram, $-1.2{\sim}-0.9$ is shown for earthquakes and $-0.7{\sim}-0.1$ if shown for explosions. This result is consistent with previous researches (Kim Park, 1997) that -0.6 of spectral ratio between P and Lg after taking logarithm may be the criterion for the discrimination between earthquakes and explosions in Korea. In addition, Complexity is applied to two events as another discrimination method. The value of Complexity of explosion is much smaller than that of earthquake. This may be due to well-developed P-wave in explosion compared to that in earthquake. This result is in accordance with that of 3-D Spectrogram.

Currently, in KS C IEC 60079-10-1, the leakage hole radius of secondary leakage is expressed as a recommendation. Underestimation of leak hole size can lead to underestimation of the calculated values for leak rates, and conservative calculations of leak hole sizes, which are considered for safety reasons, can be overestimated, resulting in an overestimated risk range. This too should be avoided. Therefore, a careful and balanced approach is necessary when estimating the size of leaking holes.Based on this logic, this study examines the stability by grasping the concentration inside the gas box when leaking dangerous substances as a result of experiments based on SEMI S6, an international safety standard applied in the semiconductor industry and The scope of explosion hazardous area was determined by applying the formula of KS C IEC 60079-10-1 according to SEMI F15 leak rate criteria and SEMI S6 leak rate criteria. Based on this, we will examine whether the exhaust performance needs to be improved as an alternative to FAB facilities that are difficult to apply to explosion hazards such as semiconductor industry.

It is necessary to install the inert gas system(IGS) for preventing fire and explosion in LNGC main diesel engine crankcase besides oil mist detector(OMD) unit with $CO_2$ gas injector. Therefore, to design the liquid nitrogen IGS, analytical work is conducted for predicting the heat input load of liquid nitrogen heater with two-phase stratified flow model. This paper also presents the effects of changes in pipe diameter, saturated pressure, and inclination angle by ship's movement on cryogenic two-phase stratified flows. It is found that the stratified model gives reasonable predictions, and the model is effective to predict the heat input load of liquid nitrogen IGS.
To study the water-entry impact noise, on-board experiment using a small launcher firing various objects was performed in the Yellow Sea. As the launcher fires a cylindrical object from the ship vertically, generated noise is measured with a hydrophone on the starboard of Chung-hae, Marine surveyor. Three types of cylindrical objects, which have noses of flat-faced, conical, and hemisphere, were used during the experiment. The measured noise exhibits a time-dependency which can be divided into three phases: (1) initial impact phase, (2) open cavity flow phase, (3) cavity collapse and bubble oscillation phase. In most cases, the waveform of bubble oscillation phase is dominant rather than that of initial impact phase. Pinch-off time, where a cavity begins to collapse, occurs at 0.18 ~ 0.2 second and the average lasting time of bubble was 0.9 ~ 1.3 second. The energy of water-entry impact noise is focused in the frequency region lower than 100 Hz, and the generated noise is influenced by the nose shapes, object mass, and launching velocity. As a result, energy spectral density on the bubble frequency is higher in the order of flat-faced, conical, hemisphere nose, and the increase of initial energy raises the energy spectral density on the bubble frequency in the cylinder body of same shape. Finally, we compare the measurements with the simulated signals and spectrum based on the bubble explosion physics, and obtain satisfactory agreements between them.
The realistic Visual Effects using fluid simulation in 3D computer graphics are operated as important factors to improve the quality of images. The process of creating realistic motions of water, fire, explosion by controlling each property of fluid is called fluid simulation. In general, the creation of a fluid simulation concentrates on the main simulation work phase, however an effective method for initial set up is important for the main simulation work. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors involved in the initial emission motion and shape of fluid and propose methods that can efficiently apply this into the initial set up. For the process of the research, first, problems are raised based on related researches, and second, two experiments, 'Dynamic Fluid Emitter Creation' and 'User Design Type Emission Velocity Solution', are conducted for more effective fluid simulation. Through this research, the effective fluid simulation of initial set up phase will be suggested through the user design-type emission control solutions.
We describe our ongoing project, Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies. This survey is designed to study transients such as Supernovae (SNe) in nearby galaxies. Our targets are UV-bright (MUV < -18.4) and nearby (d < 50 Mpc) 50 galaxies selected from a GALEX catalog, whose star formation rates are larger than normal galaxies. High star formation in these galaxies ensures that core-collapse supernova explosions occur more frequently in them than normal galaxies. By monitoring them with a short cadence of a few hours, we expect to discover 5 SNe/yr events. Most importantly, we hope to construct very early light curves in rising phase for some of them, which enables us to understand better the physical properties of progenitor star and the explosion mechanism. To enable such a high cadence observation, we constructed a world wide telescope network covering northern, southern hemisphere distributed over a wide range of longitudes (Korea, US, Australia, Uzbekistan and Spain). Data reduction pipe line, detection and classification algorithms are being developed for an efficient processing of the data. Using the network of telescopes, we expect to reach observe not only SNe but also other transients like GRBs, Asteroid, variable AGNs and gravitaional wave optical counter part.
The understanding of the pressure associated with air blast, which travels through air, and its effect on surface and underground structures is highly important. It is necessary to determine the pressure change with time and distance for a computer simulation of the explosion impact on a structure. From the previous studies, many empirical equations for estimating the parameters related to the pressure change. In this study, the empirical equations for predicting peak overpressure, duration of positive phase, impulse, minimum negative pressure, duration of negative pressure, arrival time, and decay constant were reviewed and analyzed. Also, the pressure changes predicted from the Kingery equation, which is the most commonly used, and from the other empirical equations were compared.

