The Characteristics of Single-Parent Family Strengths and Related Variables (한부모가족의 건강성 관련 특성과 변인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the strengths of single-parent families and the related variables based on the family strength approach. The major findings were as follows. First, good communication, family bond, children's adjustment and coping ability were characteristics of single-parent family strengths. Secondly, strengths of single-parent family were related to income and period of becoming a single-parent family. Thirdly, single parents who had a higher level of personal resources such as high self-esteem and economic stability perceived a higher level of family strengths. Fourth, single parents who had a higher level of social support perceived a higher level of family strength. Fifth, there was no interaction effect between personal resource and social resource on single-parent family strengths. Last, both personal and social resources had effects on the strength of single- parent family. Especially personal resource and self-esteem were the most important variables and had a strong influence on single-parent family strengths. The results of this study have important implications for theory, research and practice. Research on the strengths of the Korean single-parent family is new and more extensive investigation is required.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of influence on the elderly’s life adjustment and decision making in the family. For these research tasks the data were collected through interview. the respondents were 296 of man and woman elderly who lived in JeonJu. It was analyzed by various statistical methods such as Frequency, Percentile, ANOVA, correlate, t-test, Multiple Regression Analysis. The finding of this study are as follows; 1) Decision-making of the elderly in family had significant differences I the area of sex, the sum of monthly personal expenses, satisfaction level of personal expenses, subjective economic level and self-esteem in the order named. 2) Elderly life-adjustment had significant differences in the area of the residential district, the present job, the situation of a apouse, religion, education, the sum of the monthly personal expenses, health, satisfaction level of personal expenses, subjective economics level and self-esteem. 3) When we observe relationship with the elderly decision-making in family and life-adjustment, relation decision-making in family and life-adjustment appeared positively. 4) Decision-making of the elderly in family had the significant differences according to the variables such as sex, the sum of monthly personal expenses, and self-esteem in the order named, and the most influential factor among them was sex. 5) Elderly life-adjustment had the significant differences according to the variables such as self-esteem, decision-making, religion, health, the sum of the monthly personal expenses, the residential district in the order named. The most influential factor was self-esteem and the explanary of those variables for the elderly life-adjustment was 55.1%.

  • This research has analyzed the differentiated influence of organizational variables(an organization's learning culture and organizational support networks) and personal variables(the individual's motivation to learn and self-efficacy) on the process of gaining and using of knowledge. These two variables have been regarded as the major variables for the successful learning of 6Sigma, according to Social Cognitive Theory. In addition, this research has proven the role structure of the abovementioned two variables through a suitable methodology(Hierarchical Linear Model). In regard to this methodology, the different hierarchical level of the personal variable and organizational variable was especially focused on, and the effect of interaction between the high level and the low level was considered in detail. Considering the current situation, in that the importance of organizational factor and personal factor has been emphasized but the accurate role of each variable has not been verified, the research model is thought to help to establish an effective strategy to implement 6 Sigma.

  • The purpose of this study is to descriptively reveal the demographic and business profile and personal-entrepreneurial characteristics in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, and secondly to associate these profiles and characters to their business progress. A sample size of 21 respondents was drawn - selected from those who warmly welcomed the interviewers for an open-ended structured questionnaire. SPSS 24 has been employed to descriptively reveal the sample distribution according to demographic factors and business entities and to determine the dominant factors affecting the progress of the business by testing the hypothesis on the association of variables under study using specified statistical analytical tools, such as regression analysis, especially stepwise regression formula, between specified dependent variables and independent variables and /or between all variables. The stepwise regression analysis has enabled the researcher to determine which variables are the most important reflecting the personal characteristics theorized as "locus of control": self-efficacy, needs for achievement, personal traits, and barriers to business progress The analysis reveals that the progress of business does have an association and is dependent on the source of capital and education, needs for achievement and locus of control.

The Effect of Personal Characteristics, Loan Characteristics and Interest Rate Characteristics on the Delinquency Possibility (개인특성·대출특성·금리특성이 연체가능성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of personal characteristics, loan characteristics, and interest rate characteristics of 2,653 borrowers on the delinquency possibility. In doing so, this study applies both multiple regression and logistic regression models to the data of credit unions in the city of Daegu. Design/Methodology/Approach - The major results of multiple regression analysis using SPSS are as follows. Findings - As for the results of testing the significance of the regression coefficients, it has been found that among the personal characteristics variables membership, credit rating, credit rating changes, and LTV have significant positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. Also it has been shown that among the loan characteristics variables loan amount, loan balance, total debt amount, collateral type, collateral amount, and repayment method have significant positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. Furthermore it has been found that among the interest rate characteristics variables both overdue interest rate and interest rate spread have positive (+) effects on the delinquency possibility. However, it has been shown that among the personal characteristics variables equity and membership do not have significant effects on the delinquency possibility, and that normal interest rate among the interest rate characteristics variables also do not have a significant effect on the delinquency possibility. Research Implications - By systematically analyzing the variables affecting delinquency possibility based on the results of this study, credit unions might get positive help in improving the system of managing receivables. Furthermore, the results of this study could be extended and applied to other types of financial institutions, so that financial institutions in general will also get some help to systematically manage the delinquency possibility.

