KIPRIS patent database was analyzed for identifying the technological status of Daedeok Innopolis Biocluster. It was found that the pattern of activities among various technological areas in Daedeok Biocluster is similar to that of an advanced country rather than those of other cities in Korea. The technological growth in Daedeok Innopolis Biocluster is in the progressive stage, which may be due to the innovative activities rather than the rise in the number of new firms or institutes. The concentration of technology in Daedeok Innopolis Biocluster is a favorable condition for the innovation activities. The trend for the technological concentration was remarkably consistent with the growth curve that a population increases according to the logistic equation. The logistic growth may be represented by the result of competition due to the limited resource allocation and then innovation cluster is corresponding to the ecosystem composed by biological individuals. There is strong competition in Daedeok Innopolis Biocluster in around 2009, so the government might make a policy to encourage the technological diversity for healthy knowledge ecosystem.

본 연구는 기업의 특허출원 목적을 파악하는데 있다. 이에 선행연구 고찰을 통해 특허출원 목적을 파악하고, 전문가 델파이를 통해 10개 요인을 선정하고 이를 중국기업의 특허담당 실무자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, Improve the technological image of your company, For use in negotiation: cross licensing, joint venture, Improve the situation in R&D cooperations, Enhance Reputation, Measure performance, Aacquire venture capital, Prevent patent infringement suits, Licensing Revenue, Blocking or prevent competitors' patenting and application activities, Prevent copying or protect own technology from imitation 순으로 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 기업에서 특허를 출원할 때 우선적으로 고려해햐 할 요인이 무엇인지 파악하고 적용하는데 있어 실무적 가이드라인으로 활용가능할 것으로 기대한다

This study intends to examine the effect of research and development (R&D) expenditure effects on firm value through patent and earing persistence. The patent is the representative intangible asset which objectively indicates a typical product of research and development activities to external parties. If a firm has acquired the patent, it receives amicable evaluation from the market compared to the firm which has not acquired patent. Empirical analysis is performed for non-banking firms (1,860 firm-years) listed on Korean Stock Exchange with December fiscal year-end over 2004-2009. Research results are as follows. First, the multiple pricing of patent acquiring firm and earing persistence increased group showed that they have higher prices than the other groups. Second, the multiple pricing of R&D expenditures of earing persistence increased group showed that they have higher prices than the other group. Third, the R&D expenditures of earing persistence increased group is receiving more friendly evaluation from the stock market than the other group.

Smart Car market has been experiencing continuous growth to drive leading companies in automotive and IT industries to focus on advancing related technologies. As the IT technologies fuse into automotive technologies, the patent litigation has been showing changes. One of the prominent changes in patent litigation pattern of Smart Car field is the increased activities of the Non-Practicing Entities (NPEs), whose main field has been the IT area. However, the automotive companies have been mainly focusing on preventing patent disputes against competitors through trend analysis, which caused them to become relatively vulnerable to the attacks from NPEs. In this study, we developed a methodology for monitoring and analyzing the activities of NPEs using network analysis tools to suggest effective strategies for manufacturing companies to fortify their ability to respond against unanticipated attacks. Our methodology, which is developed for the Smart Car field, can also be useful for other fields such as IT and electronics.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the patenting activities related to the fields of AI is increasing worldwide. In particular, a share of patent filed in China has exploded in recent years and overtakes the numbers in the US. In the present study, we focus our attention on the patenting activity of China and the US. We analyzed 6,281 and 13,664 patent applications in the US and China respectively between 2008 and 2018, and belonging to the "G06F(Electric Digital Data Processing)", "G06N(Computer Systems Based on Specific Computational Models)", "H04L(Transmission of Digital Information)" and nine more relevant technological classes, as indicated by the International Patent Classification(IPC). Our analysis contributes to: first, the understanding of patent application trends from foreign countries filed in the US and China, 2) patent application status by applicants category such as companies, universities and individuals, 3) the development direction and forecasting vacant technology of AI according to main IPC code. Through the analysis of this paper, we can suggest some implications for patent research related to artificial intelligence in Korea. Plus, by analyzing the most recent patent data, we can provide important information for future artificial intelligence technology research.

