Investigation of bonding properties of Al/Cu bimetallic laminates fabricated by the asymmetric roll bonding techniques

  • In this study, 2-mm Al/Cu bimetallic laminates were produced using asymmetric roll bonding (RB) process. The asymmetric RB process was carried out with thickness reduction ratios of 10%, 20% and 30% and mismatch rolling speeds 1:1, 1:1.1 and 1:1.2, separately. For various experimental conditions, finite element simulation was used to model the deformation of bimetallic Al/Cu laminates. Specific attention was focused on the bonding strength and bonding quality of the interface between Al and Cu layers in the simulation and experiment. The optimization of mismatch rolling speed ratios was obtained for the improvement of the bond strength of bimetallic laminates during the asymmetric RB process. During the finite element simulation, the plastic strain of samples was found to reach the maximum value with a high quality bond for the samples produced with mismatch rolling speed 1:1.2. Moreover, the peeling surfaces of samples around the interface of laminates after the peeling test were studied to investigate the bonding quality by scanning electron microscopy.

  • Flexural test and parametric study by FEM analysis on 6.0m long reinforced concrete beams strengthened by GFRP are reported in these tests. The selected variables are strengthened plate length, plate thickness. The effects of these variables are discussed. The results generally indicate that the flexural strength of strengthened beams is increased. The results of FEM analysis show that the more strengthening GFRP is the more stress of GFRP is decrease when failure mode is peeling failure.

Development of An Onion Peeler ( II ) - Air injection type peeling equipment - (양파 박피기 개발 (II) - 공기분사식 박피장치 -)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the optimum operating conditions of the air injection type onion peeling device which could be attached to a prototype onion peeler. An onion, stem and root was cut and some vertical line was dug in 1 mm depth on the skin, was put on the two parallel rollers. The diameters of the rollers were 105 mm and the ratio of peripheral velocity was 3:2, and moved by a geared motor. Air from the nozzle with high pressure and velocity was jetted to the rotating onion on the revolving rollers, and then the skin of the onion was stripped. On the test, the rolling characteristics of the experimental materials were measured. The effective peeling conditions were, the number of digging line on the skin of the onion was 4, and the air jet pressure was above 392.3 kPa(4.0 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) when the peripheral velocity was at 2.4 m/s. On these conditions, time requirement to peel an onion was less than 2 sec.

  • Now many sustitution and false articles is used in korea instead of shanyao. To use shanyao correctly, we will make a quilitative certificational plan of shanyao to investigate all of lieraturea, records and documents. And we could reach conclusions as folloews. 1) Source About a source of shanyao, though korea and china has a each other source, we think there is no problem in use of both. 2) Process In our country producing shanyao as medical use is a 'duanma', we can divide into peeling and non-peeling, drying at bulks and at briquets, steaming shanyao and fresh shanyao. Regardless of existence for peeling and steaming, a distributing shanyao is received a proper judgment. Like this result was expressed by insufficiency of standards about medical components or indicating components. We detected a reminding S02 more than 10 ppm. And this expresses that there ia a problum at a drying method. To suggest proper processing methods, a standard of quility will have to be made which the existence of peeling, difference of quility between 'changma' and 'duanma', drying method and exudation test with cutted thickness are adaptable. Besides, 'maoshanyao' and 'guangshanyao' of china is processed by various methods which decrease a medical effect such as too much soaking shanyao in water, steaming with a sulfur, too much peeling, So we must process shanyao like the next methods. (1) When harvesting, dig deeply not to cut off roots. (2) Not to peel, wash shanyao in a washing machine. (3) Dry to 50-60% degree at sunny place or drying machine. (4) To be easy for drying and exudation, cut off a thick piece with 5 mm (5) Dry perfectly at ding machine. 3) Quality3) Quality (1) Functional standards It is not Proper that 'guangshanyao' is used in china because it has a problem with quility on process of working, If they did not soak shanyao in water or heat with steam, it is the real situation that they cannot cutt off shanyao evenly. In conclusion, shanyao must be heavy, powdery with a perfectly non-peeling surface, section surface is yellow-white color, unequal and has no holes. (2) Physicochemical standards It is the real situation that we can not distinguish into quility of shanyao with established test because various workings which decrease medical effects is used. Therefore we suggest a testing standard of S02 which is used in bleaching. And testing standards relatived with decrease of medical effects must be established at once. It must that Dry on loss is less than 14.0%, content of ash is less than 6.0%. Content of acid-nonsoluble ash is less than 0.5%. Contens of heavy metal has to detect less than 30 ppm and there is no reminding agricultural medince.

Effect of Ripening and Peeling Methods on Composition and Quality of Canned Freestone Peaches

  • Fay Elberta freestone peaches were harvested at four maturity levels as judged by skin color and firmness. They were ripened at $68^{\circ}F$ under 80 percent relative humidity for 4, 6, 8 and 10 days respectively prior to canning. Results indicate that both harvest maturity and ripening conditions are important factors influencing quality, flavor and composition of canned freestone peaches. Peaches harvested at $18{\sim}24$ pounds on a Magness-Taylor pressure tester with a 7/16' plunger(M1) failed to ripen satisfactorily. Fruits harvested at $13{\sim}17$ pounds (M2) pressure test ripened successfully at $68^{\circ}F$ within 6 to 8 days; and those harvested at 6 to 12 pounds (M3) needed 4 days for ripening at $68^{\circ}F$. Tree-ripened fruits (M4) were undesirable for canning because of the high percentage of bruised fruits. The optimum firmness for canning appears to be in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 pounds. The titratable acidity of peaches decreased during maturation and ripening. The tannin content of peaches at M1 maturity decreased with ripening at $68^{\circ}F$. But no appreciable change was observed in the M2 and M3 series which were ripened at $68^{\circ}F$ for 4 to 10 days. The volatile reducing substances (V.R.S.) increased as the peaches developed on the tree and also during post-harvest ripening. The effect of harvest maturity and post-harvest ripening on color grade of the canned peaches is presented. Little difference was found in the flavor and composition of peaches peeled by the cup-down lye peeling and the steam-peeling methods. The cup-down lye-peeling method might be most advantageous because of its higher peeling efficiency.

