전치부 반대 교합을 동반한 골격성 3급 부정교합 환자의 치료에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF TREATMENT IN THE SKELETAL CLASS III MALOCCLUSION PATIENT WITH ANTERIOR CROSSBITE)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the treatment effects on anterior crossbite patients using chin cap and labiolingual arch appliance. In the present study, I statistically evaluated measurement values on a cephalogram before and after treatment form twenty anterior crossbite cases. The results were as follows: 1. In the craniofacial patterns, cranial base increased after treatment. 2. In the maxillo-mandibular relationship, ANB and Facial convexity significantly increased. 3. In the denture patterns, occlusal plane, Ul to FH and Overjet significantly increased. On the contrary overbite decreased significantly. Lower incisors inclined lingually. 4. In the soft tissue profile changes, lower lip protrusion was signifacantly improved.

과민성 대장증후군 내원환자의 MMPI 군집분석 (MMPI of Out-Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

  • In this cluster analysis of out-patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) we described the psychological features and personality patterns of these patients. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) was administered to 29 IBS patients who received treatment in the gastroenterology department of Ajou University Hospital to produce individual profiles for each patient. The 29 profiles with 13 standard scales, 15 content scales and 11 personality scales were subjected to cluster analysis resulting in three clusters of the original sample. Titles used to describe the psychological features and personality patterns seen in the three clusters included : (1) depression and anxiety : (2) somatization and denial of affect ; (3) anger overcontrol. Future studies on the treatment of IBS patients may well consider these features, as IBS patients have different psychological patterns.

Low Temperature Debinding Process Using Oxygen Plasma for Flexible Printed Electronics

  • In this study, an oxygen plasma treatment was used as a low temperature debinding method to form a conductive copper feature on a flexible substrate using a direct printing process. To demonstrate this concept, conductive copper patterns were formed on polyimide films using a copper nanoparticle-based paste with polymeric binders and dispersing agents and a screen printing method. Thermal and oxygen plasma treatments were utilized to remove the polymeric vehicle before a sintering of copper nanoparticles. The effect of the debinding methods on the phase, microstructure and electrical conductivity of the screen-printed patterns was systematically investigated by FE-SEM, TGA, XRD and four-point probe analysis. The patterns formed using oxygen plasma debinding showed the well-developed microstructure and the superior electrical conductivity compared with those of using thermal debinding.

  • Introduction: This study examined the treatment patterns of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) including conservative and surgical procedures. Materials and Methods: Patients with TMD who visited Gangnam Severance Hospital from June 2007 to May 2008 were enrolled in this study. All patients were examined from the orthopantomogram, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) tomography, and a clinical examination. The patients who required a further evaluation were examined by magnetic resonance imaging and/or computed tomography. The treatment patterns were divided into counseling, medication, splint therapy, botulinum toxin injection (BTI) and surgical treatment. Results: Among the 2,464 patients, the average age was 31.8 years (ranging from 6 to 93); 764 (31.0%) were male and 1,700 (69.0%) were female. 2,355 (95.6%) patients were treated with conservative therapy; 1,460 (62.0%) patients were treated with medication, 931 (39.5%) patients were treated with splint, and 46 (2.0%) were treated with BTI. There were 109 (4.4%) patients treated surgically. Eight (0.3%) patients were treated with total temporomandibular joint replacement surgery. Conclusion: Almost all patients with TMD were treated using conservative methods. Those patients who received surgical treatment because of an ineffective response to conservative treatment had definite problems with the internal derangement and/or osteoarthritis or had severe clinical symptoms.

Clozapine으로 치료 중인 만성 정신분열병 환자의 수면양상 (Sleep Patterns in Chronic Schizophrenic Patients Treated with Clozapine)

  • Objectives : Daytime drowsiness or sedation and changes in night sleep are commonly seen in patients treated with clozapine. There is, however, very limited information on their degree and nature during the course of treatment. The purpose of this study was to understand the sleep patterns in chronic schizophrenic patients with clozapine treatment over a period of 24 weeks. Method : The sleep pattern was evaluated using a set of 5-point scale questionnaire, to record subjective impressions of the night sleep induction, maintenance and quality, and daytime drowsiness and fatigue. In addition, unusual experiences associated with night sleep were recorded. The sleep questionnaire was repeatedly administered at baseline and at 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 weeks of drug treatment. At present, data on 12 patients has been collected. Results : All the components of night sleep were significantly improved in the 1st through the 12th week after treatment with clozapine. Daytime drowsiness was significantly higher in the 1st to the 2nd week after the treatment and fatigue was also significantly higher in the 1st to the 4th week after the treatment. Eight patients experienced noticeable increases in salivation during night sleep, and of these, one also reported frequent nocturnal urination and even enuresis. However, all these adverse factors did not affect the major sleep patterns. Conclusions : These findings suggest that the beneficial effects of clozapine on night sleep might last much longer than the undesirable effect of daytime drowsiness and fatigue. In other words, tolerance of the hypnotic action of clozapine might develop late and tolerance of the daytime drowsiness and fatigue might be evident earlier.