지난 10여년 동안 새로운 내생적인 경제성장의 동력으로서의 지식창출활동에 대한 관심이 크게 고조되면서, 지식기반경제에서 지식창출을 측정하는 지표로서 특허의 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 선진국의 경우 지식창출활동은 공간상에 특정지역으로 집중되거나 클러스터를 형성하는 것으로 분석되고 있다. 본 연구는 1981-2000년 동안 국내 특허 데이터를 토대로 하여 지식창출활동의 성장에 따른 공간분포패턴을 분석하는데 목적을 두었다. 등록된 특허 원시자료를 데이터베이스로 구축하여 공간통계와 지리정보체계를 활용하여 지식창출활동 패턴의 공간적 연관성을 분석하였다. 우리나라의 경우 지식창출량의 68.5%가 단지 상위 10개 도시에 집중되어 있을 정도로 매우 불균등하게 지식창출활동이 이루어지고 있으며, 지식창출활동의 공간분포 패턴은 유의미한 공간적 자기상관을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 실제로 서울과 수원을 중심으로 하는 지식창출량이 많은 H-H형 클러스터는 수도권내에서만 형성되어, 지식창출활동의 확산은 공간의 제약성을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

기업들의 경쟁 환경이 세계시장으로 급속히 확대되고 있다. 이에 글로벌 자동차 기업을 대상으로 한 실증분석을 통해, 기업들의 국제적인 기술수준을 비교할 수 있는 특허포트폴리오 분석 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 1991년부터 2010년까지 20년간의 삼극특허를 이용하여 국제적 수준의 특허활동을 측정하였으며, 권리적, 기술적, 경제적 측면에서 특허품질을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 미국의 자동차기업인 Ford와 GM은 특허품질이 우수하고, 특허품질의 변화도 크게 증가한 잠재적 리더로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 삼극특허를 기준으로 국적이 다른 글로벌 기업들 간의 국제적인 특허활동을 측정하고, 권리적, 기술적, 경제적 측면에서의 종합적인 특허품질을 삼극특허에 기반하여 일관성 있게 분석하는 방법을 제시한 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

세계가 하나의 시장으로 통합되면서 국제표준은 기업의 생사와 국가경제에 막대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 특히 정보통신분야에서 표준은 더욱 중요한 의미를 가진다. 기업들은 자사에 유리한 표준을 확대하려고 할 뿐만 아니라, 표준에 특허 등 자사의 지적재산권을 반영하려고 노력하고 있다. 이를 통해 자사의 기술을 보호함과 동시에 시장에서 점유율을 확대하려고 한다. 본 논문에서는 정보통신분야에서 대표적인 국제표준화단체인 ITU-T와 IEEE의 표준에 포함된 특허에 대해 살펴본다. 특허 데이터 분석은 특허 활동의 현황과 향후 방향에 대해 이해할 수 있는 의미 있는 연구주제이다. 국가별 특허 보유 현황과 기관별 특허 보유 현황을 기준으로 특허 데이터베이스를 분석하고, 특허 데이터베이스의 자세한 분석 결과와 그 의미를 제시한다.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the structure of efficiency of R&D input variables and the attributes of patent information as output of R&D activities in the major manufacturing industries (electric & electronics, machinery, chemical, textile) from the mid-1970s to the late-1990s by the development of "mapping technique". To attain this objective we first have examined the attribute of time-lag which depends on the absolute, and the cumulative values between input and output. And on the basis of this result, we have made an analysis on the impact to extract the main variables affecting patent by industries. Moreover, according to time trend of the impact variables, we have analyzed the structure of R&D efficiency, and of technological progress which will be changed with time by patent information. It has been aimed at constructing technological progress patterns in the Korea industry.

과거 산업경제의 기업 경쟁력은 생산력에서 비롯되었다면, 최근에는 무형자산인 특허의 확보력이 기업의 글로벌경제 성공요인의 중요한 조건이 되고 있다. 특히 기술의 변화가 빠르고, 국제적 특허분쟁이 심한 IT산업에서는 국내외 특허의 전략적 확보 및 관리의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 코스닥기업 중 하드웨어와 소프트웨어 217개 IT기업들의 특허활동을 양적인 요인인 생산성과 질적인 요인인 효율성 및 고급성으로 구분하고, 기업의 재무성과와의 영향관계를 검증하고 시사점을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 자원기반이론을 기반으로 선행연구를 실시하여 개념적 연구모형과 연구가설을 도출하고, 데이터 자료를 다중회귀모델로 실증 분석하여 다음과 같은 연구결과를 얻었다. 첫째, IT기업의 총자산 증가율에 대해 특허의 효율성과 고급성이 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, IT기업의 평균매출 증가율에 대해서는 특허의 세 가지 활동요인 모두 유의한 결과를 가져오지 못했다. 셋째, IT기업의 평균 순이익 증가율에 대해서는 특허의 고급성만이 양(+)의 영향을 가져왔다. 본 연구의 선행연구와의 차별성으로 특허활동을 양적인 요인과 질적인 요인으로 구분하여 재무성과와의 영향관계에 대한 연구를 진행하였고, 실무적 기여도에서는 국제적 특허분쟁이 심각한 IT기업들의 특허활동에 대해 전략적인 방향성을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있다.
