The purpose of this study was to examine the entry behaviors of kindergarten children into peer dyads and the responses of the peer dyads in relation to the sex and sociometric status of the entering child. The subjects were 46 triads(138 children). Each triad consisted of two children of average peer status and one child of high/low peer status, identified by the Peer Rating Scale. The two children of the average peer status were placed in a small laboratory and were given a game to play. After the game had started, the child of high/low peer status entered into the laboratory. The behaviors of the entering child and the responses of the peer dyads were videotaped for 6 minutes. The data were analyzed by sex(2)${\times}$sociometric status (2) ANOVAs and ${\chi}^2$-tests. The results were as follows: (1)Popular children showed more group-oriented statements and fewer waiting behaviors than non-popular children. (2)Popular children elicited more positive responses and were less ignored than non-popular children. (3)The peer group responded positively to the entering child's helping, agreeing, and giving group-oriented statements, and neglected the entering child's waiting behaviors.
This study intends to investigate preschool-sibling's spontaneous imitation during their free-plays through the observation of 41 pairs of siblings aged from 1 to seven years. RESULTS : 1. Sibling's imitation showed in all subjects and had various distribution according to sibling's personalities. 2. Because of sibling's several facts. Their imitation showed differently. 1) Imitation appeared to decline to decline as children grew older. Imitation showed most frequently at the age of 2 years, and decreased after that. 2) Due to the effect of birth-order, the younger one showed his imitation approximately 4.3 times more than the elder one. 3) The effect of sex-composition seemed to coincide with the sex-typing hypothesis rather than the like-sex hypothesis. 4) Boy's imitation showed more frequently than girl's, but the difference was not so significant to be noticed. 3. In siblings, physical imitation was more frequent than verbal imitation, but it was reversed in peer's imitation. 4. The play-situation in which sibling's imitation showed mostly differed from that of Peer's imitation. That is, sibling's imitation appeared in solitary play but peers imitation did appear in associate play.
The Revised Classroom Play(RCP) scale was validated for Korean 4th grade students. 104 boys and 80 girls took the translated RCP. Test-retest reliability was established with 41 children after 2 months, and test of criterion-related validation was established by the Social Behavior Scale administered to 71 children. All raw scores were standardized by classroom and sex to adjust for differences in the number of nominators and nominatees. The structure of the RCP resulted in 3 factors, 'sociability-disruptive' and 'shy-isolated', with 28 items similar to the original RCP 3 factors. For criterion-related validity, the correlations between the 3 factors of the RCP and the 3 factors of the Social Behavior Scale were positive. For internal consistencies, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of the RCP factors ranged from .77 to .94. Test-retest reliability coefficients ranged from .33 to .51. Analyses of variance revealed good item discrepancies for all 28 items. These results confirm the RCP as a valid and reliable measure of the quality of peer relations.
This study examined how infant-teacher relationships perceived by teachers related to observed toddler-teacher and toddler-peer interactions in play. Participants were 57 2-year-old toddlers and their 8 teachers. Toddler-teacher perceived relationships were examined by questionnaire toddler-teacher and toddler-toddler interactions were observed and recorded during play. Data were analyzed by correlation. Results were : (1) the perceived relationships of toddlers to multiple teachers in the classroom were very similar. (2) The pattern of interactions between toddlers and teachers was similar to that of interactions between toddlers and peers. (3) The more positive the toddler-teacher perceived relationship, the more positive the observed interactions between the children and teachers and between children and their peers.
Objectives: Peer role-play (PRP) has been used in health care training simulations because standardized patient training requires considerable time and expense. This study described the implementation of clinical simulation using PRP and examined the effect. Methods: Final year students from a single college of Korean medicine engaged in PRP as part of clinical skills practice. Education tools from clinical practice guidelines were used to structure the PRP. Communication competency was assessed with the Korean Version of the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (KSE-12). Whether this training helped to achieve graduate outcomes was evaluated on a five-point scale. Results: Fifty-nine students (53.2%) participated in the survey. Among 12 items on the KSE-12, the score for "How certain are you that you are able to successfully listen attentively to the patient?" was the highest. Further, PRP was found to be helpful for self-directed learning, establishment of one's professional identity, and the ability to communicate and manage patients. Three themes ("Benefits of role-play", "The importance of positive feedback", "Limitations and problems of role-play"), 15 categories, and 16 central meanings were derived by categorizing learners' subjective opinions about PRP. Conclusions: Study findings indicate that PRP may contribute to improving communication skills and establishing a professional identity for future Korean medicine doctors. We suggest using PRP in clinical education in colleges of Korean Medicine.
