Effect of the Permeability of Excavation Wall on the Earth Pressure in a Jointed Rock Mass

  • The magnitude and distribution of earth pressure on the excavation wall in jointed rock mass were examined by considering different wall permeability conditions as well as rock types and joint inclination angles. The study was numerically extended based on a physical model test (Son & Park, 2014), considering rock-structure interactions with the discrete element method, which can consider various characteristics of rock joints. This study focused on the effect of the permeability condition of excavation wall on the earth pressure in jointed rock masses under a groundwater condition, which is important but has not been studied previously. The study results showed that the earth pressure was highly influenced by wall permeability as well as rock type and joint condition. Earth pressure resulted from the study was also compared with Peck's earth pressure in soil ground, and the comparison clearly showed that the earth pressure in jointed rock mass can be greatly different from that in soil ground.

  • 2축 Helmholtz 코일을 이용해서 연자성박막의 이방성 분산을 측정할 수 있는 장치를 제작하여 TBP(Transverse Biased Permeability) 측정 방법으로 rf 스파터방법으로 제작한 퍼말로이박막의 이방성 불균일성을 측정하였다. 각도불균일분포함수의 경우 Lorentz 함수형태를 띄며, 크기불균일 분포함수의 경우 자장이 큰 영역에서의 분산 값이 커져 대칭분포에서 벗어난다. 퍼말로이 박막의 두께가 증가할수록 이방성의 각도 및 크기분산이 커지고 각도 분산의 경우 이것은 두께 증가에 따른 결정립 크기의 증대와 국소이방성의 증가로 설명할 수 있었다.

Permeability-increasing effects of hydraulic flushing based on flow-solid coupling

  • Shallow coal resources are increasingly depleted, the mining has entered the deep stage. Due to "High stress, high gas, strong adsorption and low permeability" of coal seam, the gas drainage has become more difficult and the probability of coal and gas outburst accident increases. Based on the flow solid coupling theory of coal seam gas, the coupling model about stress and gas seepage of coal seam was set up by solid module and Darcy module in Comsol Multiphysics. The gas extraction effects were researched after applying hydraulic technology to increase permeability. The results showed that the effective influence radius increases with the expanded borehole radius and drainage time, decreases with initial gas pressure. The relationship between the effective influence radius and various factors presents in the form: $y=a+{\frac{b}{\left(1+{(\frac{x}{x_0})^p}\right)}}$. The effective influence radius with multiple boreholes is obviously larger than that of the single hole. According to the actual coal seam and gas geological conditions, appropriate layout way was selected to achieve the best effect. The field application results are consistent with the simulation results. It is found that the horizontal stress plays a very important role in coal seam drainage effect. The stress distribution change around the drilling hole will lead to the changes in porosity of coal seam, further resulting in permeability evolution and finally gas pressure distribution varies.

  • This study was carried out to track the heated-air flows within the tree disk through measuring the distribution of wood temperatures during explosing the 7.5mm-thick Japanese cedar disk and to investigate the effects of the time for the first explosion cycle and the number of explosion cycles on the improvement of permeability of tree disk. If the tree disk are explosed when the temperatures of the shell and core of it are not equilibrium yet, all of the inflated airs in the shell after explosion don't flow out toward the autoclave and some of them flow into the core of which the air pressures are lower than those of the shell. It is very effective for the improvement of permeability of tree disk to make the first explosion cycle when the temperatures of the shell and the core equilibrate at the setting temperature of steam in the autoclave. The more tree disks were explosed under the same conditions of first explosion, the more their permeabilities were improved.

재료품 품질의 변동이 필터 공기희석율 변동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Cigarette Component Variability on Filter Ventilation Variability by Monte Carlo Analysis.)

  • The variability of a ventilated filter cigarette depends on the details of its construction and on the variabilities of its components. Variations in filter ventilation arise from many sources, including variations in tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. To reduce the filter ventilation variability, the variability of filter ventilation levels in ventilated cigarettes is studied by Monte Carlo Analysis. For each trials a value is selected for tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. These values are selected randomly from a normal distribution based on the target and coefficient of variation for each input variable. The results of this analysis for filter ventilation variation suggest that the variations of filter ventilation are dependent on the details of cigarette designs studied and reducing the variability of any cigarette component will reduce filter ventilation variability. For typical cigarettes, variation in the permeability of tipping paper is usually the most significant contributor to filter ventilation variability. Results of a Monte Carlo Analysis could provide both general insights and specific practical guidance about the design of ventilated filter cigarettes.