  • We conducted experiments to control the hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties by adjusting line and grid patterns on the surface of medical bone fixation plates using a femtosecond laser. Basic experiments were conducted using pure titanium and titanium alloy (6% alumina, 4% vanadium). The spacing of the line and grid patterns was adjusted, and surface properties were confirmed using contact angle measurement equipment. We demonstrated the feasibility of controlling hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties through the patterns of lines and grids. Based on the results of the basic experiments, surface treatment was applied to medical bone fixation plates currently used in clinical practice. Through laser processing, we confirmed a contact angle of approximately 9.18° for hydrophilicity and approximately 101.07° for hydrophobicity. We confirmed that easy control of hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties is achievable using laser processing technology and anticipate its application in various medical component fields.

Treatment Effect of a Modified Melodic Intonation Therapy (MMIT) in Korean Aphasics

  • The present study attempted to modify the conventional Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT) in three aspects: number of syllables of adjacent target utterances (ATU), melody patterns of ATU, and initial listening of melody and intoned speech with the eyes closed. The modified Melodic Intonation Therapy (MMIT) was applied to two severe Korean aphasics. The patients exhibited a severely nonfluent aphasia resulting from a left CVA(Cerebrovascular Accident). The purpose of the modification was to avoid perseveration and improve reflective listening skills. First, the treatment program avoided ATU with the same number of syllables. Second, four different patterns of melody were developed: rising type, falling type, V-type, and inverted V-type. One type of prosodic pattern was preceded and followed by another type of melody. These two variations were to decrease perseverative behaviors. Finally, the patients kept their eyes closed when the clinician played and hummed a target melody at the initial stage of the program in order to improve reflective listening skills. A single-subject alternating treatment design was used. The effects of MMIT were compared to the conventional MIT. Differing the number of syllables and the type of melodic patterns decreased perseverative behaviors and produced more correct names. The initial listening of the target melody with the patients' eyes closed seemed to increase their attentiveness and result in a more fluent production of target utterances. Probable reasons for the effectiveness of MMIT were discussed.

건강보험 청구자료를 이용한 알츠하이머 치매 치료제와 콜린알포세레이트의 처방 양상 분석 (An Analysis on Prescribing Patterns of Alzheimer's Dementia Treatment and Choline Alfoscerate using HIRA Claims Data)

  • Background: Alzheimer's dementia is the most common dementia. However, recently, choline alfoscerate is prescribed for treating Alzheimer's dementia, although it is not a treatment for this disease. Purpose: To analyze the prescription patterns of choline alfoscerate as a dementia treatment for patients with Alzheimer's disease and to analyze, as well as the factors affecting choline alfoscerate prescription. Method: The 2016 HIRA-NPS data was used in this study. The code of Alzheimer's dementia is F00 in the ICD-10 disease classification code. We analyzed the demographic, clinical, and regional characteristics associated with donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine, memantine, and choline alfoscerate prescriptions. All statistical and data analyse were conducted by SAS 9.4 and Excel. Results: For patients with Alzheimer's disease, choline alfoscerate was the second most prescribed after donepezil. Analysis results showed that choline alfoscerate was more likely to be prescribed to men than to women, and more likely to be prescribed by local health centers than by medical institutions. Moreover, choline alfoscerate was highly likely to be prescribed at neurosurgical departments, among medical departments. Conclusions: This study confirmed that choline alfoscerate was prescribed considerably for patients with Alzheimer's dementia. Further studies valuating its clinical validity should be performed to clarify whether choline alfoscerate prescription is appropriate for treating Alzheimer's dementia.

컴퓨터 편기를 사용한 철화자기 문양의 편성에 관한 연구 (Study on Computer Knitting for Patterns on Porcelain of Underglaze Iron)

  • Because of comfortable texture and easy treatment, more and more knit products has been required for leisure such as sports, traveling, hobbies, and various social activities. Therefore, the demand of knit is gradually increasing in the clothing industry. There are, however, several issues, which require solutions, and we must develop higher value-added products, which differentiate from those of developing countries allowing us to compete and win in the world market. The patterns on porcelain of underglaze iron, which had been popular from late-l5th century to mid-16th century, are diverse, unique, and traditional--so valuable patterns of our own. The computer hitting machine enables the designer to conceive new designs and produce samples of fabrics within a few minutes, which allows us to save time for mass production. Therefore, it is an essential tool for the knitting industry. After collecting, analyzing, and choosing various patterns on porcelains of underglaze iron, This study reflects the actual experience of hitting the fabrics with the patterns through the computer knitting machine which is also used to produce patterns after designing the new patterns through Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, which has several merits. This article compares and analyzes them for production, which uses the patterns that has been designed from the patterns on porcelains of underglaze iron.

The Effect of NaCI Treatment on the Freezing Tolerance and Protein Patterns of Carrot Callus Suspension Culture

  • The growth. freezing resistance and electrophoretic protein patterns of carrot callus cultures were investigated following treatment with NaCl for various' intervals at 20$^{\circ}C$. Following 7 day exposure to 250 mM NaCl. freezing tolerance increased, which was measured by 2.3.5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) assay and fresh weight was reduced compared to control cells. Changes of electrophoretic patterns of total and boiling stable proteins were investigated using one or two dimensional gel system. Several proteins with molecular weight of 43 and 21 kDa increased by NaCl treatment. The most prominent change was detected in 21 kDa protein. The steady state level of this protein increased in NaCl treated cells, but decreased in control cells. Twenty one kDa protein was detected only in the NaCl treated cell when boiling stable protein was analyzed. The isoelectric point of 21 kDa protein was identified as 5.7. The timing of increase of 21 kDa protein was correlated to freezing resistance which implied the role of this protein in the induction of freezing resistance of the cell.
