This study was conducted to investigate experimentally the effect of track tension on the tractive performance of rice combine. The experiment was carried out at the two in-door soil bins with soil types of loam and sandy loam. The initial track tension was varied by three different values of 0.71, 1.75 and 3.84kN at three different forward velocity settings of 0.17, 0.32 and 0.45m/s, respectively. The data acquisition system was designed and used for the measurement of pull, driving axle torque and its velocity under the test conditions to calculate the tractive efficiency. Results of the study were summarized as follows : 1) The effect of the initial track tension on the tractive efficiency was found being significantly dependent on soil types but not on forward velocities. Therefore, the benifit of adjusting the initial track tension may be obtained when the types of soils on which combines operate are changed. 2) In loam, tractive efficiency decreased with increase in track tension. However, it increased in sandy loam until it reached to a peak value and then decreased with increase in track tension. 3) The maximum tractive efficiency of the tested combine was obtained with an initial track tension of about 1.75kN on sandy loam, and below that on loam at about 5% slippage without being noticeably influenced by the forward velocity.
To examine the blood lipids, muscle strength and flexibility at low back, and muscle strength in the knee joint, 44 women, who were diagnosed as chronic low back pain patients and aged between 40 to 50 years old, were recruited as the subjects. The women were divided into two groups: 1) body fat content less than 25% and 2) body fat content more than 30%. The results were: 1) No differences were found between two groups in blood lipids status. 2) The total cholesterol were less 3.78% in the normal group than the obese group. 3) The HDL-cholesterol were higher 4.85% in the normal group than the obese group. 4) The TG were less 13.1% in the normal group than the obese group. 5) No differences were found between two groups in muscle strength and flexibility 6) No differences were found between two groups in the peak torque of knee joint 7) The total work of the knee joints were higher in the normal group than the obese(P<.05). 8) The abdominal strength were higher 34.04% in the normal group than the obese group. 9) The flexibility of low back were higher 44.54% in the normal group than the obese group.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of open and close kinetic chain exercise on the muscle activity of pectoralis major and triceps. Method: Twenty healthy male college students were assessed three times over two weeks. The participants were randomly assigned to OKCE(Open Kinetic Chain Exercise) and CKCE(Close Kinetic Chain Exercise). On the first day, the 7th day and the last day, The MP(mean power) and PT(peak torque) of the PM(pectoralis major) and TR(triceps) during the exercise were measured with an electromyography device and the study was compared. Result: In the present study, it was found that Statistical analysis of the measured values at the end of experimental period revealed statistically significant differences in the MP and PT values of TR and PM. Conclusion: These findings suggest that CKCE and OKCE may be an effective physical therapy intervention for strengthening muscular activity in patients with low activity in the upper limb, including normal subjects, although it is not suitable for effective exercise by selecting either CKCE or OKCE.

The purpose of this study is to examine the changes on lumbar muscle strength in relation to 12-week pilates mat exercise of elderly women. The participants are chosen for 17 people who is an experimental group and 14 people who is an comparison group who except wastage and pilates mat exercise program was gradually intensify applied three times a week, during 12 weeks. The peak torque of flexion was increased(p<.01) and the difference of ratio of agonist to antagonist was decreased(p<.001). The total work of flexion and extension had significant increased(p<.001) at $120^{\circ}/sec$. As a result of all these, it was judged as positive effect for body composition, basal physical fitness and lumbar muscle strength after pilates mat exercise in 12 weeks. These positive effects showed that pilates mat exercise could got conclusions that mitigated the musculoskelctal disorders, slow down the progress of disorders, helped as a functions of physical.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of resting periods between exercise sets during isokinetic contraction on recovery from muscle fatigue, strength, heart rate, blood pressure, and lactate level. Sixteen women performed 10 repetitions of isokinetic exercise for three sets in three different conditions. During the sets, they rested 50, 100, and 150 seconds in each condition. And the results were: 1) In this population, the peak torque of extensor during the isokinetic exercise in 100 second resting condition was significantly higher than that in 50 and 150 second resting conditions (p<.01). The total work of extensor was significant in the second and third sets in 50 and 100 second resting conditions (p<.01). 2) During the isokinetic exercise, the heart rate was progressively increased as the sets were advanced in all resting conditions (p<.01). And the increase was significant during the second and third sets than the first in 50 second resting condition (p<.01), while it was significantly greater after the third set than the first in 100 and 150 second resting conditions (p<.01). 4) No difference was found between the resting periods in blood lactate level and blood pressure during the isokinetic exercise. However, differences were found between the sets in these variables (p<.01).

Energy dissipation devices can be considered as an alternative for the seismic performance enhancement of existing structures based on the strengthened seismic design code. In this study, seismic response mitigation effects of friction dampers are investigated through the shaking table test of a full scale 3 story building structure. Frist, the bilinear force-displacement relationship of a structure-brace-friction damper system and the effect of brace-friction damper on the increase of frequency and damping ratio are identified. Second, frequency, displacement, and torque dependent characteristics of the friction damper are investigated by using harmonic load excitation tests. Finally, the shaking table tests are performed for a full scale 3 story steel frame. System identification results using random signal excitation indicated that brace-friction damper increased structural damping ratio and frequency, and El Centro earthquake test showed that brace-friction damper reduced the peak displacement and acceleration significantly. In particular, it was observed that the damping effect due to friction damper becomed obvious when the structure was excited by more intensive load causing frequent slippage of the friction dampers.
The flow and noise characteristics of wake behind wind-turbine blades have been investigated experimentally using a two-frame particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. Experiments were carried out in a POSTECH subsonic large wind-tunnel ($1.8^W{\times}1.5^H{\times}4.3^L\;m^3$) with KBP-750D (3-blade type) wind-turbine model at a freestream velocity of $U_o\;=\;15\;m/s$ and a tip speed ratio $\lambda\;=\;6.14$ (2933 rpm). The wind-turbine blades are connected to an AC servo motor, brake, encoder and torque meter to control the rotational speed and to extract a synchronization signal for PIV measurements. The wake flow was measured at four azimuth angles ($\phi\;=\;0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$) of the wind-turbine blade. The dominant flow structure of the wake is large-scale tip vortices. The turbulent statistics such as turbulent intensity are weakened as the flow goes downstream due to turbulent dissipation. The dominant peak frequency of the noise signal is identical to the rotation frequency of blades. The noise seems to be mainly induced by the tip vortices.
Analysis of load data during field operations is highly important for optimum design of power drive lines for agricultural tractor. Objective of the paper was to analyze field load data using FFT to determine frequency and the energy levels of meaningful cyclic patterns. Rotary tillage, plowing, baling, and wrapping operations were selected as major field operations of agricultural tractor. An agricultural tractor with power measurement system was used. The tractor was equipped with strain-gauge sensors to measure torque of four driving axles and a PTO axle, speed sensors to measure rotational speed of the driving axles and an engine shaft, pressure sensors to measure pressure of hydraulic pumps, an I/O interface to acquire the sensor signals, and an embedded system to calculate power requirement. In rotary tillage, calculated frequency was decreased as travel speed increased. In baler operation, calculated frequency was increased as PTO speed was increased. The calculated peak frequency levels and expected levels were similar. Results of the study would provide information on power utilization patterns and on better design of power drive lines.