Permeability Measurement of a Circular Braided Preform for Resin Transfer Molding

  • Permeability of the preform is one of key factors in design of RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) mold, determination of processing conditions, and modeling of flow in the mold. According to previous studies, permeability measured in the unsaturated fiber mats are higher than that in the saturated fiber mats by about 20% because of the capillary pressure. In this study, permeabilities of several fiber preforms are measured for both saturated and unsaturated flows. A saturated experiment of radial flow has been adopted to measure the permeability of anisotropic fiber preforms with high fiber content, i.e., circular braided preforms. In this method, four pressure transducers are used to measure the pressure distribution. Permeabilities in different directions are determined and the experimental results show a good agreement with the theory. Since permeability is affected by the capillary effect, permeability should be measured in the unsaturated condition for the textile composites to be manufactured under lower pressure as in the Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM).

폴리에테르술폰 정밀여과막의 제조 및 특성 연구 (Preparation and Characteristics of Polyethersulfone Microfiltration Membranes)

  • 본 연구에서는 p-toluenesulfonic acid (TSA)와 polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)를 함유한 polyethersulfone (PES) 고분자 용액을 이용하여 PES 멤브레인 내에 최소 공경을 갖는 내부 분리층을 만드는 방법에 관한 새로운 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 팽윤제로 사용된 PVP와 응고제로 사용된 TSA를 함유한 평막형 PES 멤브레인의 제조 및 구조적인 특성 조사가 수행되었으며, 상업용 막에 대등할 만한 투과 성능과 좁은 pore size distribution을 가지는 멤브레인을 제조할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 PVP의 첨가는 멤브레인의 단면구조와 투과 성능에, TSA는 투과 성능보다는 pore size distribution에 영향을 준다는 것을 확인하였으며 이는 FE-SEM 결과와 TSA를 첨가한 멤브레인의 단면 사진에서 내부 최소 기공층의 두께가 두꺼워짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

Dynamic evolution characteristics of water inrush during tunneling through fault fracture zone

  • In this paper, a unified time-dependent constitutive model of Darcy flow and non-Darcy flow is proposed. The influencing factors of flow velocity are discussed, which demonstrates that permeability coefficient is the most significant factor. Based on this, the dynamic evolution characteristics of water inrush during tunneling through fault fracture zone is analyzed under the constant permeability coefficient condition (CPCC). It indicates that the curves of flow velocity and hydrostatic pressure can be divided into typical three stages: approximate high-velocity zone inside the fault fracture zone, velocity-rising zone near the tunnel excavation face and attenuation-low velocity zone in the tunnel. Furthermore, given the variation of permeability coefficient of the fault fracture zone with depth and time, the dynamic evolution of water flow in the fault fracture zone under the variable permeability coefficient condition (VPCC) is also studied. The results show that the time-related factor (α) affects the dynamic evolution distribution of flow velocity with time, the depth-related factor (A) is the key factor to the dynamic evolution of hydrostatic pressure.

보조기층재의 입도에 따른 물리적 특성 및 동상 특성 (Physical Properties and Characteristics of Freezing of the Sub-base Materials with a Grain Size Distribution)

  • In this paper it was analyzed that the mechanical properties, the permeability and the freezing properties of SB-2 materials which are mainly used with the subbase materials. To this ends, a series of the physical test, the permeability test and the freezing test were carried out the samples mixed the small aggregate and the big aggregate from which was re-classified the SB-2. From the test results, it was analyzed the characteristics of permeability and the characteristics of freezing of the samples. And it was reviewed for SB-2 materials that the use of possibility for the freezing prevention layer material.

  • 암석에서의 풍화 및 투수성은 방사성폐기물 지하동굴처분 및 암반구조물의 안정성 확보 및 장기적 관리측면에서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 이들 암석의 풍화 및 투수성은 암석의 내 구조 특성에 따라 크게 영향을 받는다. 즉 암석 내부의 공극, 미소 크랙 등의 양적 정도에 의해 풍화가 빨리 진행되기도 한다. 또한 암석 내부구조의 양적 평가는 그 암석의 풍화 정도를 정량적으로 평가할 수 있는 수단이 되기도 한다. 따라서 암석의 내부구조를 3치원적으로 정확하게 파악한다는 것은 암반구조물의 장기적 관리 측면에서 매우 중요하다고 하겠다. 이 연구는 국내 신선한 화강암과 풍화된 화강암을 대상으로 X선 CT촬영을 실시하여 3차원으로 공극의 분포를 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 암석 내부의 공극의 분포와 공극률을 잘 표현하고 있다.
