  • The goal of this study is to identify factors that influence on the persistent information security compliance intention of employees. Antecedents suggested in research model are security awareness training and perceived effectiveness of information security policy. Research results show that security awareness training has a positive effect on persistent information security compliance intention as well as effectiveness of information security policy. While policy breadth, which is one of the effectiveness of information security policy, influences on persistent information security compliance attitude and intention, policy brevity does not effect on persistent information security compliance intention. Conclusions and implications are discussed.

  • There are only few cases where cause and location of failure of a rock structure are limited to a single discontinuity. Usually several discontinuities of limited size interact and eventually form a combined shear plane where failure takes place. So, besides the discontinuities, the regions between adjacent discontinuities, which consist of strong rock and are called material or rock bridges, are of utmost importance for the shear strength of the compound failure plane. Shear behaviour of persistent and non-persistent joint are different from each other. Shear strength of rock mass containing non-persistent joints is highly affected by mechanical behavior and geometrical configuration of non-persistent joints located in a rock mass. Therefore investigation is essential to study the fundamental failures occurring in a rock bridge, for assessing anticipated and actual performances of the structures built on or in rock masses. The purpose of this review paper is to present techniques, progresses and the likely future development directions in experimental testing of non-persistent joint failure behaviour. Experimental results showed that the presence of rock bridges in not fully persistent natural discontinuity sets is a significant factor affecting the stability of rock structures. Compared with intact rocks, jointed rock masses are usually weaker, more deformable and highly anisotropic, depending upon the mechanical properties of each joint and the explicit joint positions. The joint spacing, joint persistency, number of rock joint, angle of rock joint, length of rock bridge, angle of rock bridge, normal load, scale effect and material mixture have important effect on the failure mechanism of a rock bridge.

  • The major purpose of this thesis is suggest the simulation algorithm for performance analysis of throughput of slotted 1-persistent CSMA/CD bus protocol in Local Area Networks. The suggested simulation algorithm processes the effect of each station group that classified by the number of collision experience. Therefore, this simulation algorithm is more effective in terms of the execute than existing algorithm that processed the effect of each station. This study suggests the method for application to the busy/idle generator.

  • 1. Objectives Hiccup is one of common symptoms clinically and caused by various etiologies. Persistent hiccup is defined as hiccup lasting more than 48 hours. We have tried researching effect of herbal medicines(Dokhwaljihwang-tang, Yangkyuksanhwa-tang). 2. Methods To heal the persistent hiccup, we used Dokhwaljihwang-tang and Yangkyuksanhwa-tang. 3. Results A Soyangin patient diagnosed to have persistent hiccup was, treated with Soyangin herbal medicines (Dokhwaljihwang-tang and Yangkyuksanhwa-tang), and change of his symptom & general condition was managed. 4. Conclusions The constitutional treatment with Soyangin herbal medicines(Dokhwaljihwang-tang, Yangkyuksanhwa-tang) may have an effect on management of persistent hiccup. Further study on management of this disease is needed.

  • Purpose: This study aimed at identifying factors related to persistent postoperative pain after cardiac surgery and estimating their effect sizes. Methods: The literature search and selection was conducted in four different databases (CINAHL, Cochrane Library, PubMed, and PQDT) using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Statement. A total of 14 studies met the inclusion criteria and were systematically reviewed. For the meta-analysis, R was used to analyze 30 effect sizes of for both individual and operative factors as well as publication biases from a total of nine studies. Results: The meta-analysis revealed that persistent postoperative pain after cardiac surgery was related to one individual factor (gender) and two operative factors (acute postoperative pain and use of the internal mammary artery). Operative factors (OR=5.26) had a larger effect size than individual factors (OR=1.53). Conclusion: Female gender, acute pain after surgery, and use of the internal mammary artery are related factors to persistent postoperative pain. The development of interventions focusing on modifiable related factors, such as acute postoperative pain, may help to minimize or prevent PPP after cardiac surgery.

  • Persistent hiccup is defined as duration lasting longer than 48 hours. Reflex arc of hiccup is divided into three parts : afferent, central, efferent. Afferent portion of the neural pathway of hiccup formation is composed of vagus nerve, phrenic nerve, and sympathetic chain arising from T6 to T12. Efferent limb is phrenic nerve. Hiccup center is located in brain stem, midbrain, reticular system and hypothalamus. Persistent hiccup is very difficult to treat by conventional methods. We performed cervical epidural block of the phrenic nerve root for three patients suffering from persistent hiccup. The therapeutic effect was perfect. The mechanism of the cervical epidural block is not yet defined however it is thought to block the efferent nerve fibers and suppress the reflex arc of hiccup. We conclude cervical epidural block is relatively safe and very effective for treating persistent hiccup.

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome can be produced by abnormal mass effect due to trauma, ganglion cysts, various soft tissue tumors, musculotendinous variants, and aberrant vascular structures. Persistent median artery is one of the causes of the carpal tunnel syndrome. Thrombosed persistent median artery usually accompanies the anomaly of the median nerve and causes a sudden onset of severe pain and paresthesia. In contrast to previous literature, we report the rare case of gradual onset and mild symptom of a 53-year-old man with a thrombosed persistent median artery but without anomaly of the median nerve and abnormal finding of electrophysiologic study.

  • In this paper an approach was described for determination of direction of sliding block in rock slopes containing planar non-persistent open joints. For this study, several gypsum blocks containing planar non-persistent open joints with dimensions of $15{\times}15{\times}15cm$ were build. The rock bridges occupy 45, 90 and $135cm^2$ of total shear surface ($225cm^2$), and their configuration in shear plane were different. From each model, two similar blocks were prepared and were subjected to shearing under normal stresses of 3.33 and $7.77kg/cm^{-2}$. Based on the change in the configuration of rock-bridges, a factor called the Effective Joint Coefficient (EJC) was formulated, that is the ratio of the effective joint surface that is in front of the rock-bridge and the total shear surface. In general, the failure pattern is influenced by the EJC while shear strength is closely related to the failure pattern. It is observed that the propagation of wing tensile cracks or shear cracks depends on the EJC and the coalescence of wing cracks or shear cracks dominates the eventual failure pattern and determines the peak shear load of the rock specimens. So the EJC is a key factor to determine the sliding direction in rock slopes containing planar non-persistent open joints.

  • The purpose of this study is to approach information security from a more comprehensive perspective. Particularly, information countermeasures includes a technological tool for end users, thereby increasing the end users' technological stresses. Based on the technostress framework, we investigate a effect of security awareness training on technostress, and also examine a effect of technostress on the persistent security compliance. Results showed that security awareness training influenced on techno-overload and techno-uncertainty. We also found that techno-overload and techno-uncertainty have a significant effect on the persistent security compliance. Conclusion and implications are discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to research the effect of a reflection journal on self motivated-learners' study. The learners were divided into experimental and control groups, we carried out the pre- and post- surveys, and compared the groups' academic achievements. As a result, their persistent learning, self-efficacy, learning attitude somewhat improved and their academic achievement as well.
