An Empirical Study on the Relationship between Role Stress and Personal Creativity: The Mediating Roles of Creative Self-Efficacy and Personal Initiative (역할스트레스와 개인 창의성 간의 관계에 대한 실증연구: 창의적 자아효능감과 자기주도성의 매개역할)

  • Personal creativity is critically important for organizations seeking to survive and thrive in today's highly turbulent business environments. Organizations must effectively identify and mobilize the creative resources of their members. When organizational members perceive a work environment that restricts or fails to encourage individual creative expression, a gap may exist between the level of individual creative potential and the actual amount of individual creativity practiced within the organization. In this situation, this paper will examine the impact of role conflict, role ambiguity, creative self-efficacy, and personal initiative on personal creativity. Creative self-efficacy is the subjective belief in one's personal ability to be creative, that is, a personal assessment of one's own creative potential. A strong internal belief in one's ability to successfully engage in creative behaviors is generally considered an important part of the creative process. Personal Initiative refers to behaviors, mainly directed toward work and organizational issues, that are characterized by the following aspects: self-starting, proactive, and persistent in overcoming barriers. Creativity-related creative self-efficacy and personal initiative are critical components to understand motivation that coordinates the relationship between perception and behavior of individual employees. Based on role theory, researchers have focused on role conflict and role ambiguity as the two key ingredients of role stress. Role ambiguity is defined as an evaluation about the lack of salient information needed to perform a role effectively. Role conflict results from two or more sets of incompatible demands involving work-related issues. Employees are usually pursued work-roles more than one in work-focused organization. Too many work-roles and perceived uncertainties at employee's work can be obstacles to personal creativity. In an analysis of results, while role conflict is not negatively related significantly to creative self-efficacy, role ambiguity is negatively related significantly to creative self-efficacy. While role conflict is significantly related to personal creativity, role ambiguity is negatively related significantly to personal creativity. Creative self-efficacy mediates the relationship among role conflict, role ambiguity, and employee creativity. Personal initiative mediates the relationship between creative self-efficacy and employee creativity. This paper shows that creative self-efficacy and personal initiative are the driving force behind personal creativity. Organizations can get some implications of creative-related role conflict and role ambiguity that employees have experienced. As a result, organizations must not only encourage creativity of employees by greater involvement but also encourage their input towards their-focused own works and tasks. And employees should be developed to pace with the organizational needs and development. Management must enable employees to think of new ideas and practices that promotes personal creativity.

Effect of Prospective Entrepreneur's Emotional Intelligence on Entrepreneurship: Mediating Effect of Personal Creativity (예비 창업자의 정서지능이 기업가정신에 미치는 영향: 개인창의성 매개 효과)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study analyzes the effect of emotional intelligence on entrepreneurship mediated by personal creativity, and an effective. Design/methodology/approach - A questionnaire was administered to approximately 141 students. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS statistical package. Findings - First, emotional intelligence had a positive effect on personal creativity. Second, Personal creativity was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship. Specifically, personal creativity mediated the relationship between emotional expression intelligence and entrepreneurship, but did not mediate the relationship between entrepreneurship and the facilitation of cognitive intelligence. Lastly, prospective entrepreneur's emotional intelligence is seen to have a positive effect on entrepreneurship, and personal creativity plays a role in mediating between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship. Therefore, supplementary measures are needed to place more importance on emotional intelligence in entrepreneurship education related to starting a business, which had not been appropriately addressed until now. Research implications or Originality - The implications of this study are that policies are needed to develop entrepreneurship skills in those who are interested in starting a business, and that follow-up studies on entrepreneurship are needed.

  • This study examined the relationship among early childhood educator's MBTI personal tendencies, creativity, and teaching efficacy. 120 kindergarten teachers and 155 day care teachers participated in this study. Several survey questionnaires were used for this study, such as, teaching efficacy scale, MBTI personality tendencies, and a creativity test. The collected data was analyzed with the SPSS program(version 18.0). The findings of this study were as follows: First, there were some differences between an early childhood educator's MBTI personal tendencies and creativity. Secondly, there was a positive correlation among early childhood educator's MBTI personal tendencies, creativity, and teaching efficacy.

A Study on the effect of personal characteristics on incremental innovation (개인적 특성이 점진적 혁신에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between personal factors(creativity, outwarding, entrepreneurship) and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of tenure in the domestic service enterprises. Based on the responses from 306 employees, the results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that all personal factors except creativity have positive relationships with incremental innovation factors. The results of moderating analysis showed that entrepreneurship have more positive effects on all incremental innovation factors while respondents' tenure being shorter.

