Use of GIS to Develop a Multivariate Habitat Model for the Leopard Cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) in Mountainous Region of Korea

  • A habitat model was developed to delineate potential habitat of the leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) in a mountainous region of Kangwon Province, Korea. Between 1997 and 2005, 224 leopard cat presence sites were recorded in the province in the Nationwide Survey on Natural Environments. Fifty percent of the sites were used to develop a habitat model, and the remaining sites were used to test the model. Fourteen environmental variables related to topographic features, water resources, vegetation and human disturbance were quantified for 112 of the leopard cat presence sites and an equal number of randomly selected sites. Statistical analyses (e.g., t-tests, and Pearson correlation analysis) showed that elevation, ridges, plains, % water cover, distance to water source, vegetated area, deciduous forest, coniferous forest, and distance to paved road differed significantly (P < 0.01) between presence and random sites. Stepwise logistic regression was used to develop a habitat model. Landform type (e.g., ridges vs. plains) is the major topographic factor affecting leopard cat presence. The species also appears to prefer deciduous forests and areas far from paved roads. The habitat map derived from the model correctly classified 93.75% of data from an independent sample of leopard cat presence sites, and the map at a regional scale showed that the cat's habitats are highly fragmented. Protection and restoration of connectivity of critical habitats should be implemented to preserve the leopard cat in mountainous regions of Korea.

추가 학습이 빈번히 필요한 비포장도로에서 주행로 탐색에 적합한 GLSL 기반 ALNN Algorithm (GLSL based Additional Learning Nearest Neighbor Algorithm suitable for Locating Unpaved Road)

  • 국방 분야에서 무인 차량의 주행로는 포장 도로 뿐만 아니라, 자주 다양한 변화를 갖는 야지의 비포장 도로 등이 포함된다. 이 무인 차량은 주로 험지나 오지에서 감시 및 정찰, 진지 방어 등을 수행하므로 자율 주행을 위해서 예측하지 못했던 다양한 주행로와 환경을 수시로 접하게 되며, 이에 따라 추가 학습이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 'Forgetting' 문제를 피하면서 거리 비교와 Class 비교를 통해 빠르게 추가 학습이 가능하도록 Approximate Nearest Neighbor를 수정한 GPU 기반 Additional Learning Nearest Neighbor(ALNN) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또 ALNN 알고리즘은 학습 데이터가 누적될수록 연산 속도가 저하되는 문제가 있고, 본 연구에서는 OpenGL Shading Language 기반의 GPU 병렬 처리를 사용하여 이를 해결하였다. ALNN 알고리즘은 기존의 학습 데이터에 영향을 주지 않으면서 빠르게 추가 학습이 가능하여, 빈번히 실시간으로 재학습이 필요한 국방 등의 분야에 활용될 수 있다.

Measurement and Analysis of Physical Environmental Load during Handling and Distribution of Domestic Fruits -Focused on Seongju Korean Melon

  • The proportion of agricultural products handled through the Agricultural Products Processing Center (APC) is also steadily increasing every year, and in the case of Seongju Korean melon, a total of 10 APCs of Nonghyup and farming association corporations are in operation, and the distribution ratio is about 60% based on total production. In this study, Seongju Korean melon was selected as a target to analyze the environment load during carrying (production farm ~ APC) in the production area and the transport environment load during distribution of domestic fruits, and to analyze the environmental load for handling at APC. The vertical average vibration intensity (overall Grms of 1~250 Hz) of truck transport measured at three transport routes from Seongju Korean melon producer ~ APC, Seongju ~ Seoul and Seongju ~ Jeju was about three times larger than that in the lateral direction and 4.5 times larger than that in the longitudinal direction, respectively. The frequency of occurrence of high-amplitude events (G) in the vertical direction compared to the measuring time was deeply related to pavement conditions in the order of unpaved farm-roads, concretepaved farm-roads, and asphalt-paved main-roads, but overall Grms for the entire frequency band is believed to have a greater impact on vehicle traveling speed than road conditions. On the other hand, the difference in the size and direction of the vibration intensity measured by the forklift truck's main-body and the attachment (fork carrier) during handling at Seongju Korean melon APC was clear, and the vibration intensity of the forklift truck's main-body was largely affected by the stiffness of the fork and the mast according to the handling weight. Based on the field-data of the transport environment during domestic distribution measured through this study, it is believed that it is possible to develop a lab-based simulation protocol for appropriate packaging design.

