In this paper, an adaptive range aggregation spatial index method is proposed for spatial range query in ubiquitous sensor networks. As the ubiquitous sensor networks are the new information-oriented paradigm, many energy efficient spatial range query methods in ubiquitous sensor networks environment are studied vigorously. In sensor networks, users can monitor environment scalar data such as temperature and humidity during user defined time and spatial ranges. In order to execute spatial range query efficiently, rectangle based index methods are proposed, such as SPIX. But they define the return path as the opposite of its query transmit path. However, the sensor nodes in queried ranges are closed to each other, they can't aggregate the sensed value in a queried range because their query transmission paths are different. As a result, the previous methods waste energy unnecessarily to aggregate sensing data out of the queried range. In this paper, an adaptive aggregation index method is proposed that can aggregate values in a user defined range adaptively by using its neighbor information. It is shown that sensor power is saved efficiently by using the proposed method over the performance evaluation.
This paper proposes how to fabricate an educational Mach-Zehnder interferometer that is easy to align and inexpensive, using 3D printers and semiconductor lasers. The interferometer consists of a body $165mm{\times}120mm{\times}57mm$ in size, mirror mounts, a laser holder, beam splitters, and so on. The laser path is adjusted by 4 mirror mounts, each comprised of rubber bands, small metal wires, and a screw. The interference fringe is enlarged by the lens at the final stage. The refractive index of a slide glass was measured by counting the number of moving interference fringes while the slide glass, inserted into one of the two interferometer arms, is rotating. The formula for the refractive index as a function of the optical-path difference and rotation angle was obtained, and used to calculate the refractive index of glass from the interferometer experiment. The use of a rotating glass in one arm of the interferometer nullifies the need for a precision stage, which despite its high cost is often required to observe the moving interference fringe in the classroom. Therefore, the 3D-printed Mach-Zehnder interferometer proposed in this paper can be very useful for education, because of its affordability and performance. It enables students to perform both qualitative and quantitative studies using a 3D-printed interferometer, such as measuring the refractive index of a glass sample, and the wavelength of light.
A series of laboratory tests for the marine clay sampled under the sea of Kwangyang bay have been conducted. The main types of tests are the general index property tests, the oedometer tests and the triaxial compression tests in both undrained(CIU) and drained(CID) conditions. The clayey samples, classified as CL, CH with natural water content of 38.3~84.6% and liquidity index of 0.71~0.98, are in the normally consolidated state with O.C.R. of 1.0l~l.60. The undrained stress path from CIU tests can be normalized with isotropic consolidation pressure$(p_0)$ and equal shear strain contour is linear passing through the origin in the (q, p) plot. The undrained shear strain is found to be the only function of the stress ratio($\eta$) and linear with intercept in the ($\varepsilon/\eta,\eta$) plot. The built-up pore pressure normalized with pc is also linear with respect to $\eta$. and its slope is defined by ´C´ as a pore pressure parameter. Equations to predict the undrained stress path and the shear strain are proposed. It is proved that the proposed equations give better agreements to the measured values than the Cam-clay theories. The failure points of the stress path are located on the same C.S.L. in (q, p) plot during both CIU and CID tests, which justifies the concept of critical state theory.

This study analyzes the propagation of the path losses between Jeju-do and Jin-do transceivers located in the coastal areas of Korea using the Advanced Refractive Prediction System(AREPS) simulation software based on the actual coastal weather database. The simulated data is used to construct a duct map according to the altitude and thickness of the trap. The duct map is then divided into several regions depending on the altitude parameters of Tx and Rx, which can be used to effectively estimate the abnormal wave propagation characteristics due to duct occurrence in the Jeju-do coastal area. To validate the proposed duct map, two representative atmospheric index samples of the weather database in May 2018 are selected, and the simulated path losses using these atmospheric indices are compared with the measured data. The simulated path losses for abnormal conditions at the Rx point at Jeju-do are 167.7 dB and 192.3 dB, respectively, which are in good agreement with the measured data of 164.4 dB and 194.9 dB, respectively.
The author performed this study to investige the relationship between condylar movements recorded with Pantronicⓡ and mandibular rotational torque movements with BioEGNⓡ. For this study 56 patients with Temporomandibular disorders(TMD) and 30 dental students without any masticatory signs and symptoms were selected as patients group and control group, respectively. The items recorded with Pantronicⓡ(Denar Corp., USA) were immediate side-shift, progressive side-shift, angle of orbiting path, protrusive path and PRI. BioEGNⓡ(Bioelectric gnathography, Bioresearch Inc., USA) were used to measure the amounts of mandibular rotational torque movements in frontal and horizontal plane, and the distance of mandibular translation at incisal area. Amount of mandibular rotational torque movement depicted between the condyles was automatically analysed by angle and difference in frontal and horizontal plane. The obtained data were processed with SAS program and the conclusion of this study were as follows : 1. Mean values of items between patients group and control group in Pantronic measurements were not significantly different except in left protrusive path and in Pantronic Reproducibility Index(PRI). There were no significant difference of condylar paths by preferred chewing side and affected side between the two groups. 2. The amount of mandibular rotational torque movements were differed in frontal angle and difference on protrusion, and in frontal and in horizontal difference on left excursion between the two groups. But the amounts of translatory movements were actually same on all eccentric movements. 3. The amount of mandibular rotational torque movements with splint mere almost not changed from those without splint, with the exception of in horizontal measurements on protrusion. 4. The correlations of items between in Pantronic measurements and in BioEGN measurements wert not consistently, significant, however, generally the ISS related significantly with horizontal torque movement positively, and with frontal torque movement negatively on the contrary, the PSS showed positive correlation with frontal torque movement, and negative correlation with horizontal torque movement.