Effects of Film Stack Structure and Peeling Rate on the Peel Strength of Screen-printed Ag/Polyimide (박막 적층 구조 및 필링 속도가 스크린 프린팅 Ag/Polyimide 사이의 필 강도에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of film stack structure and peeling rate on the peel strength of screen-printed (SP) Ag/polyimide (PI) systems were investigated by a 90° peel test. When PI film was peeled at PI/SP-Ag and PI/SP-Ag/electroplated (EP) Cu structures, the peel strength was nearly constant regardless of the peeling rate. When EP Cu was peeled at EP Cu/SP-Ag/PI structure, the peel strength continuously increased as peeling rate increased. Considering uniaxial tensile test results of EP Cu/SP-Ag film with respect to loading rate, the increase of 90° plastic bending energy and peel strength was attributed to increased flow stress and toughness. On the other hand, viscoelastic PI film showed little variation of flow stress and toughness with respect to loading rate, which was assumed to result in nearly constant 90° plastic bending energy and peel strength.

  • This study is mainly about materials that are used in Sungnyemun gate's dancheong to find causes of dancheong's damage such as desquamation and peeling off. 12 kinds of pigments' components which are used in dancheoong are analyzed. Except for Hobun and Seokganju, the pigments are artificial. Samples are made with different conditions of adhesives and the rate of binder. To estimate promotion weathering test, adhesives are applied in a different order. Desquamation and peeling off presented especially when different adhesives are used on dancheong and also, generally the layer thickened.

PVC and POM gripping mechanisms for tension testing of FRP bars

  • The present study pertains to the introduction of two new types of grip adaptor for universal testing machines, namely Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Polyoxymethylene (POM) grip adaptors, and their application to tension testing of FRP bars with different fiber and surface finish types. The tabs are connected to the FRP bar sample with the help of mechanical anchors, i.e. bolts. These new adaptors offer vital superiorities over the existing end tab designs (anchors with filling material or mechanical anchorage), including the reduction in the time and labor for production, reusability and the mild nature, i.e. low hardness of the tab material, which retards and even prevents peeling and crushing in the gripping regions of an FRP sample. The methods were successfully applied to FRP bars with different types of fiber (CFRP, GFRP and BFRP) and different types of surface texture (ribbed, wrapped, sand-coated and wound). The test results indicated that the both types of end caps prevented slip of the bar, crushing and peeling in the gripping zone. The mechanical properties from the material tests with the new caps were in perfect agreement with the ones from the material tests with steel tubular caps.

The Peeling Effect on the Natural Seasoning of Pitch Pine Log (리기다소나무 조재목(造材木)의 천연건조(天然乾燥)에 미치는 박피처리(剝皮處理)의 효과(効果))

  • This experiment was carried out to study the peeling effect affecting to the natural seasoning by the treatments such as complete peeling, outer bark peeling (attached inner bark) and non peeling for the logs felled in summer and winter season in the stand of about 40 years old pitch pine, located in Kwangyang College Forest, Chollanam-do, Korea. According to the results this study may be concluded as followings. 1. Although the complete peeled logs are seasoned rapidly as compared with the outer barked and non peeled logs but they are more developed seasonal checking. 2. As to the drying effects of the logs felled in summer season, the difference between complete peeled and outer barked or non peeled logs are recognized. Whereas, the difference between outer barked and non peeled logs was not recognized. 3. As to the drying effects of the test logs felled in winter season the difference between complete peeled and outer barked logs were not shown, whereas, the difference between complete peeled or outer barked, and non peeled logs was significantly recognized. Accordingly it is considered that the drying effect of outer barked logs is same with those of complete peeled logs. 4. In this experiment it is expected that the complete peeled logs of summer season felling, and complete peeled or outer barked logs of winter season felling were attained equilibrium moisture contents within four months.

  • Global warming is accelerating due to the use of fossil fuels that have been used continuously for centuries. Now, humankind recognizes its seriousness, and is conducting research on searching for eco-friendly and sustainable energy. In the field of solar energy, which is a kind of eco-friendly and sustainable, many studies are being conducted to enhance the output performance of the module. In this study, the output improvement for the shingled module structure was studied. In order to improve the output performance of the module, the thickness of the encapsulant was increased, and the lamination process conditions have been improved accordingly. After that, the crosslinking rate was analyzed, and the suitability of the lamination process conditions was judged using this. In addition, a peeling test was conducted to analyze the correlation between the adhesion of the encapsulant and the output performance of the module. Finally, the optimization for the encapsulant material and the lamination process conditions for high-power shingled modules was established, and accordingly, the market share of high-power shingled modules in the solar module market can be expected to rise.
