Purpose: The purpose of this study is to consider ways to strengthen it through comparison and curriculum while recognizing the importance of global competencies in liberal arts education in universities. Methods: In order to explore ways to reinforce the sub-competence of global competencies, this study was conducted at a four-year university in Chungcheong-do for one year in 2019, such as 'Global Culture Talk', 'Global Travel', 'Global Nanta', and 'Making Global Friends'. Cases of comparison and application of educational programs were analyzed. The program was attended by the Department of Business Administration, Department of Aviation Service, Department of Design, Department of Manga Animation, Department of Broadcasting and Film, and foreign exchange students. The competency-centered curriculum not only has clear educational goals, but is also very advantageous in establishing a feedback system by measuring its performance. This study will assess the effectiveness of the education plan by diagnosing the change in competencies before and after the comparison and curriculum is operated. Results: The overall global competency has increased by 0.2 points compared to 2017. By subsector, it was found that the flexibility increased by 1.4 points. In the field of cross-cultural understanding, it rose 0.6 points, and in the field of global understanding, it rose 2.2 points, showing the largest increase in the sub-fields. Nevertheless, the field of global interest remains at a low level. This is considerably low compared to flexibility and ability to understand other cultures, and it is expected that measures for improvement should be continuously sought. Since the understanding of other cultures has already exceeded 60 points, it is expected that the global competency of the university will be strengthened if the level is consistently maintained and the emphasis is placed on enhancing flexibility and improving global understanding. Conclusion: The importance of strengthening global capabilities is steadily rising. Universities are also reorganizing the curriculum by analyzing the needs and satisfaction of education consumers to respond to this. The programs operated and analyzed in this study were also made as part of this effort. However, since there are various factors that affect global competency, it cannot be but admitted that it is not easy to gauge the change in competency with only a few programs and short-term efforts. However, if the efforts pursued by this study are accumulated and supplemented through feedback from a long-term perspective, it can be expected that there are not a lot of contributions to strengthening global competencies in liberal arts education.

Safety accidents in the construction industry account for the highest percentage of all industries; and thus, it is encouraged to introduce a virtual reality (VR)-based experiential education system into the basic occupational safety and health training for construction as a way to solve the problem. However, there are some limitations such as a lack of competent workforce, and insufficient content and equipment for VR-based construction safety education. In this background, this study aimed to analyze the difference in learning effect between the CG-based experiential VR education (direct method, type B) and the existing photo-based audiovisual VR education (indirect method, type A), in which a CAMIL (Cognitive & Affective Model of Immersive Learning) theory was used as objective assessment tool. The learning effect of the direct education method (type B) was found to be superior to that of the indirect education method (type A) in terms of all areas in the CAMIL theory. It is expected that the VR-based experiential construction safety education will increase the learning effect of construction workers.
As the impermeable area of soil increases due to urbanization, the water circulation system of the city is deteriorating. The existing guidelines for low impact development (LID) facilities installed to solve these water problems or in previous studies, engineering aspects are more prominent than landscaping aspects. This study attempted to present an engineering and landscaping model for reducing pollutants by identifying the effects of vegetation on rainfall outflows and pollutant reduction in bioretention and the economic aspects of planting. Based on the results of artificial rainfall monitoring at Jeonju Seogok Park and the literature on vegetation rainfall runoff and pollutant reduction performance, the best vegetation for reducing pollution compared to cost was Lythrum salicaria L and Salix gracilistyla Miq. was the best vegetation for carbon storage. If you insist to design plants with only these two plantation, there is no choice but to take risks such as biodiversity. Herbaceous plants such as Lythrum salicaria L can be replaced by death of the plants or pests if considered planting various plants. The initial planting cost could expensive, but it is also necessary to mix and plant Salix gracilistyla Miq, which are woody plants that are advantageous in terms of maintenance, according to the surrounding environment and conditions. Based on the conclusions drawn in this study, it can be a reference material when considering the reduction of pollution by species and carbon storage of vegetation in LID facilities.
The non-face-to-face environment accelerated by COVID-19 has speeded up the dissemination of digital virtual ecosystems and metaverse. In order for the metaverse to be sustainable, digital twins that are compatible with the real world are key, and critical technology for that is AR (Augmented Reality). In this study, we examined research trends about AR, and will propose the directions for future AR research. We conducted LDA based topic modeling on 11,049 abstracts of published domestic and foreign AR related papers from 2009 to Mar 2022, and then looked into AR that was comprehensive research trends, comparison of domestic and foreign research trends, and research trends before and after the popularity of metaverse concepts. As a result, the topics of AR related research were deduced from 11 topics such as device, network communication, surgery, digital twin, education, serious game, camera/vision, color application, therapy, location accuracy, and interface design. After popularity of metaverse, 6 topics were deduced such as camera/vision, training, digital twin, surgical/surgical, interaction performance, and network communication. We will expect, through this study, to encourage active research on metaverse AR with convergent characteristics in multidisciplinary fields and contribute to giving useful implications to practitioners.

As the age increases, the oral cavity, that is, the teeth and periodontium, also begin to age, and accordingly, a preparation process is required. The preparation process is an important period for oral health management to start continuously with oral health education consisting of knowledge, attitude, and behavior from the 20s. Therefore, to design a clinical dental hygiene course for patients who visited a dental clinic in Gyeonggi-do and received continuous care in an oral health care room after treatment, we tried to analyze the data of the dental hygiene assessment. As a dental hygiene assessment tool, based on personal information and general medical history, dental visit experience, bleeding on probing(BOP), bad breath measurement, phase contrast microscopy, and O'Leary index were performed. The number of subjects who had dental visits was 75.4% and those without experience were 24.6%, and as a result of the periodontal examination, generally bleeding was found in 76.3%. In preventive oral care, the stage of dental hygiene assessment in the 20s is an important first step. From this point on, it is an important time to be systematically habituated so that you can take responsibility for your own oral condition. Therefore, in this study, the results of dental hygiene assessment through oral examinations of subjects in their 20s are derived and presented as basic data for the development of dental hygiene performance competency of dental hygienists during the clinical dental hygiene process in oral health education and oral health management.