제주 생물권보전지역 내 한라산국립공원의 경관분석 : 단편화 현상 (Landscape Analysis of the Hallasan National Park in a Jeju Island Biosphere Reserve: Fragmentation Pattern)

  • 도로는 생태계를 교란시키는 인간 활동의 지표이며 흔히 서식지 단편화, 서식지 축소, 서식지 고립을 유발한다. 제주도의 한라산국립공원(면적=153.4$km^2$)은 지형, 지질, 생물상의 특이성이 높으며 유네스코 생물권보전지역(MAB)의 핵심지역으로도 중복 지정되어 있다. 공원의 이러한 높은 보전가치가 많은 탐방객과 도로건설을 유도하고 있음에도 불구하고 도로로 인한 경관의 변화는 거의 알려진 바가 없다. 본 연구에서는 GIS를 활용하여 한라산국립공원의 도로로 인한 서식지 단편화 양상을 공원 용도지구, 해발고도, 식생에 관련하여 분석하였다. 포장도로와 법정 비법정탐방로에 각각 112m, 60m 버퍼를 적용시킨 결과 한라산국립공원은 총 100개의 단편으로 나뉘었다. 포장도로와 법정탐방로만을 고려했을 때 드러난 10단편의 면적은 $0.002km^2-38.2km^2$(평균면적=14.2 $km^2$)에 이르렀고 자연보존지구와 자연환경 지구 모두에서 각기 약 7%가 가장자리로 판정되었다. 이들 단편의 형태지수 평균은 5.19(100단편 중), 7.22(10단편 중)이었지만 공원의 동서 양단과 정상부근에 있는 단편들의 형태지수가 보다 높았다. 5개의 법정탐방로가 모두 분화구까지 연결되어 있고 고도가 높아짐에 따라, 활엽수림, 침엽수림, 초지로 식생이 전환되기 때문에 높은 고도, 특히 고유식물과 고산식물이 많은 고도 1,400m이상의 초지에서 서식지 면적이 현저하게 감소했다. 이런 결과는 한라산국립 공원도 도로로 인한 서식지 단편화를 겪고 있으며, 단편화로 인한 서식지 악화와 서식지 소실의 위험이 공원의 자연환경 지구보다 한라산 정상의 백록담을 중심으로 하는 자연보존지구에서 더 높을 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 한라산국립공원의 현 도로망은 생태계 보전과 보호라는 국립공원의 목표에 부합하지 않는다고 사료된다. 한라산국립공원 전체가 또한 MAB 핵심지역임을 고려한다면, 공원 용도지구의 재설정과 단편화를 완화시키기 위한 공원 내 도로관리에 보전노력이 경주되어야 할 것이다.

대체 보조전극을 이용한 접지저항 측정 신뢰성 분석 (Trust Analysis of Ground Resistance Measurements by the Substitute Auxiliary Electrode)

  • This paper summarize about the auxiliary electrode measured a ground resistance. The method to measure a ground resistance is the fall-of-potential method to using an auxiliary electrode. And an auxiliary electrode must be set up on the ground. Today it is so difficult to set up the auxiliary electrode on the ground because of many concrete building and many paved roads. So this paper is regarding a trust analysis of the ground resistance measurement by the substitute auxiliary electrode. It substituted a iron structure around the building, a neutral line multiplex ground to earth, a wire net for auxiliary electrode. This information is confirmed bv compared with the measurement value.

