The Korea Maritime Environment Corporation is conducting a comprehensive survey of the national marine ecosystem under the commission of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) to ensure continuous use of the ocean, preserve and manage the marine ecosystem. The survey has set major peaks to investigate changes in the marine ecosystem around the Korean Peninsula. However as the peak has been set around the coast, it is necessary to expand the scope of investigation to encompass offshore areas. Meanwhile, the Aids to Navigation Division of the MOF supports a comprehensive national marine ecosystem survey providing photographs of fouling organisms during the Aids to Navigation lifting inspection, however, the photographs are provided only in consultation with the Korea Maritime Environment Corporation. Therefore, a study was conducted to generate information on fouling organisms using deep learning-based image processing algorithms by the lifting Aids to Navigation and dorsal buoys so that Aids to Navigation could be used as the major component of a comprehensive national marine ecosystem. If the Aids to Navigation are used as the peak of the survey, they could serve as fundamental data to enhance their own value as well as analyze abnormal marine conditions and ecosystem changes in Korea.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is widely used as a multiple access technique for next generation mobile communication systems, however, its main drawback is the high peak-to-average ratio (PAPR). Thus for the uplink case where the transmit power is strictly limited due to the battery life of mobile units, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) with low PAPR is preferred to OFDMA method. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of SC-FDMA using frequency domain MMSE equalization. The proposed improved log-likelihood ratio (LLR) generation method exploits both the diversity characteristic of channels and the reciprocity that is obtained from the received signals. The complexity of the proposed method is analyzed and its performance gain is demonstrated via a set of computer simulations.
PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of asphalt and geotextile interlayer on the fracture behavior of unbonded concrete overlay through a laboratory composite beam test. METHODS : In order to evaluate the effect of interlayer materials on the fracture behavior of unbonded concrete overlay, a laboratory test of composite beam was conducted with different types of interlayer. The test results of the composite beam using two types of geotextile interlayer with different thicknesses were compared to the test results of the composite beam using the tradition type of asphalt interlayer. The unbonded concrete overlay on the existing concrete pavement without interlayer was set for the control condition. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION : Overall, the laboratory composite beam test results did show the effect of asphalt and geotextile interlayer on the fracture behavior of composite concrete beams. The three-layer geotextile interlayer and HMA layer both increase the peak load when the first macrocrack occurs in the top concrete beam, while the HMA interlayer causes the smallest load drop percentage after the first macrocrack. The three-layer geotextile did show better performance than the single-layer geotextile through the greater peak load and smaller load drop percentage. It indicates that the thickness of geotextile interlayer will affect the fracture behavior of unbonded concrete overlay and the thicker geotextile interlayer is recommended.

High PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio) is a major drawback of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signals. In this paper, a modified SLM (selective mapping) technique that uses erasure decoding of RS (Reed-Solomon) codes is presented. At the transmitter a set of phase sequences are multiplied such that some portions of check symbols in RS-coded OFDM data blocks are phase-rotated. At the receiver, RS decoding is performed with the phase-rotated check symbols being treated as erasures. Hence, there is no need to send side information about the phase sequence selected to transmit for the lowest PAPR. In addition, the estimation process for the selected phase sequence is no longer needed at the receiver, leading to improvement in terms of complexity and performance. To evaluate the performance of this technique, the CCDF (complementary cumulative distribution function) of PAPR, the BER (bit error rate) and the decoding failure probability are compared with those of the previous SLM techniques.

This paper presents solution heuristics to solving optimal multiple-viewpoint location problems that are based on topographic features. The visibility problem is to maximise the viewshed area for a set of viewpoints on digital elevation models (DEM). For this analysis, five areas are selected, and fundamental topographic features (peak, pass, and pit) are extracted from the DEMs of the study areas. To solve the visibility problem, at first, solution approaches based on the characteristics of the topographic features are explored, and then, a benchmark test is undertaken that solution performances of the solution methods, such as computing times, and visible area sizes, are compared with the performances of traditional spatial heuristics. The feasibility of the solution methods, then, are discussed with the benchmark test results. From the analysis, this paper can conclude that fundamental topographic features based solution methods suggest a new sight of visibility analysis approach which did not discuss in traditional algorithmic approaches. Finally, further research avenues are suggested such as exploring more sophisticated selection process of topographic features related to visibility analysis, exploiting systematic methods to extract topographic features, and robust spatial analytical techniques and optimization techniques that enable to use the topographic features effectively.

