This presentation reviews the current progress in the technology of Light Emitting Diode (LED) as it relates to the LED backlight for Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). A vivid description is given about the performance of LED that is still on the rise and certain limitations of LED that is on the decline.

Vibration isolation of mechanical systems, in general is achieved through either passive or active vibration control system. Although passive vibration isolators offer simple and reliable means to protect mechanical system from vibration environment, passive vibration isolator has inherent performance limitation. Whereas, active vibration isolator provide significantly superior vibration-isolation performance. Recently, many studied and applications are carried out in this field. In this study, vibration-isolation characteristics of active vibration control system using electromagnetic force actuator are investigated. Some control algorithms. Optimal Feedforward are used for active vibration isolation. Form the experimental results of each control algorithms, active vibration isolation characteristics are investigated.

In this study, the various supply system of LRE such as a feed-line, an elbow, and an orifice as a part of integrated analyzing has been combined to develop the performance analysis program. Computational analysis has been used to compare the results and to verify the validity and limitation conditions of the performance analysis program by changing orifice positions.

Total stress analysis method and nonlinear constitutive models have been used to analyze a dynamic performance of Dams but, there is some limitation in analysis, for example, effects of build up of pore pressure and generations of permanent deformations. Therefore considering these limitations, which is mentioned before, dynamic behavior characteristics of dams and response acceleration characteristics was analyzed in time domain, applying an elasto-plastic constitutive model and effective analysis method.

Normal operation when deeply submerged is a relatively easy task, and human operator control can often provide adequate performance. Near surface depthkeeping, on the other hand, is difficult to both man and machine. Because of the inherent limitation of the human operator, manual control may prove inadequate for near surface depthkeeping in some sea state. This paper describe the control algorithm of an automatic depth control system for submerged body that can be used for both near surface and deeply submerged depthkeeping operations. The computer simulations demonstrate the excellent depthkeeping performance of the controller under seaway effects.

Nowadays advanced manufacturing companies are trying to find a way to check the performance of their production equipments and plants from remote sites. However, it is hard to monitor the status of machine or to check the performance of the processes because the regional limitation of distributed environment. This paper presents research results in the real time monitoring of machining processes and internet_based operation of machining centers via internet, which is implemented using VRML and JAVA.

In the future, the performance of B-lSDN offering the multimedia and a various service depends on the performance of switch that is the important factor consisting of network. Bufferless banyan network consisted of MIN(multistage interconnection network) selected for- the fabric of ATM switch and has a limitation of performance because of blocking. Input buffered banyan networks with FIFO(first-in first-out) buffering scheme for the reduction of blocking and the cell bypass queueing theory for the reduction of HOL(head of line) blocking were seperately compared of the performance of switch. Specially input buffered banyan networks were applied monotonic buffering scheme that was proposed. As a result of simulation, Buffered Banyan Network with cell bypass queueing theory showed better performance than FIFO type input buffered Banyan network. Monotonic increase buffering scheme showed better performance than Monotonic decrease buffering scheme.

Recently, performance auditing system of governmen is carried out as most promising framework of government audit. Performance audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea involves assessing the causes and effects of government policies, programs, and Institutions with the criteria of economy, efficiency, effectiveness. Performance auditing will contribute to strengthening the values of objective assessments of whether public resources are responsibly and effectively managed to achieve intended results. Nevertheless, there seems to be a problems appears in implementation of audit. That is the problems of tendency return to legitimacy audit which is result from the lack of strong approach and methodology. So, this study purpose to developing stronger audit concepts and methods that add to the process and framework of traditional performance auditing system. First, this study evaluates the limitation of current performance auditing system with the perspective of systems thinking. Second, this study analyzes the process and method of current system and develop the conceptual model of the Dynamics Audit System using the system dynamics methodology, which focused on the appropriate auditing process and framework.

The purpose of this study was to Investigate about current status of authentic science performance assessment in elementary schools. A total of 707 elementary teachers was involved and the data from questionnaire was gathered. The questionnaire was comprised two categories: items on the epistemological aspect & items on the actual condition. The major findings are as follows: 1. There are some elementary teachers who don't have a clear understanding on what authentic science performance assessment is even though most of teachers admit the importance of authentic performance assessment in their science teaching. 2. Malty teachers have chosen and have used experimental activities or performance tasks rather than they have developed tasks of their own. 3. Malty teachers have pointed out 'tile lack of time for performance assessment preparation' and 'the limitation of class time' as tile problems of working on science performance assessment in elementary schools.

This study purposes to examine the relationship between high performance-HRM system of medical doctor and the effectiveness of hospital. The high performance-HRM practices were derived from reviewing the literature of SHRM(Strategic Human Resource Management) and investigating some cases of Korean leading hospitals. The result reveals that the high performance-HRM system of medical doctor is significantly related with subject measurement such as financial performance, employees' turnover, and customer(patient) satisfaction. Moreover, it is positively related to objective performance such as hospital's profit growth, yearly patient growth. Based on the result, the academic and practical implications are suggested and then the limitation and further research directions are discussed.
