  • To make a mobile robot to get to a goal point, path which connects the mobile robot and the goal point is needed and a path planning is necessary. There are various kinds of a path planning. Well known methods are skeleton method, cell decomposition method and potential field method. But each method has both fortes and defects. In this paper, we propose a new method of path planning to find a path for mobile robot. It is obtained by modifying a Voronoi diagram. An original Voronoi diagram can make a safe path but its result is not satisfied. First defect of path, finded by the original Voronoi diagram, is sulplus of safty which make a path longer. Second defect is that the original Voronoi diagram method has a problem of connecting the Voronoi daigram with start/goal point of mobile robot. These defects are removed in proposed algorithm in this paper. We define a function to show the quality of paths. And by computer simulation, paths are compared and its result are shown.

  • Voronoi diagram of a set of geometric entities on a plane such as points, line segments, or arcs is a collection of Voronoi polygons associated with each entity, where Voronoi polygon of an entity is a locus of point which is closer to the associated entity than any other entity. Voronoi diagram is one of the most fundamental geometrical construct and well-known for its theoretical elegance and the wealth of applications. Various geometric problems can be solved with the aid of Voronoi diagram. For example, the maximum tool diameter of a milling cutter for rough cutting in a pocket can be easily found, and the pocketing tool path can be efficiently generated from Voronoi diagram. In PCB design, the design rule checking can be easily done via Voronoi diagram, too. This paper discusses an algorithm to construct Voronoi diagram of a simple polygon which consists of simple curves such as line segments as well as arcs in a plane with O(nlogn) time complexity by employing the divide and conquer scheme.

  • Recently, systems such as aircraft, trains and ships have become larger more complex. Therefore, the reliability calculation of these systems is more difficult. This paper presents a reliability calculation algorithm for a complex system with a solution that is difficult to analyze. When the system has a very complex structure, it is very difficult to find an analytical solution. In this case, we can assess system reliability using the failure enumeration method of the reliability path. In this research, we represent the reliability block diagram by an adjacent matrix and define the reliability path. We can find any system status by the failure enumeration of the reliability path, and thus we can calculate any kind of system reliability through this process. This result can be applied to RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) and reliability information-management systems, in which the system reliability is composed of the reliabilities of individual parts.

  • This paper proposes a determination method of waypoints to maximize the survivability of a UAV. Voronoi diagram which is used for the initial selection of waypoint candidates is the most widely used path planning technique to avoid the threat as far as possible when the location and strength of the threat are given. But if threat strength is different each other and flight path is constrained along with straight lines, Voronoi diagram has limitations in real applications. In this study, the initial waypoints obtained from Voronoi diagram are optimized considering the shape of each threat. Here, a waypoint is optimized while adjacent waypoints are fixed. By repeating this localized optimization until whole waypoints are converged, computation time for finding the best waypoints is greatly reduced.

  • Voronoi diagrams are applied in varios field such as NC toolpath generation, VLSI design and robot path planning because of their geometric charcteristics. In this paper, Voronoi diagrams are introduced on polygon constructed by line segments only and with constant offset. Bisector curves for two arbitrary objects, which is the combination of line segment and arc, are defined as parametric fuction where the parameter is used as offset. Offset curves are applied on the generation of laser scanning path for the stereolithography and shows a good result from several examples.

  • The PEPS(Polar-coordinated Effective Plastic Strain) FLD(Forming Limit Diagram), a new type of FLD based on a polar representation of the EPS(Effective Plastic Strain), appears to be an effective solution to the problem of non-linear strain path effects. This method has the advantages of the familiar strain-based diagram for linear loading, but without the strain-hardening limitations of the stress-based diagram, or non-intuitive aspects of alternate Cartesian diagrams based on effective plastic strain. In the current study, the PEPS FLD was applied to the development process of an aluminum automobile-body panel, including the necking or crack prediction, die design, and die modification. As a result, the PEPS FLD provided improved formability of aluminum sheet as compared to deriving the potential formability with non-linearity.

  • The Voronoi diagram of spheres and power diagram have been known as powerful tools to analyze spatial characteristics of weighted points, and these structures have variety range of applications including molecular spatial structure analysis, location based optimization, architectural design, etc. Due to the fact that both diagrams are based on different distance metrics, one has better usability than another depending on application problems. In this paper, we compare these diagrams in various situations from the user's viewpoint, and show the Voronoi diagram of spheres is more effective in the problems based on the Euclidean distance metric such as nearest neighbor search, path bottleneck locating, and internal void finding.

  • Current flight maneuver diagram used by pilots is based on 2D spatial presentation, so it has limitation on display 3D flight information and hard to understand it instinctively. Flight animation authoring tools for this diagram are complex to use and lack useful features like non-linear editing of flight path and real-time interactivity on multiple aircrafts. This research focuses on 3D flight path generation method in the animation system for flight maneuver education. This research combines initial sketch input on 2D diagram with the thrust of an aircraft to generate 3D linear spline as close as to real flight. Using suggested linear spline creation method, the flight path can be visualized, edited, and animated in real-time at the flight maneuver briefing and debriefing.

  • Currently, software testing is becoming increasingly important in the industrial field and a large body of research supports the improvement of efficient software testing. Model-based testing is generally used to formalize user requirement data for test design. Complex system that includes loop and concurrency has a high probability of path explosion problem. Specially, as threads are added to concurrency, test scenarios have also increased exponentially. However, it is difficult to solve this problem using existing techniques. In this paper, we propose novel path-search technique that focuses on behavioral features of concurrency path in order to avoid path explosion problem. A system that contains concurrent paths is represented by activity diagram in case study section. Efficiency of our study is shown through comparison with several generated test scenarios of other studies. The result indicate that our approach is efficient for finding faults in loop and concurrency with fewer test scenario.

  • The forming limit diagram of tube is required for the part design and the formability analysis of tube hydroforming. The finite element analyses of simple bulge test were done to obtain the various strain combinations on FLC. The finite element analysis results were shown that the bursting at various strain combinations could be induced by simple bulge test. The experiment oi tube bulge test was carried out according to the test condition that obtained from finite element analysis and the left hand side of forming limit diagram was built.