Nanotechnology mostly employs nano-materials and nano-structures with distinctive properties based on their size, structure, and composition. It is quite difficult to produce nano-materials and nano-structures with identical sizes, structures, and compositions in large quantities, because of spatiotemporal fluctuation of production processes. In other words, fluctuation is the bottleneck in nanotechnology. We propose three strategies to suppress such fluctuations: employing 1) difference between linear and nonlinear phenomena, 2) difference in time constants, and 3) nucleation as a bottleneck phenomenon. We are also developing nano- and micro-scale guided assembly using plasmas as a plasma nanofabrication.1-5) We manipulate nano- and micro-objects using electrostatic, electromagnetic, ion drag, neutral drag, and optical forces. The accuracy of positioning the objects depends on fluctuation of position and energy of an object in plasmas. Here we evaluate such fluctuations and discuss the mechanism behind them. We conducted in-situ evaluation of local plasma potential fluctuation using tracking analysis of fine particles (=objects) in plasmas. Experiments were carried out with a radio frequency low-pressure plasma reactor, where we set two quartz windows at the top and bottom of the reactor. Ar plasmas were generated at 200 Pa by applying 13.56MHz, 450V peak-to-peak voltage. The injected fine particles were monodisperse methyl methacrylate-polymer spheres of $10{\mu}m$ in diameter. Fine particles were injected into the reactor and were suspended around the plasma/sheath boundary near the powered electrode. We observed binary collision of fine particles with a high-speed camera. The frame rate was 1000-10000 fps. Time evolution of their distance from the center of mass was measured by tracking analysis of the two particles. Kinetic energy during the collision was obtained from the result. Potential energy formed between the two particles was deduced by assuming the potential energy plus the kinetic energy is constant. The interaction potential is fluctuated during the collision. Maximum amplitude of the fluctuation is 25eV, and the average is 8eV. The fluctuation can be caused by neutral molecule collisions, ion collisions, and fluctuation of electrostatic force. Among theses possible causes, fluctuation of electrostatic force may be main one, because the fine particle has a large negative charge of -17000e and the corresponding electrostatic force is large compared to other forces.

The Horizon Run 4 is a cosmological N-body simulation designed for the study of coupled evolution between galaxies and large-scale structures of the Universe, and for the test of galaxy formation models. Using 63003 gravitating particles in a cubic box of Lbox = 3150 h−1Mpc, we build a dense forest of halo merger trees to trace the halo merger history with a halo mass resolution scale down to Ms = 2.7 × 1011h−1M⊙. We build a set of particle and halo data, which can serve as testbeds for comparison of cosmological models and gravitational theories with observations. We find that the FoF halo mass function shows a substantial deviation from the universal form with tangible redshift evolution of amplitude and shape. At higher redshifts, the amplitude of the mass function is lower, and the functional form is shifted toward larger values of ln(1/σ). We also find that the baryonic acoustic oscillation feature in the two-point correlation function of mock galaxies becomes broader with a peak position moving to smaller scales and the peak amplitude decreasing for increasing directional cosine μ compared to the linear predictions. From the halo merger trees built from halo data at 75 redshifts, we measure the half-mass epoch of halos and find that less massive halos tend to reach half of their current mass at higher redshifts. Simulation outputs including snapshot data, past lightcone space data, and halo merger data are available at http://sdss.kias.re.kr/astro/Horizon-Run4.

This paper describes the modeling of work environment for the extraction of abstract operation rules for cooperative work with multiple agent. We propose the modeling method using a potential field. In the method, it is applied to a box pushing problem, which is to move a box from a start to a goal b multiple agent. The agents follow the potential value when they move and work in the work environment. The work environment is represented as the grid space. The potential field is generated by Genetic Algorithm(GA) for each agent. GA explores the positions of a potential peak value in the grid space, and then the potential value stretching in the grid space is spread by a potential diffusion function in each grid. However it is difficult to explore suitable setting using hand coding of the position of peak potential value. Thus, we use an evlolutionary computation way because it is possible to explore the large search space. So we make experiments the environment modeling using the proposed method and verify the performance of the exploration by GA. And we classify some types from acquired the environment model and extract the abstract operation rule, As results, we find out some types of the environment models and operation rules by the observation, and the performance of GA exploration is almost same as the hand coding set because these are nearly same performance on the evaluation of the consumption of agent's energy and the work step from point to the goal point.

In this paper, we introduce a new partial transmit sequence (PTS) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme with low computational complexity. In the proposed scheme, $2^n$-point inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) is divided into two parts. An input symbol sequence is partially transformed using the first l stages of IFFT into an intermediate signal sequence and the intermediate signal sequence is partitioned into a number of intermediate signal subsequences. Then, the remaining n - l stages of IFFT are applied to each of the intermediate signal subsequences and the resulting signal subsequences are summed after being multiplied by each member of a set of W rotating vectors to yield W distinct OFDM signal sequences. The one with the lowest peak to average power ratio (PAPR) among these OFDM signal sequences is selected for transmission. The new PTS OFDM scheme reduces the computational complexity while it shows almost the same performance of PAPR reduction as that of the conventional PTS OFDM scheme.
ZnS thin films were deposited with the radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique at various temperatures and sputtering powers. With the increase in the deposition temperature and the decrease in the radio frequency sputtering power, the crystallinity was increased and the surface roughness was decreased, which lead to the decrease in the electrical resistivity of the film. It is also clearly observed that, the intensity of the (111) XRD peak increases with increasing the substrate temperature. On the other hand, as seen in the FWHM decreased with increasing the substrate temperature. Since the FWHM of the (111) diffraction peak is inversely properties to the grain size of the film, then grain size of ZnS thin film increases with increasing the substrate temperature. The electrical resistivity and optical transmittance of the ZnS film as a function of the post-annealing temperature. It can be seen that with the annealing temperature set at $400^{\circ}C$, the resistivity decreases to a minimum value of $2.1{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}cm$ and the transmittance increases to a maximum value of 80% of the ZnS film.
