Fabrication of Nano-Structures on NiFe Film by Anodization with Atomic Force Microscope

  • We studied local anodization on permalloy $(Ni_{80}Fe_{20})$ thin film with an atomic force microscope (AFM), which was performed by applying a voltage between the permalloy sample and conductive AFM tip. Comparing with anodization on Si (100) substrate, nano-structures on the permalloy thin film was fabricated with low processability.In order to improve the processability on the permalloy thin film, we used dot-fabrication method, thatis, a conductive AFM probe was kept at a position on the film during the anodization process.

  • Recently we reported the evolutionary transition from the positive magnetoresistance to the negative was discovered in the transverse configuration as the thickness of permalloy film increases. The discovered peculiarities of positive magnetoresistance phenomenal were explained in the framework of the uniform rotation model of the film magnetization reversal.

  • The electrodeposition of permalloy thin film on various substrates was carried out using a paddle cell. The magnetic properties of film deposited were affected mostly by the Fe content in permalloy film and the effect of heat treatment in the presence of applied magnetic field was investigated. The optimum conditions for the electrodeposition of permalloy for the application of thin film head were presented in terms of iron concentration in bath and applied current density.

퍼멀로이와 코네틱 박막의 연자성 특성 비교 (Comparison of Soft Magnetic Properties of Permalloy and Conetic Thin Films)

  • 이온빔 증착법으로 제작한 코닝유리(Corning glass)/Ta(5 nm)/(Permalloy, Conetic)/Ta(5 nm) 박막에 대한 연자성의 특성에 대해 연구하였다. 퍼멀로이(Permalloy; NiFe)층과 코네틱(Conetic; NiFeCuMo)층을 증착하여 인가 자기장 방향에 용이축과 곤란축의 자기저항곡선으로부터 얻은 보자력과 포화자기장에 대해 각각 비교하였다. 두께가 10${\sim}$15 nm인 코네틱 박막의 표면저항값은 퍼멀로이 박막보다 2배 정도 높았으나 보자력과 포화자기장은 1/3배 정도 낮았으며, 자화율은 2${\sim}$3배 정도 높은 초연자성의 특성을 가졌다. 퍼멀로이 박막보다 연자성의 특성이 높은 코네틱 박막을 이용한 스핀밸브나 터널접합의 소자를 개발할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • 80% Ni-Permalloy is soft magnetic material with high initial permeability and low magnetic coercive force Hc, and is used to computer memory cores and minirelays of communication e-ngineering. In this paper 80 Permalloy thin film on copper cathode was alloy-deposited from Watts so-lution contatining FeSO4$.$7H2O. The amount of FeSO4$.$7H2O in the solution, pH, temperature of the solution and plating current density were varied as parameters and the resulting comp-osition changes of deposited film were analyzed electrochemically with respect to the parame-ters. From the above procedure electroplating conditions for deposition of 80 Permalloy were est-ablished as following: 17-21 g/$\ell$ of FeSO4$.$7H2O in Watts solution, current density 1.0-2.0 Amp/dm2, pH 2.5-3.0 and temperature range of 50-60$^{\circ}C$.

  • The stress in Permalloy thin films fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering on the Si (100) substrates has been investigated with various deposition parameters such as the film thickness, argon pressure, and rf power. The internal stress changes from compressive to tensile with higher input power and argon pressure. The cause of stress variations with these deposition parameters is discussed in terms of thermal and/or intrinsic stress changes. Low coercive force is obtained from Permalloy thin films at a condition of low compressive stress.

  • In this paper, we synthesized 10 to 20 nm diameter NiFe nanoparticles and nanoparticle films utilizing supersonic jet deposition of nanoparticle aerosols generated by laser ablation of $30\;to\;45{\mu}m$ diameter permalloy $(Ni_{81}Fe_{19} \;at\;{\%})$ microparticles. The component and composition of the nanoparticles were characterized by an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The morphology of the nanoparticles and nanoparticle films was analyzed by a high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and a scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The experimental results showed that the nanoparticles and nanoparticle films have remarkable properties with an excellent preservation of the composition of feedstock permalloy microparticles. The purpose of the present work is to present details on the composition and nanostructural characterizations for NiFe nanoparticles and nanoparticle films prepared by laser ablation of microparticles (LAM).

스퍼터링 방법에 의한 Fe-Ni 합금 박막의 집합조직 (Textures of Fe-Ni Alloy Thin Films Fabricated by Sputtering Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법을 이용하여 저탄소강 기판에 증착시킨 Fe-Ni계 합금 박막의 집합조직 발달을 조사하였다. Fe-Ni 합금 조성은 산업적 응용을 고려하여 인바합금(Invar alloy, Fe-36.5 wt%Ni)과 퍼멀로이(Permalloy, Fe-81 wt%Ni) 두 종류로 선택하였고, 증착시간을 변수로 제작하였다. 이들 합금 박막의 집합조직은 박막에서 전형적으로 나타나는 섬유집합조직(fibre texture)의 형태로 발달하였다. 인바합금 박막에서는 증착 초기에 <110>//ND 섬유집합조직이 발달하지만 증착시간이 증가함에따라 <210>//ND 섬유집합조직으로 변화하였다. 퍼멀로이 박막은 증착초기에 <221>//ND+<311>//ND의 혼합 집합조직을 나타내며 증착시간의 증가와 함께 <210>//ND 섬유집합조직으로 변화하였다. 이러한 집합조직의 변화를 박막의 미세조직의 진화와의 연관성이란 측면에서 고찰하였다.

DC-DC Converter용 자성박막 인덕터 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Magnetic Thin Film Inductors for DC-DC Converter Applications)

  • In this study, the optimum structure of a magnetic thin film inductor was designed for application of DC-DC converters. The Ni$\sub$81/Fe$\sub$19/ (at%) alloy was selected as a high-frequency($\geq$MHz) magnetic thin film magnetron sputtering system. As-deposited NiFe thin films show similar magnetic properties compared to bulk NiFe alloys, indicating that they have a good film quality. The optimum design of dolenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was performed utilizing a Maxwell computer simulator (Ansoftt HFSS V7.0 for PC) and parameters obtained from the magnetic properties of magnetic core materials selected. The high-frequency characteristics of the inductance(L) and quality factor(Q) obtained for the designed inductors through simulation agreed well with those obtained by theoretical calculations, confirming that the simulated result is realistic. The optimum structure of high-performance (Q$\geq$60, L = 1${\mu}$H, efficiency $\geq$90%), high-frequency ($\geq$5MHz), and solenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was designed successfully.

퍼말로이 박막의 이방성불균일에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Anisotropy Inhomogeneity of Permalloy Thin Films)

  • 2축 Helmholtz 코일을 이용해서 연자성박막의 이방성 분산을 측정할 수 있는 장치를 제작하여 TBP(Transverse Biased Permeability) 측정 방법으로 rf 스파터방법으로 제작한 퍼말로이박막의 이방성 불균일성을 측정하였다. 각도불균일분포함수의 경우 Lorentz 함수형태를 띄며, 크기불균일 분포함수의 경우 자장이 큰 영역에서의 분산 값이 커져 대칭분포에서 벗어난다. 퍼말로이 박막의 두께가 증가할수록 이방성의 각도 및 크기분산이 커지고 각도 분산의 경우 이것은 두께 증가에 따른 결정립 크기의 증대와 국소이방성의 증가로 설명할 수 있었다.
