Customer Misbehavior in Retail Settings: The Retail Employee Perspective (유통환경에서의 고객 부정행동 고찰: 유통업체 종업원 관점)

  • This study examined customer misbehaviors in retail settings by identifying behavioral patterns and exploring behavioral backgrounds and consequences from the employee's perspectives. Qualitative data were collected from an individual interview method, and 222 interviews were analyzed. Customer misbehavior was categorized into unethical returns, problem behaviors in service encounters, unreasonable demands, shoplifting/fraud, ill-mannered behaviors, and selfish behaviors. Behavioral backgrounds included dissatisfaction, unreasonable expectations, actively benefiting of service failures, taking advantage of service standards, illegitimate complaints, monetary gains, transferring responsibility, and demanding special treatment. Employees experienced stress facing misbehaving customers with no other choice except to accept misbehaviors and learned misbehaviors as customers themselves. The study further discusses the implications.

  • Current interest in mathematics learning that focuses on understanding, mathematical reasoning and meaning making underscores the need to develop ways of analyzing classrooms that foster these types of learning. In this paper, I show that the constructs of social and sociomathematical norms, which grew out of taking a symbolic interactionist perspective, and Toulmins scheme for argumentation as elaborated for mathematics education by Krummheuer, provide us with means to analyze aspects of explanation justification and argumentation in mathematics classrooms, including means through which they can be fostered. Examples from a variety of classrooms are used to clarify how these notions can inform instruction at all levels, from the elementary grades through university-level mathematics.

Exploration on Interpersonal Problems, Emotional Clarity, and Empathic Ability in Engineering Students (공과대학생의 대인관계문제, 정서인식명확성, 공감능력 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore characteristics of engineering students' Interpersonal Problems, Emotional Clarity, and Empathic Ability compared with humanities and social sciences students. A total of 739 college students participated in the study (459 enginerring students and 280 humanities and social sciences students). We tested research question by employing the t-test. The result showed that engineering students have higher level of clarity of feelings, perspective taking, empathic concern and lower level of attention to feelings, personal distress than humanities and social sciences students. Moreover, engineering students showed lower level of cold, socially avoidant, exploitable problems than humanities and social sciences students. We dicussed that programs aiming at developing engineering students' emotional awareness and improving their interpersonal relationships should be provided.

  • 救急醫學 was initiated with the emergence of mankind. 救急方 was written in the federal government and published in the state government taking orders from 世祖 to meet various needs; stabilization of public welfare, reinforcement of the royal authority, a need for a book for common use in the medical field, as well as pure interest in medicine coming from the king himself. 救急 includes not only emergencies but also rapid transitions of diseases encountered in everyday life. 救急方 successes the tradition of 鄕藥救急方 in that it helps anyone to appropriately treat emergencies. 救急簡易方, 救急易解方, and 諺解救急方 of later generations all were directly influenced by 救急方 and carried on the tradition of 救急.

The Development of real-time system for taking the dimensions of objects with arbitray shape

  • In this paper, we propose a method fur measuring the dimensions of an arbitrary object using geometric relationship between a perspective projection image and a rectangular parallelepiped model. For recognizing the vertexes of the rectangular parallelepiped surrounding an arbitrary object, the method adopts a strategy that derives the equations for vertex recognition from the geometrical relationships for image formation between 2D image and the rectangular parallelepiped model. extracts from 2D image with vertical view features (or junctions) of minimum quadrangle circumscribing an arbitrary shape object, and then recognizes vertexes from the features with the equations. Finally, the dimensions of the object are calculated from these results of vertex recognition. By the experimental results, it is demonstrated that this method is very effective to recognize the vertexes of the arbitrary objects.

In addition, new 3D printing materials for mouthgurad, 3D Computer-Aided Design(CAD) software for dental appliance, evaluation of a virtual dentoalveolar model for testing virtually 3D designed mouthguard, and lightweight sensor technology will lead dental professionals to the new era of Sports Dentistry, including information technology integrated custom mouthguard fabrication and creating value with analytic data acquired from sensors in mouthguard.

  • A GIS-based tunnelling risk management system (GIS-TURIMS) has been developed in this study, The developed system uses ArcView 8.2 as a basic platform and the built-in interface (VBA) has been used to perform first-order simplified analyses for prediction of tunnelling-induced ground movements and building damage assessment. The main emphasis in this study was to develop a working framework that can be used in the perspective of tunnelling risk management. The developed system is capable of carrying out computationally intensive analyses for ground movement prediction as well as building/utilities damage assessment with fully taking advantage of the GIS technologies.   • Taking into account the geometrical and material nonlinearities, an ultimate behavior of reinforced concrete cooling tower shell in hyperbolic configuration is presented. The design wind pressures suggested in the guidelines of the US (ACI) and Germany (VGB), with or without the effect of internal suction, are employed in the analysis to examine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of each design wind pressure. The geometrical nonlinearity is incorporated by the Green-Lagrange strain tensor. The nonlinear features of concrete, such as the nonlinear stress-strain relation in compression, the tensile cracking with the smeared crack model, an effect of tension stiffening, are taken into account. The biaxial stress state in concrete is represented by an improved work-hardening plasticity model. From the perspective of quality of wind pressures, the two guidelines are determined as highly correlated each other. Through the extensive analysis on the Niederaussem cooling tower in Germany, not only the ultimate load is determined but also the mechanism of failure, distribution of cracks, damage processes, stress redistributions, and mean crack width are examined.

Identification of Key Nodes in Microblog Networks

  • A microblog is a service typically offered by online social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook. From the perspective of information dissemination, we define the concept behind a spreading matrix. A new WeiboRank algorithm for identification of key nodes in microblog networks is proposed, taking into account parameters such as a user's direct appeal, a user's influence region, and a user's global influence power. To investigate how measures for ranking influential users in a network correlate, we compare the relative influence ranks of the top 20 microblog users of a university network. The proposed algorithm is compared with other algorithms - PageRank, Betweeness Centrality, Closeness Centrality, Out-degree - using a new tweets propagation model - the Ignorants-Spreaders-Rejecters model. Comparison results show that key nodes obtained from the WeiboRank algorithm have a wider transmission range and better influence.
