Ketoprofen is one of the propionic acid class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic and antipyretic effects. The most common side effects from ketoprofen after oral administration are gastrointestinal irritation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and retention of fluid. Ketoprofen was formulated as water-soluble gels to reduce these side effects. To increase the skin permeability of ketoprofen, microsphere containing ketoprofen was prepared with chitosan and ploy-$\varepsilon$-caprolactone. And then prepared microsphere was manufactured as an adhesive hydrogel with polyvinylpyrrolidone K-25, polyethylene glycol 4000, and various permeation enhancers. The flux and permeability of ketoprofen were evaluated. As the concentration of tween 80 and enhancers increased, the flux of ketroprofen was accelerated. Also the permeation rate was facilitated by enhancers, but did not affect the lag time. From these results, the adhesive hydrogel using microsphere could be a good delivery system for ketoprofen to improve the skin permeation.

It is well known that proper encapsulation is crucial for the lifetime of organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays. With the development of increasingly better barrier coatings and perimeter seals, it has now become very desirable to be able to precisely measure the rate of water vapor and oxygen permeation through barrier coatings and perimeter sealing. This paper demonstrates a new permeation measurement method that uses tritium-containing water (HTO) as a tracer material. The theoretical detection limit of this direct method is $2.4{\times}10^{-8}g/(m^2day)$.
Nanofiltration of aqueous dye solutions was carried out using polyamide (PA) nanofiltration (NF) composite membranes. The PA composite membranes were prepared by the interfacial polymerization of piperazine (PIP) and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) on the surface of microporous polysulfone (PSf) ultrafi1tration (UF) membranes. After characterization in terms of their permeation performance and surface ionic property, they were used for the separation of dye solutions such as Direct Red 75, 80, 81, and Direct Yellow 8 and 27. The separation conditions were varied to study the factors affecting on the permeation performance of the membranes: different concentrations of dye solutions, operating temperature and time, and flow rate of a feed solution. The surface property of the membrane, especially its ionic property, as a function of operating time was examined with a zeta-potentiometer and the relationship between the surface chemistry of the membrane and its permeation properties was also studied.

To improve the skin permeability of piroxicam, a new oil-in-water microemulsion containing $0.5\%$ piroxicam was developed. Among various oils investigated for their suitability as an oil phase for the microemulsion system, oleic acid showed both excellent solubility and skin permeation enhancing effect for piroxicam. Microemulsion existence ranges were identified through the construction of the pseudo-ternary phase diagram. The effect of the content of oleic acid and the ratio of the surfactant/cosurfactant on skin permeation of piroxicam were evaluated with excised rat skins. The optimum formulation with the highest skin permeation rate ($47.14\;{\mu}g/cm^2/h$) consisted of $0.5\%$ piroxicam, $10\%$ oleic acid, $60\%$ Labrasol/ethanol (1:5) and water.