본 논문은 P2P(Peer to Peer) IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) 서비스를 위한 세션 제어 모델을 제시하고, 제시된 모델에 근거한 IPTV 세션 제어 절차에 대해 논한다. 본 논문의 P2P IPTV 세션 제어 모델은 상호 연동성(Inter-operability)이 보장되는 P2P IPTV 플랫폼의 조기 구축에 기여할 수 있도록 표준 SIP(Session Initiation Protocol), IGMP(Internet Group Management Protocol), 그리고 COPS(Common Open Policy Service) 프로토콜에 근거하여 설계되었다.
Objective: This study examined the relations between maternal meta-emotion philosophy, child interpersonal problem solving, and peer competence among children aged 4-5 and their mothers and teachers. Methods: A total of 54 children from 24 kindergartens were assessed on their interpersonal problem solving and peer competence. Their mothers reported on meta-emotion philosophy. Their teachers were assessed on child peer competence. Results: The major findings of this study were as follows. First, maternal meta-emotion philosophy, child interpersonal problem solving, and child peer competence showed positive correlation patterns. Second, child interpersonal problem solving and peer competence was found to be influenced by maternal child-directed meta-emotion philosophy but not by maternal self-directed meta-emotion philosophy. Conclusion: Findings highlight the importance of maternal meta-emotion philosophy and that their emotion socialization play a significant role in identifying the mechanisms leading to child social cognitive ability and social adjustment. Furthermore, these results could lead to important basic studies in developing parent/teacher education programs.
The main purpose of this study was to examine pathways from interparental conflict to adolescents' problem behavior through maternal support and control and/or quality of peer relationship. A sample of 340 high school students (166 boys and 174 girls) in Incheon completed questionnaires on interparental conflict, maternal support and control, quality of peer relationship, and problem behavior. Data were analyzed by means of structural equation modeling. The results demonstrated that interparental conflict had a direct influence in both internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors, indicating that adolescents who perceived higher levels of interparental conflict had more problem behaviors. Regarding pathways from interparental conflict to problem behavior through maternal support and control and/or quality of peer relationships, adolescents perceiving higher levels of interparental conflict reported higher maternal psychological control and lower support and behavioral control. This was followed by a lower level of quality in terms of their peer relationships; the lower quality of peer relationships resulted in more adolescent problem behaviors. These results indicate that interparental conflict and maternal support and control play crucial roles in the development of internalizing and externalizing problem behavior, respectively.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of toddler's temperament and toddler-teacher relationship on their peer interaction, focusing on gender differences. A total of 221 toddlers(122 boys and 99 girls) attending 16 child care centers in South Korea participated in this study. Each toddler was observed during a free-play period in the classroom over 4 sessions of 5 minutes, so a total of 20 minutes was measured. Two observers scored recorded observation scenes with two peer interaction criteria, including interaction initiation and interaction participation level. The main results of this study are as follows: First, there was a signigicant gender difference in peer interaction and toddler's temperament and toddler-teacher relationship. Second, the factor of toddler-teacher relationship significantly predicted the boys' peer interaction, while for the girls, the significant predictor was intentional control of temperamental factors. Further, implications for different approaches according to the gender difference of the affecting factor on toddlers' peer interaction have been discussed.
This study clarified the maintenance of relationship between children and teachers based on longitudinal data and explored the latent classes. It clarified the latent classes connection with the children's peer play interaction. The subjects of this study were 194 children (aged 3) who attended 11 different kindergartens and daycare centers. We collected data three times (once every 6 months) until they reached age 4. The results of this study were: first, closeness, conflict, and dependence of child-teacher relationship that showed a continuous short-term connection. Second, we classified the child-teacher relationship into three groups according to longitudinal data. Those groups were, 'low level maintenance group' which had the lowest conflict and dependence compared to the highest closeness with teacher, 'middle level maintenance group' which had the teacher relationship in the middle level of the sub element area, and 'high level maintenance group' which showed high conflict and dependence compared to low closeness with the teacher. Third, the group which maintains a longitudinal high conflict.dependence showed more interruption and disruption behavior than the group which maintained a low conflict and dependence. In conclusion, the child-teacher relationship seemed to be the steady characteristic because it showed the early formation of a stable relationship. It was possible to predict the child's peer interaction through an early child-teacher relationship. Teachers need to be educated by the kindergarten and daily care center because the early formation of a child-teacher relationship can be the foundation of child's later peer and teacher relationships.
