  • It has been reported that tight sportswear could have complicated influence on physiological function of human body. The purpose of this present study was to investigate the effect of wearing gradient compression tights (GCT) on muscle strength and EMG activity during repeated isokinetic muscle contractions. Four healthy male undergraduate students performed maximal voluntary isokinetic concentric muscle contractions on biomechanical test and training systems with GCT and loose pants as control (Cont) respectively. During each test, the peak torque of extensor and flexor contractions and the surface electromyography (sEMG) of the rectus femoris and medial gastrocnemius was recorded simultaneously, the peak torque was recorded as an indicator of muscle strength, and the average amplitude and mean power frequency of sEMG were calculated as indicators of EMG activity. The results showed that: the peak torque decreased gradually during continuous muscle contractions both when the Cont and GCT were worn, average sEMG and mean power frequency declined along with the repetitions of muscle contractions for both wearing conditions, and the change tendency was consistence with that of peak torque. There was no obvious difference between the peak torque recorded wearing the Cont or wearing GCT, but when GCT were worn, average sEMG was lower and mean power frequency was higher than the Cont condition. In 24 samples obtained from four subjects, 80% of results showed the same trend. So we could make a conclusion that wearing GCT had no obvious effect on the improvement of muscle strength, but it would affect the EMG activity positivly.

  • Parametric study on submerged body shape of an oscillating hemisphere point absorber was conducted to predict the optimal relation between radius and draft of the body. As an additional damping due to power takeoff system, the optimal damping same as wave radiation damping was applied to the PTO system to produce the maximum wave power. Body response spectrum and power spectrum were obtained for various peak frequencies on wave spectra. It was found that the maximum power can be generated when the peak frequency of available wave power was 20% greater than that of wave spectrum.

  • Recently due to the increasing of the importance on the green energy is getting higher by implementing EERS(Energy Efficiency Resource Standards) and NA(Negotiated Agreement) such as lacks of natural resources and The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. And the most practical solution is CHP(Combined Heat and Power) which performs the best energy efficiency. This paper developed optimal operation mechanism of CES(Community Energy System) for enhancement of energy efficiency using CHP(Combined Heat and Power), PLB(Peak Load Boiler) and ACC(ACCumulator) capacities. This method optimally operated these capacities calculated the maximum profits by Dynamic Programing. Through the case studies, it is verified that the proposed algorithm of can evaluate availability.

  • We revisit the 1.3-year (yr) signals observed on the Sun, in the interplanetary space, and in the Earth's magnetosphere to study the coupling among signals from the three regions for about forty years (1970--2007) covering three solar cycles 21, 22, and 23. For this, we make dynamic spectra of datasets including three different regions. From this, we estimate the peak frequency around 1.3 yr for each region and the corresponding band power. We found that coherent power only appears during 1987-1995 and the coherent behavior is found only in the interplanetary space and Earth, not in the Sun. Although the solar surface magnetic field shows significant power around 1.3 yr, their peak frequencies are statistically different from those of the outer regions, which make us to dismiss the existence of coherence among the three regions. But it is notable that the peaks in band power corresponding to the 1.3-yr period are clearly simultaneous in the interplanetary space and Earth.

  • In this paper, an alternative method which can evaluate a marginal power exceeding yearly peak load for each load bus is proposed. The proportion of the marginal power to yearly peak load for each load bus is defined as Local Marginal Power Rate (LMPR). Furthermore, the composite system is separated base on the LMPR. The bottleneck facilities could be found, while the LMPR is estimated. Then, it is possible to provide information concerning improvement in the system reliability by bottleneck facilities. The IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a series arc fault detection algorithm which incorporates peak voltage and harmonic current detectors for single-phase boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifiers. The series arc fault model is also proposed to analyze the phenomenon of the arc fault and detection algorithm. For arc detection, the virtual dq transformation is utilized to detect the peak input voltage. In addition, multiple combinations of low- and high-pass filters are applied to extract the specific harmonic components which show the characteristics of the series arc fault conditions. The proposed model and the arc detection method are experimentally verified through a boost PFC rectifier prototype operating under the grid-tied condition with an artificial arc generator manufactured under the guidelines for the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1699 standard.

  • In this paper, a new peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction method for spatial modulation(SM) is presented. By using the matrix with all non-zero elements to precode the signals before transmitting, the transmit power is scattered over all transmit antennas for achieving the goal of PAPR reduction. If this matrix is also an unitary matrix, the distribution of transmit power over transmit antennas will be uniform and it also could retain the characteristic of avoiding inter channel interference (ICI) due to the orthogonality of unitary matrix. In case of a non-ideal amplifier, the proposed method can produce a considerable improvement that increases with a number of transmit antennas in performance. Furthermore, the new scheme achieves an identical performance with conventional one in the case of ideal amplifier.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the power consumption property of EVs(Electric Vehicles) chargers established in a public place, proposed reasonable demand factors by the number of established EV chargers and its control method in apartments. The optimization of power system and the suppression of the peak load can be controlled through the proposed demand factors and charging scheduling control algorithm. In this paper, electrical design and an case analysis were carried out on a sample apartment complex to prove the effectiveness of the power system. As a result, emergency power transformer capacity has been reduced by approximately 25%, and we have confirmed that the electric rates saving and the control of peak load value is possible.

  • The peak-power-tracking solar array regulator sensing the inductor current is proposed. Since it uses the inductor current as the solar array output power information, the PPT control scheme can be greatly simplified. The charge controlled two-loop scheme is presented to improve the dynamics due to the inductor current sensing. The comparison between the single-voltage loop controlled system and the two-loop controlled system employing the charge control is presented. This paper also contains the simulation results of that comparison.
