  • From the scientific point of view, any regulation of the emissions of toxic air pollutants in general, and ETS or VOCs in particular, will inevitably be based on exposure levels and consequential health effects, data of this nature is still lacking for most of ETS and VOCs. In this context, the importance of personal monitoring measurements of ETS and VOCs in relation to risk assessment has been emphasized previously.(omitted)

  • The design of an intelligent toothbrush, capable of monitoring brushing motion, orientation through the grip axis, during toothbrushing is described. Inappropriate Toothbrushing styles, even in adults, sometimes cause dental problems, cavities, gingivitis, etc. This smart system provides user to monitor his or her brushing pattern using accelerometer and magnetic sensors for evaluation of toothbrushing style. Directional information of toothbrush with respect to earth's magnetic field and activity data were measured by a miniaturized low-power micro- controller, MSP430 and transmitted to personal computer by 2.4GHz radio transmitter, nRF2401. A personal computer provides an on-line display of activity and orientation measurements during toothbrushing. The signal trace is then analyzed to extract clinically relevant measurement. This preliminary study showed that the proposed monitoring system was conceived to aid dental care personnel in patient education and instruction in oral hygiene regarding brushing style.

  • A wireless 3 channel ECG monitoring system was developed so that it could monitor the health and movement state during subject's daily life. The developed system consists of a wireless biomedical signal acquisition device, a personal healthcare server, and a remote medical server. Three experiments were performed to evaluate the accuracy, reliability and operability, applicability during daily life of the developed device. First, ECG signals were measured using the developed device and commercial reference device during sitting and marking time and compared to verify the accuracy of R-R intervals. Second, the reliable data transmission to remote server was verified on two types of simulated emergency event using patient simulator. Third, during five types of motion in daily life, the accuracy of data transmission to remote server using CDMA network was verified on two types of event occurring. By acquiring and comparing subject's biomedical signal and motion signal, the accuracy, reliability and operability, applicability during daily life of the developed device were verified. In addition, PDA-phone based wireless system enabled subject to be monitored without any constraints. Therefore, the developed system is expected to be applicable for monitoring the aged and chronic diseased people and giving first-aid in emergency.

  • The developed system is captured by RS-232 telecommunication receiving data (temperature and humidity of each incubator) through radio frequency sensor network system and is made by monitoring system for one person collecting each channel data. This monitoring system is capable of monitoring not only PDA through TCP/IP telecommunication but also personal computer. This system is actively application on telecommunication function of LabVIEW and PDA module and is considerably saved in processing time than using in other tools.

  • Recently, intelligent predictive surveillance system has emerged. It is a system that can probabilistically predict the future situation and event based on the existing data beyond the scope of the current object or object motion and situation recognition. Since such intelligent predictive monitoring system has a high possibility of handling personal information, security consideration is essential for protecting personal information. The existing video surveillance framework has limitations in terms of privacy. In this paper, we proposed a security framework for intelligent predictive surveillance system. In the proposed method, detailed components for each unit are specified by dividing them into terminals, transmission, monitoring, and monitoring layers. In particular, it supports active personal information protection in the video surveillance process by supporting detailed access control and de-identification.

  • This paper focused on the new theory and algorithm improving the citizen's safety which they experience to change from the developing country to the developed country, and analyzed the gained and applicate results, and show the theories and application's evidence for the incident prevention of citizen's life and house. The Safety Monitoring Theory for human security, show the six theories for which they are analyzed and reduced the accident's death, as is the priority of the disaster prevention activity, its decision, continuous minimization of the accident's death number, the environment security, the personal security, the community security. This study is applied to educate and exercise the disaster prevention and safety management's program which applied the seven step's model of the safety monitoring, show on continuously improvement effects through the case study of the personal's and team's monitoring during five years.

  • In Welfare Center for the disabled, under the Government's information acceleration plan, the computer system has been developed starting from work standardization in 2001 but it has been emphasized only on the technical and customer convenience side leaving out preparation for the side effects of them. Therefore this article will seek the necessity of personal information protection, legal basis in the Welfare Center for the disabled. Additionally after analyzing current status for the personal security of Welfare Center for the disabled, establishing an alternative plan for personal security policy's way could be addressed. Increasing education for awareness stress of personal information security, and preparing institutional protection apparatus from applying life cycle of personal information would be an alternative plan for personal information protection for Welfare Center for the disabled. Also frequent monitoring of accessing personal information from the computerized system should be achieved. It is impossible to recover damage caused by leak of personal information although post actions are progressed. From this essay, awareness of personal information protection should be newly revised for both the Social Welfare Organization and the Disabled welfare center, and also technical, institutional strategy's action should be arranged.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation relationship between personal exposure and urinary hippuric acid in biological monitoring for airborne toluene in an industrial complex and in general environments. Methods: Personal exposure to toluene and its metabolite, hippuric acid, in urine were simultaneously measured in occupational environments area near an industrial complex and in general environments. The study subjects were divided into three types: 137 workers who use organic solvents in the workplace, 210 residents living near a dyeing industrial complex, and 379 residents living in general environments. The toluene exposures of workers and residents were measured by a passive sampler for four days. The urine of participants was sampled when the passive samplers of personal exposure were collected. Results: The toluene and hippuric acid concentrations of workers were the highest, followed by the concentrations of residents living near a dyeing industrial complex and residents living in general environments. The coefficient of correlation between the concentrations of toluene and hippuric acid among workers was 0.749 (p<0.01) in the workplace. On the contrary, correlations between the concentrations of toluene and hippuric acid among residents living near a dyeing industrial complex and residents living in general environments were all not significant. The relationship between the concentrations of hippuric acid and toluene in three types could be described by the exponential growth model. Conclusions: This study analyzed the relationships between toluene exposure and the concentrations of hippuric acid in urine in high, middle, and low exposure environments, and could be described by the exponential growth model.