Most transformer use insulating and cooling fluids derived from petroleum crude oil, but mineral oil is some possibility of environmental pollution and fire with explosion. vegetable oil fluids extracted from seed has superior biodegradation and fire-resistant properties including an exceptionally high fire point enhancing fire safety. In this study, it is aimed at the practicality of substituting natural ester dielectric fluid for mineral oil in liquid insulation system of transformers. As a rise in coil winding temperature has a direct influence on transformer life time, it is important to evaluate the temperature rise of coil winding in vegetable oil in comparison with mineral oil. Three transformers for the test are designed with 10KVA, 13.2KV, one phase unit. The temperature are directly measured in insulating oil of these transformers with the two sorts of natural ester and mineral oil dielectric fluid respectively. Temperature of vegetable oil transformers was similar to temperature of mineral oil transformer in the same design at 80% load and above.

Low-speed Diesel Engine, 7K60MC-S, in Power Plant have been experienced high vibration frequently since these units were completed the construction works, but they did not have any fundamental vibration solutions up to date. Therefore, several vibration tests and analyses are conducted to identify the root cause of high vibration and to suggest the optimal countermeasures for diesel engine. The 9.25Hz & 25.4Hz vibrations have been observed on main body during operation. The magnitude of engine upper structural vibration is generally similar in horizontal transverse direction. However, differences in the 'Fore' and 'After' vibration magnitude at 9.25Hz occurs due to the inertia momentum added by SCR duct system with the same vibration phase angle. It is analyzed that the excess structural vibration be occurred when the natural frequency of engine body is accessed the exciting sources due to the explosion pressure and the discharge pulsation of 7 cylinders in resonance range.

One of the keys to interpreting the characteristics and evolution of interstellar medium in the Milky Way is to understand the distribution of hot gas ($10^5-10^6K$). Gases in this phase are difficult to observe because they are in low density and lack of easily observable tracers. Hot gases are observed mainly in the emission of the FUV ($912-1800{\AA}$), EUV ($80-912{\AA}$), and X-rays (T> $10^6K$) of which attenuation is very high. Of these, FUV emission lines originated from high-stage ions such as O VI and C IV can be the most effective tracers of hot gases. To determine the spatial distribution of O VI and C IV emissions, we have analyzed the spectra obtained from FIMS (Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph), which covers about 80 percent of the sky. The hot gas volume filling factor, which varies widely from 0.1 to 0.9 depending on the supernova explosion frequency and the evolution model, has been calculated from the O VI and C IV maps. The hot gas generation models has been verified from the global distribution of O VI and C IV emissions, and a new complementary model has been proposed in this study.
