  • In this work, the bending and dynamic behaviors of advanced composite plates resting on variable visco-Pasternak foundations are studied using a simple shear deformation integral plate model. The research is carried out with a view to a three-parameter foundation including the influences of the variable Winkler coefficient, the constant Pasternak coefficient and the damping coefficient of the elastic medium. The present theory uses a displacement field with integral terms instead of derivative terms by including also the shear deformation effect without introducing the shear correction factors. The equations of motion for advanced composite plates are obtained using the Hamilton principle. Analytical solutions for the bending and dynamic analysis are deduced for simply supported plates resting on variable visco-Pasternak foundations. Some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the impact of material index, elastic foundation type, and damping coefficient of the foundation, on the bending and dynamic responses of advanced composite plates.

  • In this investigation, an improved integral trigonometric shear deformation theory is employed to examine the vibrational behavior of the functionally graded (FG) sandwich plates resting on visco-Pasternak foundations. The studied structure is modelled with only four unknowns' variables displacements functions. The simplicity of the developed model being in the reduced number of variables which was made with the help of the use of the indeterminate integral in the formulation. The current kinematic takes into consideration the shear deformation effect and does not require any shear correction factors as used in the first shear deformation theory. The equations of motion are determined from Hamilton's principle with including the effect of the reaction of the visco-Pasternak's foundation. A Galerkin technique is proposed to solve the differentials governing equations, which enables one to obtain the semi-analytical solutions of natural frequencies for various clamped and simply supported FG sandwich plates resting on visco-Pasternak foundations. The validity of proposed model is checked with others solutions found in the literature. Parametric studies are performed to illustrate the impact of various parameters as plate dimension, layer thickness ratio, inhomogeneity index, damping coefficient, vibrational mode and elastic foundation on the vibrational behavior of the FG sandwich plates.

  • This work presents an efficient and original hyperbolic shear deformation theory for the bending and dynamic behavior of functionally graded (FG) beams resting on Winkler - Pasternak foundations. The theory accounts for hyperbolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. Based on the present theory, the equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Navier type analytical solutions are obtained for the bending and vibration problems. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions. It can be concluded that the present theory is not only accurate but also simple in predicting the bending and vibration behavior of functionally graded beams.

  • In this study, free vibration analysis of Reissner plates on Pasternak foundation is carried out by mixed finite element method based on the G$\hat{a}$teaux differential. New boundary conditions are established for plates on Pasternak foundation. This method is developed and applied to numerous problems by Ak$\ddot{o}$z and his co-workers. In dynamic analysis, the problem reduces to the solution of a standard eigenvalue problem and the mixed element is based upon a consistent mass matrix formulation. The element has four nodes and bending and torsional moments, transverse shear forces, rotations and displacements are the basic unknowns. The element performance is assessed by comparison with numerical examples known from literature. Validity limits of Kirchhoff plate theory is tested by dynamic analysis. Shear locking effects are tested as far as $h/2a=10^{-6}$ and it is observed that REC32 is free from shear locking.

  • This paper deals with the free vibrations of horizontally curved members resting on elastic foundations with continuity effect. Taking into account the effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation, differential equations governing the free vibrations of such beams are derived, in which the Pasternak foundation model is considered as the elastic foundation with continuity effect. The differential equations are solved numerically to calculate natural frequencies and mode shapes. The experiments were performed in which the natural frequencies of such curved beams in laboratorial scale were measured and these results agree quite well with the present numerical studies. In numerical examples, the circular, parabolic, sinusoidal and elliptic curved members with the hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped and clamped end constraints are considered. The parametric studies are conducted and the lowest four frequency parameters are reported in tables and figures as the non-dimensional forms. Also the typical mode shapes are presented.

  • The nonlinear buckling response of nano composite anti-symmetric functionally graded polymeric microplate reinforced by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) rested on orthotropic elastomeric foundation with temperature dependent properties is investigated. For the carbon-nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) microplate, a uniform distribution (UD) and four types of functionally graded (FG) distribution are considered. Based on orthotropic Mindlin plate theory, von Karman geometric nonlinearity and Hamilton's principle, the governing equations are derived. Generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is employed to calculate the non-linear buckling response of the plate. Effects of FG distribution type, elastomeric foundation, aspect ratio (thickness to width ratio), boundary condition, orientation of foundation orthotropy and temperature are considered. The results are validated. It is found that the critical buckling load without elastic medium is significantly lower than considering Winkler and Pasternak medium.

  • The soil-structure interactions are caused by the point sources of explosions, deriving piles, compaction of foundations and excavations those are frequently arose in the construction sites. Thus the analysis of soil-structure interactions is one of the most important subjects in the fields of dynamic analysis and vibration control. From this viewpoint, the aim of this study is to collect the basic data for designing foundation structures throughout understanding the dynamic structural behavior, which is embodied by the dynamic analysis of soil-structure systems. In this study, the dynamic analyses of stiffened thick plates subjected to in-plane stress on elastic foundations are carried out. The foundation is modeled as Pasternak foundation that includes the continuity effect of foundations. Also both the Mindlin plate theory and Timoshenko beam-column theory are used for analyzing the thick plates and beams, respectively.

  • In this paper, an analytical method for the Post-buckling response of cylindrical shells with spiral stiffeners surrounded by an elastic medium subjected to external pressure is presented. The proposed model is based on two parameters elastic foundation Winkler and Pasternak. The material properties of the shell and stiffeners are assumed to be continuously graded in the thickness direction. According to the Von Karman nonlinear equations and the classical plate theory of shells, strain-displacement relations are obtained. The smeared stiffeners technique and Galerkin method is used to solve the nonlinear problem. To valid the formulations, comparisons are made with the available solutions for nonlinear static buckling of stiffened homogeneous and un-stiffened FGM cylindrical shells. The obtained results show the elastic foundation Winkler on the response of buckling is more effective than the elastic foundation Pasternak. Also the ceramic shells buckling strength higher than the metal shells and minimum critical buckling load is occurred, when both of the stiffeners have angle of thirty degrees.
