  • Recently, framed structure is increasingly being used as apartment structure due to the advantages during remodeling. Therefore, the use of lightweight panel as separating wall is increasing. To construct lightweight panel structures with sound insulation performance appropriate to the conditions of each field, measurement of sound reduction index(SRI) through panel structures should be performed. In this study, measurement of SRI through 46 kinds of panel structures was performed in the condition of various factors such as surface density, air space and absorber. The result showed that SRI of panel structures was generally higher by increasing of surface density. In the case of double panel with no absorber, SRI at below critical frequency was gradually increased according to rise of air space. Double panel with absorber make remarkable improvement in SRI at low frequency, but there is a little difference compared with SRI of double panel with no absorber over critical frequency.

  • This paper introduces the new Direct Torque Control(DTC) method based on the estimated torque in Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) and applies the proposed DTC to SRM for the instantaneous torque ripple reduction. The nonlinear characteristics of SRM is considered in the calculation of the estimated torque and the theory is described in this paper. Current control is one of the kernel elements of torque controller and the performance of the current control should be high for this work. But the conventional PI current control has a weak point in SRM application because of motional EMF. Consequently, this paper makes up for the weakness of PI controller through present of new current controller, that is termed the non-interference current control. The ability of proposed torque and current controller is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • The engineering use of CFD is recently extending to the prediction of maneuvering characteristics, response to waves, propeller performance, and so on. The focus of the research is shifting to simulation of more complex processes. Typical examples of such processes are bow or stern slamming, green water problem, propeller cavitation, hull-propeller interaction, or drag reduction by bubble injection. Those processes are characterized by keywords such as high nonlinearity, unsteadiness, multiphase flow. In this paper, two new attempts which have been recently made by the author's research grop are presented. One is the prediction of propeller cavitation and its effect to the ship hull. The others is the application to the drag reduction by use of air bubbles.

  • Among after treatment devices which reduce exhaust gas of diesel engine, diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) with high reduction efficiency for gaseous matter and particulate matter is now being studied actively. In this study, an experiment was conducted to analyze the effects on factors of oxidaton characteristics and conversion efficiency of DOC. We tested to estimate change of engine performance whether a 11,000cc diesel engine equipps with DOC or not. We conducted test to estimate the reduction efficiency of exhaust gas in P-5 mode, in D-13 mode of heavy duty diesel regulation mode and in somoke opacity mode for two samples and also we conducted test to analyze the effects about both exhaust gas velocities 1,100rpm and 2,200rpm

  • This paper deals with an optimal angle error reduction method of magnetic position sensor using hall effect elements. The angle detection simulation for the magnetic position sensor is performed by 3 dimensional finite element method and Taguchi method, one of the design of experiments. The magnetic position sensor is required to generate ideal sine and cosine waveforms from its hall effect elements according to rotation angle for precise angle information. However, the output signals are easy to include harmonics due to uneven magnetic field distribution from permanent magnet in the air-gap in the vicinity of hall effect elements. For the Taguchi method, three design parameters related to position of hall effect elements and shape of back yoke are selected. The characteristics of optimal magnetic position sensor are compared with those of original one in terms of simulation as well as experiment. Finally, the performances of the motor adopting original model and optimal model are represented for the purpose of verification of motor performance due to signals from magnetic position sensor.

  • This paper presents the analysis and design of an active electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter (AEF) for the common-mode (CM) noise reduction of switching power converters. The features of the several types of AEFs are discussed and compared in terms of implementation. The feed-forward AEF with a voltage-sensing and voltage-cancellation (VSVC) structure is implemented for an LLC resonant converter to replace a multiple-stage passive EMI filter and thereby reduce CM noise. The characteristics and performance of the VSVC-type AEF are investigated through theoretical and experimental works.

  • The base-isolation technology is to set up LRB between the base of a building and the ground to protect the building from seismic force. As Korea belongs to the region of moderate or weak seismicity it is more resonable to apply the base-isolation technology of LRB in the field of the response reduction of equipments under machine or transportation vibrations than in the field of seismic response reduction of buildings, In this paper small-scale LRB's designed for the response reduction of equipments are manufactured and tested for thier performance. The shaking table test is conducted to analyze the characteristics of LRB such as the variation of natural frequencies damping ratios and equipments responses.

  • Platinum catalyst activity and stability is excellent in terms of fuel cells as a catalyst here. Although it is widely used, to compensate for the high price issue non-precious fuel cell catalysts are being developed. In this study, Co/PANi/CNT composite and non-precious as a catalyst for oxygen reduction was applied. Polyaniline on the interaction between cobalt and the oxygen reduction reaction and the structural characteristics observed in the impact and heat treatment was carried out according to the improved catalytic performance. Potential range is oxygen reduction reaction 0.55 V to 0.78 V(vs. NHE) after pyrolysis. Through this study, Co /PANi/CNT composites as a potential catalyst for fuel cells were non-precious.

  • In this study, characteristics of the problem solving process of the balancing redox equations was ana-lyzed by mental capacity and problem solving methods, and the pertinent teaching and learning guidance for oxidation-reduction unit was suggested. Participants were 79 senior high school students and 57 science high school students. Tests were conducted to measure the mental capacity, the understanding of the oxidation-reduction concepts and the com-pletion of the balancing redox equations. The framework was made to find the patterns of failure and success. As the analysis of the influence on the performance of mental capacity, understanding of the oxidation-reduction concepts, and problem solving methods, students who had lower understanding of oxidation-reduction concepts selected the trial and error method, and their performance were influenced by mental capacity. The students that had higher understanding of the oxidation-reduction concepts had good performance by using oxidation number method regardless of their mental capacity. As the results of analysis for the patterns, the success patterns of solving the problems, those of mostly the sci-ence high school students, were the cases of using oxidation number method well and lessening problem solving steps. The patterns of failure in solving problems by using trial and error method showed that students had mistakes in cal-culating, errors in making unknown equations, no consideration for all variables, or stopped solving the complicated problems. The patterns of failure in solving problems by using oxidation number method showed that many students had wrong oxidation number or no consideration for mass and charge balance.
