  • Recently, most of the speaker verification systems are based on the pattern recognition approach method. And performance of the pattern-classifier depends on how to classify a variety of speakers' feature parameters. In order to classify feature parameters efficiently and effectively, it is of great importance to enlarge variations between speakers and effectively measure distances between feature parameters. Therefore, this paper would suggest the positively mixed model scheme that can enlarge inter-speaker variation by searching the individual model with world model at the same time. During decision procedure, we can maximize inter-speaker variation by using the proposed mixed model scheme. We also make use of a symbol probability weighting function in this system so as to reduce vector quantization errors by measuring symbol probability derived from the distance rate of between the world codebook and individual codebook. As the result of our experiment using this method, we could halve the Detection Cost Function (DCF) of the system from $2.37\%\;to\;1.16\%$.

  • Vibration-based fault detection and condition monitoring of rotating machinery, using statistical process control (SPC) combined with statistical pattern recognition methodology, has been widely investigated by many researchers. In particular, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is considered as a powerful tool for feature extraction in detecting fault on rotating machinery. Although DWT significantly reduces the dimensionality of the data, the number of retained wavelet features can still be significantly large. Then, the use of standard multivariate SPC techniques is not advised, because the sample covariance matrix is likely to be singular, so that the common multivariate statistics cannot be calculated. Even though many feature-based SPC methods have been introduced to tackle this deficiency, most methods require a parametric distributional assumption that restricts their feasibility to specific problems of process control, and thus limit their application. This study proposes a nonparametric multivariate control chart method, based on multiscale wavelet scalogram (MWS) features, that overcomes the limitation posed by the parametric assumption in existing SPC methods. The presented approach takes advantage of multi-resolution analysis using DWT, and obtains MWS features with significantly low dimensionality. We calculate Hotelling's $T^2$-type monitoring statistic using MWS, which has enough damage-discrimination ability. A bootstrap approach is used to determine the upper control limit of the monitoring statistic, without any distributional assumption. Numerical simulations demonstrate the performance of the proposed control charting method, under various damage-level scenarios for a bearing system.

  • In this paper, it was segmented the face color distribution using YCbCr color model, which is one of the feature-based methods, and preprocessing stage was to be insensitive to the sensitivity for light which is one of the disadvantages for the feature-based methods by the quantization. In addition, it has raised the accuracy of image synthesis with characteristics which is selected the object of the most same image as the shape of pattern using rough set. In this paper, the detection rates of the proposed face detection algorithm was confirmed to be better about 2~3% than the conventional algorithms regardless of the size and direction on the various faces by simulation.

  • Detection and classification of underwater objects in sonar imagery are challenging problems. This paper proposes a system that detects and identifies underwater objects at the sea floor level using a sonar image and image processing techniques. The identification process of underwater objects consists of two steps; detection of candidate regions and identification of underwater objects. The candidate regions of underwater objects are extracted by image registration through the detection of common feature points between the reference background image and the current scanning image. And then, underwater objects are identified as the closest pattern within the database using eigenvectors and eigenvalues as features. The proposed system is expected to be used in efficient securement of Q route in vessel navigation.

  • Through the smart factory construction project, sensor data such as power, vibration, pressure, and temperature are collected from production facilities, and services such as predictive maintenance, defect prediction, and abnormality detection are developed through data analysis. In general, in the case of manufacturing data, because the imbalance between normal and abnormal data is extreme, an anomaly detection service is preferred. In this paper, FFT method is used to extract feature data of manufacturing data as a pre-stage of the anomaly detection service development. Using this method, we classified the produced products and confirmed results. In other words, after FFT of the representative pattern for each product, we verified whether product classification was possible or not, by calculating correlation coefficient.

  • We carried out shape recognition. We found out cucumber's feature shape by means of neural network and back propagation algorithm. We developed an algorithm which finds object position and shape in real image and we gained following conclusion as a result. It was processed for feature shape extraction of cucumber to detect automatic. The output pattern rates of the miss-detected objects was 0.1~4.2% in the output pattern which was recognized as cucumber. We were gained output pattern according to image resolution $445{\times}363$, $501{\times}391$, $450{\times}271$, $297{\times}421$. It was appeared that no change was detected. When learning pattern was increased to 25, miss-detection ratio was 16.02%, and when learning pattern had 2 pattern, it didn't detect 8 cucumber in 40 images.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of selecting new types of rectangle features that are suitable for facial expression recognition. The basic concept in this paper is similar to Viola's approach, which is used for face detection. Instead of previous Haar-like features we choose rectangle features for facial expression recognition among all possible rectangle types in a 3${\times}$3 matrix form using the AdaBoost algorithm. The facial expression recognition system constituted with the proposed rectangle features is also compared to that with previous rectangle features with regard to its capacity. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed approach has better performance in facial expression recognition.

  • In current time, anomaly detection is the primary concern of the administrative authorities. Suspicious activity identification is shifting from a human operator to a machine-assisted monitoring in order to assist the human operator and react to an unexpected incident quickly. These automatic surveillance systems face many challenges due to the intrinsic complex characteristics of video sequences and foreground human motion patterns. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to detect anomalous human activity using a hybrid approach of statistical model and Genetic Programming. The feature-set of local motion patterns is generated by a statistical model from the video data in an unsupervised way. This features set is inserted to an enhanced Genetic Programming based classifier to classify normal and abnormal patterns. The experiments are performed using publicly available benchmark datasets under different real-life scenarios. Results show that the proposed methodology is capable to detect and locate the anomalous activity in the real time. The accuracy of the proposed scheme exceeds those of the existing state of the art in term of anomalous activity detection.

  • Premature contraction arrhythmia is the most common disease among arrhythmia and it may cause serious situations such as ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Most of arrhythmia clasification methods have been developed with the primary objective of the high detection performance without taking into account the computational complexity. Also, personalized difference of ECG signal exist, performance degradation occurs because of carrying out diagnosis by general classification rule. Therefore it is necessary to design efficient method that classifies arrhythmia by analyzing the persons's physical condition and decreases computational cost by accurately detecting minimal feature point based on only QRS features. We propose method for personalized specific classification of premature contraction arrhythmia based on QRS features in smart healthcare environments. For this purpose, we detected R wave through the preprocessing method and SOM and selected abnormal signal sets.. Also, we developed algorithm to classify premature contraction arrhythmia using QRS pattern, RR interval, threshold for amplitude of R wave. The performance of R wave detection, Premature ventricular contraction classification is evaluated by using of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database that included over 30 PVC(Premature Ventricular Contraction) and PAC(Premature Atrial Contraction). The achieved scores indicate the average of 98.24% in R wave detection and the rate of 97.31% in Premature ventricular contraction classification.
