  • External wall cleaning is a task that is currently being performed by human workers. The recent surge in the number of high-rise buildings has led to such problems as difficulties in cleaning the wall, high risk to the specialized workers, and increased maintenance expenses. As a fundamental measure to perform external wall cleaning work in a safer manner, automation/mechanization has been on the rise. This research aims to classify façade types and analyze the performance requirements of a wall-cleaning robot, as preliminary research to develop a wall-cleaning robot. The replacement of specialized workers with robots is expected to improve both safety for workers and quality of cleaning.

  • Recently, the fieldbus becomes an indispensable component for many automated systems. In the fieldbus system, realtime data containing sensor values and control commands has a tendency to rapidly lose its value as time elapses after its creation. In order to deliver these data in time, the fieldbus network should be designed to have short delay compared to the maximum allowable delay. Because the communication delay is affected by performance parameters such as target rotation timer of token passing protocol, it is necessary to select proper parameter settings to satisfy the real-time requirement for communication delay. This paper presents the timer selection method for Profibus token passing networks using genetic algorithm (GA) to meet the delay requirements.

  • The Korean Bridge Design Standard Specifications adopted the seismic design requirements in 1992. However, The current seismic design requirements for bridges are based on the USA seismic codes for sever earthquake. This provides the basic factors that affects the performance of spiral reinforced concrete piers for seismic loading, and The specimen tests are performed based on load-displacement, effective stiffness and displacement ductility, etc. The quasi-static test was adopted in order to investigate seismic performance of the spiral reinforced concrete pier specimens which had different transverse steel amount, spacing and longitudinal steel ratio under different axial load levels. This study is concluded that seismic design for transverse reinforcement content of spiral reinforced concrete column has influenced on axial load and effective stiffness etc.

  • Social requirements to the civil and building structures have been changed in accordance with the social and economic progress. It is very important to develop the innovative structural materials and tecnology that the social requirements appropriately. Ductility of High Performance Fiber Reinforced cementitious Composites (HPFRCC), which exhibit strain hardening and multiple crackling characteristics under the uniaxial tensile stress are drastically improved. Because ductility in tensile test are very different according to specimen shapes, three types of the direct tensile test are performed. The tensile test are performed using the tensile test specimen, dummbell-shaped specimen, and cylinder specimen. As a result, tensile performance in HPFRCC is very good comparing to cylinder specimen because of direction characteristics of fibers. It is necessary to clarify the examination method of suiting to the usage.

  • This paper evaluates the RF transmitting parameters of User Equipment(UE) for W-CDMA system based on 3GPP specifications. The parameters of transmitter are derived from the aspect of RF. In order to keep UE in high performance, the transmitter requirements such as ACLR, EVM, Peak Code Domain Error, spectrum emission mask are considered. The UE transceiver is implemented on the basis of performance requirements and then tested for the analysis of RF transmitter characteristics through test scenarios.

  • The application of the compressive force path method for the design of earthquake-resistant reinforced concrete structural walls with a shear span-to-depth ratio larger than 2.5 has been shown by experiment to lead to a significant reduction of the code specified transverse reinforcement within the critical lengths without compromising the code requirements for structural performance. The present work complements these findings with experimental results obtained from tests on structural walls with a shear span-to-depth ratio smaller than 2.5. The results show that the compressive force path method is capable of safeguarding the code performance requirements without the need of transverse reinforcement confining concrete within the critical lengths. Moreover, it is shown that ductility can be considerably increased by improving the strength of the two bottom edges of the walls through the use of structural steel elements extending to a small distance of the order of 100 mm from the wall base.

  • In this paper, we propose fuzzy closed BCMP queueing network model for the performance evaluation of distributed processing system. Which has the ambiguous service requirements of job to servers and service rates of server according to network environments. This model can derive the measures for system Performances using fuzzy mean value analysis which can process the fuzzy factors. Computer simulation has been performed for verifying the effectiveness of derived equations of performance evaluation according to service requirements of job and the numbers of clients.

  • Construction robotics is rapidly forming a market in conjunction with the development of sensing and artificial intelligence technologies. The layout work for accurately constructing the shape and dimensions of the building frame requires high accuracy and precision, and is one of the high demands for productivity and quality improvement through construction automation. Thus, as a preliminary study, we derived the elemental factors and performance requirements for developing an automated layout robot. In addition, alternatives on driving and marking units were investigated based on literature review and practioner's interview. The result of this study will be used as a basic data for the layout robot design.
