  • In this paper, the input equivalent resistances of the n phase-diode average and envelope detection. circuits for the sinusoidal signal waveforms are analytically derived from the power loss in their load resistances, and the input equivalent resistance of the n phase-diode envelope detection circuits for the arbitrary signal waveforms is also obtained from the same physical conception.

  • The common-envelope process is a complicated phase in binary evolution. A lot of effort has been dedicated to study the common-envelope stage, but many questions related to this process are yet to be answered. If one member of the binary survives the common-envelope phase, the binary will emerge as a white dwarf accompanied by a low-mass main sequence star in close orbit, often referred as a post common-envelope binary (PCEB). SDSS J0745+2631 is among the list of newly found PCEBs from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). This star is proposed to be a strong eclipsing system candidate due to the ellipsoidal modulation in its light curve. In this work, we aim to confirm the eclipsing nature of SDSS J0745+2631 and to determine the stellar and orbital parameters using the software Binary Maker 3.0 (BM3.0). We detected the primary eclipse in the light curve of SDSS J0745+2631 in our follow-up observation from January 2014 using the ULTRASPEC instrument at the Thai National Observatory. The data obtained on 7th and 8th January 2014 in g filter show an evident drop in brightness during the eclipse of the white dwarf, but this eclipse is less prominent in the data taken on the next night using a clear filter. According to our preliminary model, we find that SDSS J0745+2631 hosts a rather hot white dwarf with an effective temperature of 11500K. The companion star is a red dwarf star with a temperature of 3800K and radius of 0.3100 $R_{\odot}$. The red dwarf star almost fills its Roche lobe, causing a large ellipsoidal modulation. The mass ratio of the binary given by the Binary Maker 3.0 (BM3.0) model is M2/M1 = 0.33.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for artificial bandwidth extension of narrow-band signal in frequency domain. In the proposed method, a narrow-band signal is decomposed into excitation signal and spectral envelope, which are extended independently in frequency domain. The excitation signal is extended such that low-band harmonic structure is maintained in high band, and the spectral envelope is extended based on sub-band energy using NMF. Finally, the spectral phase is determined based on signal correlation between frames in time domain, resulting in the final wide-band signal. The subjective evaluation verified that the wide-band signal generated by the proposed method has a higher quality than the original narrow-band signal.

  • The Sinusoidal Transform Coding(STC) is a vocoding scheme based on a sinusoidal model of a speech signal. The low bit-rate speech coding based on sinusoidal model is a method that models and synthesizes speech with fundamental frequency and its harmonic elements, spectral envelope and phase in the frequency region. In this paper, we propose the 2.4kbps low-rate speech coding algorithm using the sinusoidal model of a speech signal. In the proposed coder, the pitch frequency is estimated by choosing the frequency that makes least mean squared error between synthetic speech with all spectrum peaks and speech synthesized with chosen frequency and its harmonics. The spectral envelope is estimated using SEEVOC(Spectral Envelope Estimation VOCoder) algorithm and the discrete all-pole model. The phase information is obtained using the time of pitch pulse occurrence, i.e., the onset time, as well as the phase of the vocal tract system. Experimental results show that the synthetic speech preserves both the formant and phase information of the original speech very well. The performance of the coder has been evaluated in terms of the MOS test based on informal listening tests, and it achieved over the MOS score of 3.1.

  • The phase change upon reflection from target surfaces in white-light interferometer induces measurement errors when target surfaces are composed of dissimilar materials. We prove that this phase change on reflection considered of the polarization of the white-light causes the shift of both envelope peak position and fringe peak position of several tens of nanometer. In addition, we propose a new equation of white-light interference fringe pertinent to the polarization of source.

  • In this paper we derive the probability density function of the phase error and that of the envelope of the received signal over Nakagami fading channel. Using the new probability density functions we analyze the performance of coherent BPSK, noncoherent FSK, DPSK and noncoherent ASK on Nakagami fading by means of new methods.

  • In DS/CDMA(direct sequence code division multiple access) system using the approximated analytic chip waveforms are applied. Proposed chip waveforms are classified into 2 types: uniform chip waveforms with uniform envelope and non-uniform chip waveforms with non-uniform envelope. It has confirmed that the similarity of the approximated analytical chip waveforms is compared using chip waveforms, envelope, phase, correlation, and bandwidth properties.

  • Protostars grow their mass by the accretion of disk material, which is infalling from the envelope. This accretion process is important to the physical and chemical conditions of the disk and envelope, and thus, the planets yet to be formed from the disk material. Therefore, if we map the physical and chemical properties of disks and envelopes, we can study indirectly the accretion process in star formation. In particular, the chemical distribution in the disk and the inner envelope of a young stellar object is greatly affected by the thermal history, which is mainly determined by the accretion process in the system. In my talk, I will review the episodic accretion model for the low mass star formation and observational efforts to find the evidence of episodic accretion. Finally, I will present our recent ALMA detection of several complex organic molecules associated directly with the planet formation in V883 Ori, which is in the burst accretion phase.