Anxiety, Depression, and Self-Esteem in Children with Cancer : The Influence of Personal Variables and Perception of Social Support (암환아의 개인적 변인과 사회적 지지 지각이 불안, 우울 및 자아존중감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the influences of personal variables and perception of social support on the anxiety, depression and self-esteem of 102 children with cancer living in Seoul. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results showed that personal variables that influenced depression, anxiety and self-esteem of children with cancer were sex, grade in school, monthly income of the family, and regularity of school attendance. Perception of social support influenced depression and self-esteem; subjects higher in perception of social support were lower in depression and higher in self-esteem.

An interpretable machine learning approach for forecasting personal heat strain considering the cumulative effect of heat exposure

  • Climate change has resulted in increased frequency and intensity of heat waves, which poses a significant threat to the health and safety of construction workers, particularly those engaged in labor-intensive and heat-stress vulnerable working environments. To address this challenge, this study aimed to propose an interpretable machine learning approach for forecasting personal heat strain by considering the cumulative effect of heat exposure as a situational variable, which has not been taken into account in the existing approach. As a result, the proposed model, which incorporated the cumulative working time along with environmental and personal variables, was found to have superior forecast performance and explanatory power. Specifically, the proposed Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model achieved a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.034 (℃) and an R-squared of 99.3% (0.933). Feature importance analysis revealed that the cumulative working time, as a situational variable, had the most significant impact on personal heat strain. These findings highlight the importance of systematic management of personal heat strain at construction sites by comprehensively considering the cumulative working time as a situational variable as well as environmental and personal variables. This study provided a valuable contribution to the construction industry by offering a reliable and accurate heat strain forecasting model, enhancing the health and safety of construction workers.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the state of science teaching anxiety of elementary teachers for the scientifically gifted according to their personal variables such as gender, career in education and gifted education, training course for gifted education, participation in meeting related to gifted education. The subjects in this study were 64 elementary school teachers who were in charge of science gifted education. The instrument to assess their science teaching anxiety was Westerback's S-STAI, modified in this study to be suitable for science gifted education. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS. The findings of the study were as follows: The teachers for gifted felt more teaching anxiety in gifted classes than in normal classes on the whole. There were statistically significant differences in their personal variables such as gender, career in education experience, experience of taking gifted education training courses, and participation in meeting related to gifted education. Implications related to reduce the gifted education teachers' teaching anxiety were discussed in depth.

A Study on the Intention to Provide Personal Information by Type of Big Data Services (빅데이터 서비스 유형에 따른 개인정보 제공 의도에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, big data services have been used in various fields. In this situation, this research studied the intention to provide personal information from users, which is necessary to provide useful big data services. A survey was conducted on college students and ordinary people who have understood big data services. And path analysis was performed through Amos' structural equation. As a result of the study, it was found that privacy risks, trust in service providers, individual innovativeness, service incentives, social influence, and service design are major variables influencing the intention to provide personal information. And it was found that trust in service providers plays a mediating role in influencing the intention to provide personal information. In addition, big data services were classified into types for information acquisition and types related to purchase. Accordingly, it was further analyzed whether major variables differ in the path affecting the intention to provide personal information, and new implications were found. Companies that actually develop and provide big data services should establish different strategies by reflecting research results depending on the type of big data service provided.

The Perception of Problem of Internet Usage and Willingness of Internet Education among Adolescents on Jeju Island (청소년의 인터넷 이용에 따른 문제점 인식과 인터넷교육 의사에 관한 연구 -제주지역을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of problem of internet usage and the willingness to receive internet education among adolescents on Jeju Island, who are core internet users, and the related variables. The survey was administered to 566 students from elementary and middle schools on Jeju. The data were analyzed by T-test, ANOVA analysis, DMR test and logistic regression analysis. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the adolescents perceived the conflict with family due to the problem of internet usage. Taken as a whole, the perception of a problem due to internet usage was low. Second, the internet-related variables were very important to the perception level of the problem in that there was a significant difference in all sub-spheres according to the internet usage time. Also, the personal-related variables such as gender, age, and personal expenses had a meaningful difference on the perception level of problem. Third, adolescents' willingness to receive internet education was considerably high. The personal-related variables such as gender and school record had a meaningful influence on the willingness of the internet education.
