  • This paper deals with the estimation performance DoA (Direction of Arrival) using the 3D adaptive array antenna in W-CDMA signal. For this, we proposed the 5 types of 3D array antenna, and appied for the MUSIC in order to the estimation of DoA algorithm for that antenna, commonly, then the DoA estimation error was used for the estimation performance. In the mobile communication and radio positioning service, performing the spatial filtering after the DoA estimation in array antenna, the quality of receiving signal can improve by the nulling or minimization of interfering signal which is from the undesired direction and the forming of beam which is from the desired direction. The result of DoA estimation and the DoA estimation error by varying the signal to noise ration and the number of interfering signal and power of each type antenna was calculated by computer simulation. As a result of simulation, the other propose antenna has good performance excluding the stack 3D antenna in DoA estimation and the Curved-B type antenna has more superior performance when increasing the number of interfering signal and power in the DoA estimation error.

  • For the purpose of improving the accuracy of Wide Area Differential GNSS (WA-DGNSS), estimation performance of ionospheric delay error which has a great impact on GPS error sources should be enhanced. This paper applied multi-constellation GNSS which represents GPS in USA, GLONASS in Russia, and Galileo in Europe to WA-DGNSS algorithm in order to improve performance of ionospheric delay estimation. Furthermore, we conducted simulation to analyze ionospheric delay estimation performance in Korean region by increasing the number of reference stations. Consequently, using multi-constellation GNSS to improve performance of ionospheric delay estimation is more effective than increasing the number of reference stations in spite of similar number of measurements which are in use for estimation. We expect this result can contribute to improvement for ionospheric delay estimation performance of single-frequency SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) user.

  • This paper introduces the development of automatic system for estimation of digital relay performance. We have developed an automatic estimation system "HRV2004(Himap Relay function Verifier 2004)" for digital relay in 2004 and it has been verified in the field for one years. This paper describes the development details and field experience of HRV2004. HRV2004 can perform a series of jobs required for the relay testing in one environment and could handle most of all models of protective relay currently produced by Hyundai Heavy Industries. The functionality of this program consists of GUI of relay setting for beginner, fault record analysis and relay performance estimation. The core of this system is an automatic reporting of estimation test. If user is only click a button for relay estimation and one will received testing report to deliver customer. Additional benefit is fast response than the manual estimation. For example, the manual estimation takes spending 6 hours but this system is about 15 minutes.

  • In this paper, a decision-directed expectation maximization (DEM) algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of channel estimation in OFDM-based cellular systems. The DEM algorithm enables a mobile station (MS) with multiple antennas, located at the cell boundary, to increase the performance of channel estimation using transmit data, without decreasing spectral efficiency. Also, DEM algorithm can apply fast fading without loss of channel estimation performance because that includes channel variation factor in a group. It is verified by computer simulation that the DEM algorithm can reduce computational complexity significantly while improving the performance of channel estimation in fast fading channels, compared with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm.

  • This paper presents the study results on the design of the correction filter to improve the azimuth error estimation of the high-speed guided missile launched from the warship after the transfer alignment. We theoretically proved that the transfer alignment performance is determined by the accuracy of the marine inertial navigation system and the observability of the attitude error state variable in the transfer alignment filter, and that most of navigation errors in high-speed guided missile are caused by azimuth error. In order to improve the azimuth estimation performance of the correction filter, the multiple adaptive estimation method and the adaptive filters adapting the measurement noise covariance or the process noise covariance are proposed. The azimuth estimation performance of the proposed adaptive filter and the existing Kalman filter are compared and analyzed each other for 8 different transfer alignment accuracy cases. As a result of comparison and analysis, it was confirmed that the adaptive filter adapting the process noise covariance has the best azimuth estimation performance. These results can be applied to the design of correction filters for high-speed guided missile.

  • A joint channel estimation and data detection technique for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless communication system is proposed. It combines the least square (LS) training based channel estimation (TBCE) scheme with sphere decoding. In this new approach, channel estimation is enhanced with the help of blind symbols, which are selected based on their correctness. The correctness is determined via sphere decoding. The performance of the new scheme is studied through simulation in terms of the bit error rate (BER). The results show that the proposed channel estimation has comparable performance and better computational complexity over the existing semi-blind channel estimation (SBCE) method.

  • Kernel density estimation is a prevalent technique employed for nonparametric density estimation, enabling direct estimation from the data itself. This estimation involves two crucial elements: selection of the kernel function and the determination of the appropriate bandwidth. The selection of the bandwidth plays an important role in kernel density estimation, which has been developed over the past decade. A range of methods is available for selecting the bandwidth, including the plug-in bandwidth. In this article, the proposed plug-in bandwidth is introduced, which leverages shifted Chebyshev series-based approximation to determine the optimal bandwidth. Through a simulation study, the performance of the suggested bandwidth is analyzed to reveal its favorable performance across a wide range of distributions and sample sizes compared to alternative bandwidths. The proposed bandwidth is also applied for kernel density estimation on real dataset. The outcomes obtained from the proposed bandwidth indicate a favorable selection. Hence, this article serves as motivation to explore additional plug-in bandwidths that rely on function approximations utilizing alternative series expansions.

  • Pre-Rake CDMA system using multiple transmit antenna provides a good system performance without equipping a complicated RAKE combiner at the mobile receiver. However, the performance of the Pre-Rake systems are significantly affected by channel estimation error so that the effect of the channel estimation error should be considered and analyzed for evaluating the system performance. In this paper, MISO(Multi-Input Multi-output) Pre-Rake CDMA system with channel estimation error is analyzed by numerical analysis and the results are compared with that of the computer simulation. From the numerical results, it is found that the performance of the Pre-Rake system is more affected by the phase error than the amplitude error.

  • from the viewpoint of model-based current control it is indispensable to use the accurate system parameters for the high control performance. This paper adopts the Least-Squares algorithm as a parameter estimation scheme because it has the fast convergence rate and the low sensitivity to noises. in case of the PI current controller with high gains the simulation results show that the adopted estimation scheme can be successfully applied to PWM converters and also show that the control performance can be improved by using the estimated parameters.

  • The existing method s for curvature estimation have a common problem in determining a unique smoothong factor. we previously proposed two approaches to overcome that problem: a constrained regularization approach and a mean field annealing approach. We consistently detected corners from the perprocessed smooth boundary obtained by either the constrained eglarization approach or the mean field annealing approach. Moreover, we defined corner sharpness to increase the robustness of both approaches. We evaluate the performance of those methods proposed in this paper. In addition, we show some matching results using a two-dimensional Hopfield neural network in the presence of occlusion as a demonstration of the power of our proposed methods.
