This paper investigates some strategies to overcome the chattering problem of the conventional sliding mode observer (SMO) and to improve the rotor position estimation performance for full range sensorless control of a PMSM. An adaptive observer gain based on the Lyapunov's stability criterion and a cascade low pass filter with advanced phase delay compensation were proposed to reduce the chattering problem and to strengthen the filtering capability of the SMO. Several cases studies through experiments were carried out to confirm conventional SMO's problems and effectiveness of the proposed strategies. The experimental results show that the proposed method gives precise estimation on speed and rotor position when the motor rotates on 2% of its rated speed.
The continuous sliding mode controller with disturbance observer for the tracking control of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is presented. In spite of the robust performance of variable structure control, there exists an undesirable chattering problem, which may be very harmful in some cases. To alleviate the problem, continuous sliding mode controller with continuous saturation function is proposed and also the prescribed performance can be obtained by efficient compensation of disturbance. Experimental results using 7.5 kW, 4000 rpm motor which is controlled by TMS320C30 DSP, are shown to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.
This study presents a solution to control a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor without sensors. The control method is the presented superposition principle. This method of sensorless theory is very simple to compute estimated angle. Therefore computing time to estimate angle is shorter than other sensorless method. The use of this system yields enhanced operations, fewer system components, lower system cost, energy efficient control system design and increased efficiency. A practical solution is described and results are given in this Study. The performance of a Sensorless architecture allows an intelligent approach to reduce the complete system costs of digital motion control applications using cheaper electrical motors without sensors. This paper deals with an overview of sensorless solutions in PMSM control applications whereby the focus will be the new Controller without sensors and its applications.

This paper presents a novel hall sensor fault detection and fault-tolerant control method for a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system. A phase locked loop (PLL) type position estimator is used with a conventional interpolation based rotor position estimator to reduce position errors due to misalignment of hall sensors. The expected trigger time of hall sensor's output is used for detecting hall sensor fault condition and the PLL type position estimator is reconfigured for fault-tolerant control at the hall sensor fault condition. The proposed method can minimize current ripples during the transition from sensored control using hall sensors to sensorless control. Experimental results have been proposed to prove the validity of the proposed method.
This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy of a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system which has the information of rotor position error. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error to aero. For zero and low speed operation, the PI gains of rotor position tracking controller have a variable structure. The PI tuning formulas are derived by analyzing this control system using the frequency domain specifications such as phase margin and bandwidth assignment.
A new control method for precision robust speed control of a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using load torque observer is presented. With this system we can obtain more reliable eye moving singal(nystagmus) Until now rotating chair system which is called 2D-optokinetic stimulator is used to make dizzincess. However an inclined rotating chair system witch is 3D-optokinetic stimulator is needed to obtain the precise dizziness data. This 3D-optokinetic sitimulator include unbalanced load aused by unbalanced center of mass. For this case new compensation method is considered to obtain robust speed control using load torque observer. To reduce the effect of this disturbance we can use dead-beat observer which has high gain. The application of the load torque observer is published in [1] for position control. A problem of using speed information such as amplifying effect of noise is reduce by moving average process. The experimental results are depicted in this paper to show the effect of this proposed algorithm.

Dynamic friction and force ripple are the most predominant factors that affect the positioning accuracy of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) servo drives system, and it is desirable to compensate them in finite time with a continuous control law. In this paper, based on LuGre dynamic friction model, a robust adaptive skidding mode controller is proposed to compensate the nonlinear effect of friction and force ripple. The controller scheme consists of a PD component and a robust adaptive sliding mode controller for estimating the unknown system parameter. Using Lyapunov stability theorem, asymptotic stability analysis and position tracking performance are guaranteed. Simulation results well verify the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for high0precision motion trajectory tracking.

This paper proposes a fuzzy logic based vector control for the gearless traction machine drive systems using a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The performance of the proposed Fuzzy Logic Control(FLC)-based PMSM drive are investigated and compared to those obtained from the conventional PI controll-based drive system. We have confirmed theoretically and experimentally at different dynamic operating conditions such as step change in command speed, step change in load, etc. The comparative experimental results show that the FLC is more robust and, hence, found to be a suitable replacement of the conventional Pl controller for the high-performance elevator drive system.
In this paper, a robust speed control is proposed for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor system. PMSM without reduction gear has been widely used in high performance application such as robots and machine tools. It is well known that the control performance of the PMSM is very sensitive to load disturbance and system parameter variation. The idea of the proposed speed controller based on combination of sliding mode control with fuzzy gain scheduling. The sliding mode controller leads to fast system dynamics of slight sensitivity to the load disturbance and system parameter variations, the fuzzy gain scheduling mechanism reduces the chattering phenomenon. The simulation results have proved that the proposed control scheme provides a robust control performance under load disturbance and system parameter variation.
This paper proposes a theoretical analysis of a closed loop adaptive speed control system for control the inverter driven permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). This control system utilizes a mechanically sensorless state observer for the generation of all controller feedback information. The observer processes measurements of stator frame voltage and current to produce estimates of rotor position and speed and rotor frame currents. It is shown that the identity observer, when properly formulated, has the same linearized error dynamics as the extended kalman filter(EKF). Consequently, it is shown that the gains within the identity observer can be designed in a manner identical to that of the EKF. In this way, the designability of the nonlinear observer is assured, as is the optimality of its performance for small errors. A sequence of simulation are performed and they demonstrate the successful performance.