In this mobile computing environment, data broadcasting is widely used to resolve the problem of limited power and bandwidth of mobile equipments. Most previous broadcast indexing methods concentrate on flat data. However. with the growing popularity of XML, an increasing amount of information is being stored and exchanged in the XML format. We propose a novel indexing method. called TOP tree(Tree Ordering based Path summary tree), for indexing XML document on mobile broadcast environments. TOP tree is a path summary tree which provides a concise structure summary at group level using global IDs and element information at local level using local IDs. Based on the TOP tree representation, we suggest a broadcast stream generation and query Processing method that efficiently handles not only simple Path queries but also multiple path queries. We have compared our indexing method with other indexing methods. Evaluation results show that our approaches can effectively improve the access time and tune-in time in a wireless broadcasting environment.
As the use of various application services utilizing Web and IoT and the need for large amounts of data management expand accordingly, the importance of efficient data expression and exchange scheme and data query processing is increasing. JSON, characterized by its simplicity, is being used in various fields as a format for data exchange and data storage instead of XML, which is a standard data expression and exchange language on the Web. This means that it is important to develop indexing and query processing techniques to effectively access and search large amounts of data expressed in JSON. Therefore, in this paper, we modeled JSON data with a hierarchical structure in a tree form, and proposed indexing and query processing using the path concept. In particular, we designed an index structure using a suffix array widely used in text search and introduced simple and complex path-based JSON data query processing methods.
This study is intended to build a controller of redundant manipulators with the simultaneous abilities of trajectory tracking and obstacle avoidance without any preparations of path planning to achieve full automation even for one production of one kind, while keeping the avoidance ability high and keeping its shape away from object to reduce the possibility that the manipulator crashes to the object. To evaluate the avoidance ability of the intermediate link, we proposed a scalar value of Avoidance Manipulability Shape Index(AMSI), which is independent of the obstacle's shape. On the other hand, the danger to crash to the obstacle is depending on the shape of the obstacle, which could be evaluated by the potential field set around the obstacle. This paper proposes control method of the manipulator's shape based on the AMSI to simultaneously avoid obstacles and keep the avoidance ability high with potential.

The purpose of vehicle horn sound is for warning to pedestrians. In the past, the main development factor is to match the regulation level. But nowadays perceived quality is more important than level itself. In this study, we measure variety horn sound and evaluate its signals through the jury evaluation aimed at making horn sound quality index. Each contribution of the noise path for sound quality is identified and the target values and methods for implementing the luxurious horn sound are suggested. Finally, we developed, horn component and improve horn mounting condition for luxurious horn sound.
The inverted index widely used in the existing information retrieval field should be extended for XML documents to support containment queries by XML information retrieval systems. In this paper, we consider that there are two methods in storing the inverted index and processing containment queries for XML documents as the previous work suggested: using a RDBMS or using an inverted lift engine. It has two drawbacks to extend the inverted index in the previous work. One is that using a RDBMS is moth worse in the performance than using an inverted list engine. The other is that when containment queries are processed in a RDBMS, there is an increase in the number of a join operation as the path length of a query increases and a join operation always happens between large fables. In this paper. we extend the inverted index in a different way to solve these problems and show the effectiveness of using a RDBMS.