For the purpose to treatment of skin disease genipoiside and hydrolyzed product of Gardeniae Fructus were studied on skin permeation and crosslinking of a biologied tissue. Geniposide was hydrolyzed to genipin by ${\beta}$-glucosidase and the rate of hydrolysis was rapid on the condition of high temperature of medium and high concentration of ${\beta}$-glucosidase. The permeation enhancing effects of geniposide and genipin under cream and gel preparations were tested using Franz type diffusion cell and the skin of hairless mouse. (omitted)
Recently, the most promising methods for high purity hydrogen production are membranes separation such as polymer, metal, ceramic and composites. It is well known that Pd and Pd-alloys membranes have excellent properties for hydrogen separation. However, it has hydrogen embrittlement and high cost for practical applications. Therefore, most scientists have studied new materials instead of Pd and Pd-alloys. On the other hand, TiN powders are great in resistance to acids and chemically stable under high operating temperature. In order to get specimens for hydrogen permeation, the TiN powders synthesized were consolidated together with Co, Ni powders by hot press sintering (HPS). During the consolidation of powders at HPS, heating rate was 10 K/min and the pressure was 10 MPa. It was characterized by XRD, SEM. Also, we estimated the hydrogen permeability by Sievert's type hydrogen permeation membrane equipment.
The effects of different formulation variables including pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), permeation enhancer, thickness of the matrix and loading amount of drug on the transdermal absorption of galantamine were investigated across the hairless mouse skin. The permeation profile of galantamine was different depending on the types of PSA, loading amount of drug, thickness of the matrix and type of enhancer used. Highest flux of galantamine was obtained from acrylic PSA but crystals were formed in the patch within 72 h. Among the PSAs screened, crystal formation was not observed only in the patches formulated in Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) matrix. Permeation rate increased linearly as the concentration of galantamine in SBS matrix increased from 2.5 to 15% w/w. Among the enhancers screened, Brij$^{(R)}$ 30 provided highest flux of galantamine. Matrix thickness of 80 ${\mu}m$ was optimum for maintaining adhesiveness as well as consistently delivering galantamine for longer period of time.
To develop a novel transdermal delivery system of loxoprofen (LP), a potent antiinflammatory and analgesic agent, the effects of vehicle composition and drug loading dose on the skin permeation property were investigated. And in vivo skin absorption property studied by analysing the $C_{max}$ and AUC was investigated after applying the developed plaster systems on rabbit back skin. Addition of isopropyl myristate (IPM) and IPM-diethylene glycol monoethyl ether (DGME) cosolvent in the plaster showed higher permeation rates than those from propylene glycol laurate-DGME cosolvent systems. As the concentration of LP in the plaster increased from 0.56 mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 1.19 mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the drug release and skin permeation rates increased linearly. At loading dose of 1.19 mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the flux reached 35.6 $\mu$g/$\textrm{cm}^2$/hr. New LP plasters showed a good adhesive property onto skin, and showed no crystal formation. The AU $C_{0-24hr}$ and $C_{max}$ after dermal application of LP plaster (60 mg/70 $\textrm{cm}^2$) were found to be 6951$\pm$230 ng.hr/ml and 400$\pm$44 ng/ml, respectively. And the plasma concentration maintained above 300 ng/ml up to 24 hr period. In the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema test, LP plaster showed similar inhibition rate with marketed ketoprofen (Ketoto $p^{R}$) plaster.aster.r.

The gas permeation properties have been studied on carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes prepared by pyrolysis of P84 polyimide under various conditions. P84 polyimide shows high permselectivities (O$_2$/N$_2$= 9.17 and CO$_2$/N$_2$= 35) for various gas pairs and has a good processibility because it is easily soluble in high polar solvents such as N-methylpyrrolidinone (NMP), dimethylformamide (DMF), and N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). After pyrolysis under Ar flow, the change in the heating rate was found to affect the gas permeation properties to some extent. The permeabilities of the selected gases were shown to be in the order He > CO$_2$> O$_2$> N$_2$for all the CMS membranes, whose order was in accordance with the order of kinetic gas diameters. It also revealed that the pyrolysis temperature considerably influenced the gas permeation properties of the CMS membranes derived from P84 polyimide. The CMS membranes pyrolized at 700$\^{C}$ temperature exhibited the highest permeability with relatively targe loss in permselectivity. This means that the pyrolysis temperature should be varied in accordance with target gases to be separated.
In this study, we have investigated to find optimal pre-treatment flocculation condition by analyzing the floc growth rate with mixing conditions and the membrane permeation flux for pre-treatment step of the membrane process. The higher mixing intensity showed a constant floc size index (FSI) values, and lower mixing intensity increased the degree of dispersion of the FSI values. Results of comparing the distribution characteristics of the FSI value and the permeation flux were more effective in increasing flux when the FSI values were 0.2 or higher. The degree of dispersion of FSI was relatively large in 40 rpm mixing condition compared to 120 rpm. In 40 rpm mixing condition, it decreased the permeation flux compared to 120 rpm because various sizes of flocs were distributed. Coagulation-UF membrane process enhanced 30%~40% of the flux rate compare to UF alone process, and the coagulation-MF process increased up to 5% of the flux rate compare to MF alone process. Pre-treatment, that is, coagulation process, has been found to be less effects on relatively larger pore size for MF membrane. For UF membrane, the flux was a little bit same when applying only the rapid mixing process or rapid mixing with slow mixing processes together. In case of MF membrane, the flux was improved when rapid mixing process applied with slow mixing process together.