  • Purpose - First, empirical research will reveal how personal creativity affects the knowledge sharing and innovation behaviors of organizational members. Second, self-management competency will be verified to explain the causal relationship between independent and dependent variables as a mediating variable and to reduce the time interval. Research design, data, and methodology - There are two major research models. First, personal creativity (professionalism, emotional intelligence, internal motivation) has a positive impact on knowledge sharing (creation of knowledge, organization of knowledge, use of knowledge) and innovation behavior (deriving ideas, implementing ideas, promoting ideas). Second, self-management competency (intellectual capacity, emotional capacity, personality capacity) plays a mediating role. In addition to descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, Cronbach's α was calculated for 259 workers in the retail industry. In addition, confirmatory factor analysis was performed using the AMOS 24.0 program, and the influence on the measurement model was analyzed to verify the structural equation model. Results - First, personal creativity had a positive effect on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior. In other words, it was confirmed that the decision-making process accompanied by individual creativity can create an atmosphere of knowledge sharing and continue to innovate. Second, personal creativity had a positive effect on self-management competency, and self-management competency had a positive effect on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior. Third, self-management competency was found to partially mediate the influence of personal creativity on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior. Conclusions - First, it is important for managers to recognize the value of creative talents who can be a fundamental source of organizational success and competitive advantage, and to attract talented people. Second, managers should be able to develop decision-making processes to develop potential creativity and encourage creative ideas, opinions, or solutions when organizing the work environment of their members. Third, managers should promote the sharing and integration of new knowledge that underlies the creative views and attitudes of teams and organizational members. Unlike previous studies, which emphasize the role of the work environment in which creative behaviors are promoted, this study shows that creativity of individual members, itself, is an important determinant of knowledge sharing and innovation behavior.

Mediating Effects of Intrinsic Motivation on The Relationship Between Positive Psychological Capital, Psychological Empowerment and Creativity (긍정심리자본, 심리적 임파워먼트와 창의성의 관계에서 내재적 동기의 매개효과 검증)

  • This study examined the relationship among PsyCap(positive psychological capital), psychological empowerment, personal creativity and verified the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation in this relationship using the SEM(Structural Equation Model). For this study, the data was collected through on/off-line surveys of members and managers from 12 different enterprises. Among the 418 answers from voluntary participating employees, 332 answers were finally used for statistical analysis. The results were as follows. First, PsyCap had a positive influence on the intrinsic motivation and personal creativity. Second, Psychological Empowerment had a positive influence on intrinsic motivation, but psychological empowerment has no influence on creativity. Third, intrinsic motivation had a meaningful influence by partially mediating PsyCap and personal creativity but completely mediated psychological empowerment and personal creativity. This study focused on intrinsic motivation among the internal factors that have influences on showing personal creativity and has importance in the point that it has suggested the statistical significance by analyzing the psychological/emotional mechanism to reinforce this intrinsic motivation in a positive way. Positive analysis on the relationships among these variables suggests a theoretical meaning on providing a future direction for the study and practical meaning on providing ideas to reinforce the employees' personal creativity.   • Creativity is a trait necessarily demanded in highly industrial and information oriented society. Accordingly, we should develop creativity through school education. The purpose of this study is to inquire a conceptual model and teaching method for developing creative problem solving skills in home economics education which can work at a platform for the curriculum developer. Although many definitions of creativity consider cognitive aspect more, personal or affective aspect is heavily involved with creativity. Therefore, creativity is a dynamic system which cooperates many contrasting and dialectic components in personal and cognitive aspects. The function of creativity is dependent on diverse environmental system. Environments influence on the extent of the development of creativity. Thus, the person-situation interaction model devised by Woodman and Schoenfeldt, integration of cognitive, affective, and situational aspects, is suggested as a conceptual model for teaching creativity in home economics education. The practical reasoning teaching model is suggested as a teaching method for developing creative problem solving skills in home economics education. The components of creative problem solving which involved with practical reasoning process are general knowledge and skills, specific knowledge and skills, divergent thinking skills, motivation and motives, and critical thinking skills.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide a review of the background information regarding to the impact of personal control over the physical work environment on satisfaction with work environment and creativity at work. Today creativity has a significant and special place in business especially in innovative organizations which need creative people to generate new, and useful ideas for produce new products, services, work methods, systems etc. Moreover the design and appearance of workspace and individual ability to control the ambient conditions of the workplace have significant effect on their behavior, satisfaction and overall outcome including creativity. So the result of this study will contribute towards enhancing the understanding of the effect of office design to enhance employees' creativity.

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between personal factors(creativity, outwarding, entrepreneurship) and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of tenure in the domestic service enterprises. Based on the responses from 213 employees, the results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that almost personal factors have positive relationships with incremental innovation factors. The results of moderating analysis showed that entrepreneurship have negative effects on all incremental innovation factors in interacting with tenure.