Phase Difference Detector for Satellite Tracking Based on Field Experiments of COMETS

  • Nowadays, the tracking technology of Quadrant Detector will become actual by new micro devices. Based on the past filed data of the reception experiment with COMETS satellite, we have studied on new device (AD8302, phase difference detector) was acquired and suspect its abilities. In 1998, we have developed a Quadrant Detector for mobile to track a weak signal from satellite on Ka band of COMETS. The Quadrant Detector is comprised of four dedicated feed components for reception under an environment of Nakagami - Rician fading, and one transmission and reception feed component. We were successful in receiving a 23 GHz beacon signal from ICE transponder of the COMETS and succeeded in tracking the satellite from a moving vehicle at speeds of approximately 10 ~ 20 Km/h on paved roads. In 2018, with new device AD8302, we have verified new QD system and performed a simulation, based on the past filed experiment. This new device shall be improving the tracking abilities from mobile body on the earth to the multimedia satellite.

Performance Analysis of a Hydrodynamic Separator for Treating Particulate Pollutants in Highway Rainfall Runoff

  • This study examined the separation characteristics of particles in the rainfall runoff from paved roads using a ${\varphi}7.5$ cm hydrocyclone. The volume fraction and total suspended solids concentrations in the overflow and underflow from the hydrocyclone, as well as the separation efficiency were determined. The results indicated that the overflow volume increased with increasing operational pressure, but decreased with decreasing ratio of underflow outlet to inlet sizes ($D_u/D_i$), while the underflow to overflow volumes showed contrary behavior. The total suspended solid (TSS) concentration ratio between the overflow and inflow ($TSS_{over/in}$) decreased as a function of the operational pressure, while the corresponding ratio of underflow to inflow ($TSS_{under/in}$) increased. There was no visible difference in the $TSS_{over/in}$ with increasing $D_u/D_i$ ratio, but the $TSS_{under/in}$ decreased sharply. The particle removal efficiency was mainly affected by the particle size.

  • There are several kinds of driving conditions according to the characteristic of each vehicle diver. Automaker produces vehicle strong enough to satisfy this several driving conditions at the point of vehicle durability. In order to develop the car in a short period, Automaker engineer tests vehicle at serveral accelerated durability test roads. Before testing the vehicle durability, test engineer must know how much this test road severe than general field road which is composed of high way, city road, paved road and unpaved road. This paper suggests two types of road severity test method that is using relative fatigue life prediction method and using absolute fatigue life prediction method, and also present the merits and demerits of two test methods.

포장도로의 거칠기 변화에 대한 차량 연료소모량 변화율 (The Change Rate of Fuel Consumption for Different IRI of Paved Roads)

  • 높은 차량운행비용(VOC : Vehicle Operating Cost)은 포장도로 복구작업의 주요한 원인이고, 차량운행비용(VOC)은 연료소모량, 오일소모량, 부품교체비용 등으로 구성된다. 이중 연료소모량이 VOC에서 차지하는 비중이 높고, 다른 도로조건에 비해 도로 표면 거칠기가 도로의 노화 정도를 대표적으로 지시하는 값이기 때문에, 본 연구에서는 포장도로의 표면 거칠기(IRI : International Roughness Index) 변화에 따른 차량의 연료소모량 변화를 측정하였다. 차량의 연료분사 인젝터의 전압변화를 측정하여 연료소모량을 계산하였고, 속도는 GPS센서를 사용하여 측정하였다. 본 실험 결과를 이용하여 IRI 변화에 대한 연료소모량의 변화율을 계산할 수 있었다. 계산 결과, 40~100km/h 속도영역에서 중형 및 대형 승용차의 연료소모량(L/100km)은 3.5m/km 정도의 IRI 수준에서 IRI(m/lm) 증가율의 7배 정도로 증가하였고, 60km/h의 속도에서 가장 연비가 우수하였다.