The strategy to develop a launch vehicle family by bundling multiple rocket engines of a single type has been proven by SpaceX and their reusable fleet comprised of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. In this study, we revisit a potential launch vehicle family out of a 35 tonf-class methalox staged combustion cycle engine and evaluate their utility and performance in various space missions. For example, a Korean version of Falcon 9 can deliver 4.7 tons of payload into 500 km SSO in an expendable mode while the payload is reduced to 2.16 tons in a sea-landing reusable mode. A Korean version of Falcon Heavy can deliver 4.4 tons into GTO when launched from the Naro Space Center, indicating that this common booster core configuration can handle Cheollian 2 albeit the high inclination. Once developed, the same methaloax engine can power the first-stage of smallsat launch vehicles and air launch vehicles.

This study suggests a guideline for designing unit process of wastewater reuse in terms of a maintenance of the process based on critical parameters to draw a high quality performance of RO unit. Defining the parameters was done by applying membrane integrity test (MIT) in pretreatment process utilizing lab-scale MF. SDI is utilized for judging whether permeate is suitable to RO unit. However, result said TOC concentration matching with particle count analysis is better for judging the permeate condition. When membrane test pressure (Ptest) was measured to derive log removal value in PDT, virgin state of membrane fiber was used to measure dynamic contact angle utilizing surface tension of the membrane fiber. Actually, foulant affects to the state of membrane surface, and it decreases the Ptest value along with time elapsed. Consequently, LRVDIT is also affected by Ptest value. Thus, sensitivity of direct integrity test descends with result of Ptest value change, so Ptest value should be considered not the virgin state of the membrane but its current state. Overall, this study focuses on defining design parameters suitable to MF pretreatment for RO process in wastewater reuse by assessing its impact. Therefore, utilities can acknowledge that the membrane surface condition must be considered when users conduct the direct integrity test so that Ptest and other relative parameter used to calculate LRVDIT are adequately measured.
In this study, hexagonal ferrite powder with chemical formula SrZn2-xCoxFe16O27 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method and its electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption characteristics were evaluated in the frequency range of 0.1-18 GHz with absorber thickness range of 0 - 10 mm. Reflection loss (RL) affecting electromagnetic wave absorption performance was calculated based on the transmission line theory using measured complex permeabilities and permittivities. RL spectra were also directly measured for some samples. They were well matched with calculated results. High-frequency complex permeability characteristics were changed gradually according to the amount of Co substitution (x). The EM wave absorption frequency band could be tuned accordingly. Hexaferrite samples with x = 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 exhibited remarkable maximum electromagnetic wave absorption performances with minimum RL (RLmin) lowered than -50 dB. They also showed a very broad frequency band (Δf > 10 GHz) in which more than 90% of the EM wave energy absorption occurred (RL ≤ -10 dB).

Fiber-reinforced composites have anisotropic material properties, so the mechanical properties of composite structures can vary depending on the stacking sequence. Therefore, it is essential to design the proper stacking sequence of composite structures according to the functional requirements. However, depending on the manufacturing condition or the shape of the structure, there are many cases where the designed stacking angle is out of range, which can affect structural performance. Accordingly, it is important to analyze the stacking angle in order to confirm that the composite structure is correctly fabricated as designed. In this study, the stacking angle was predicted from real cross-sectional images of fiber-reinforced composites using convolutional neural network (CNN)-based deep learning. Carbon fiber-reinforced composite specimens with several stacking angles were fabricated and their cross-sections were photographed on a micro-scale using an optical microscope. The training was performed for a CNN-based deep learning model using the cross-sectional image data of the composite specimens. As a result, the stacking angle can be predicted from the actual cross-sectional image of the fiber-reinforced composite with high accuracy.
Objective: The aim of this trial was to investigate the effect of supplementation and withdrawal of selenium-enriched kale sprouts (SeKS) on productivity and egg Se concentration of laying hens. Selenium from commercial Se-enriched yeast (SeY) was used as a comparative Se source. Methods: One-hundred and eighty 61-week-old laying hens were randomly divided into 5 treatment groups with 4 replicates (9 hens each) in a 2×2+1 Augmented Factorial Experiment in a completely randomized design. The experimental diets were basal diet, basal diet supplemented with 0.2 and 0.4 mg Se/kg from SeKS and SeY, respectively. The 8-week feeding trial was divided into 2 periods, namely the Se supplemental period (week 1 to 4) and the Se withdrawal period (week 5 to 8). Results: Productive performance, egg quality and egg Se concentration of laying hens were not affected by sources of Se (SeKS and SeY) during both, the Se supplemental and withdrawal periods. Egg production and egg Se concentration increased (p<0.05) with increasing levels of Se supplementation. The egg Se concentration increased and reached a peak 1 week after Se supplementation. However, concentration of Se in eggs of hens fed Se from both sources decreased rapidly from the second week of the Se withdrawal period to reach the same egg Se concentration of hens fed the basal diet by the fourth week of the Se withdrawal period. Conclusion: The efficacy of Se from SeKS on productivity and egg Se concentration in laying hens was comparable to commercial SeY. Thus, SeKS can provide an alternate organic Se source for production of Se-enriched eggs.
