이종 알루미늄의 FSW에서의 물질혼합에 관한 연구 (Mixing of Materials in FSW of Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys)

  • The mixing of two dissimilar aluminum alloys in friction stir welding (FSW) was investigated using etching. The results show that the materials from the retreating side mixed into the advancing side in rather narrow and elongated bands whereas the materials from the advancing side mixed into the retreating side in the form of thick bands and lobes. A computational method using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is introduced as a way to properly describe the complex mixing behavior in FSW.

  • Effects of temperature, volatile content, particle diameter and solid input weight were investigated in the batch fluidized bed reactor using OCN703-1100 particle as oxygen carrier and Roto coal and char as fuels. Two solid fuels represented the best reactivity at different temperature, $900^{\circ}C$ for Roto coal and $950^{\circ}C$ for char, respectively. However, we selected $900^{\circ}C$ as the best operating temperature because the improvement of reactivity of char at $950^{\circ}C$ was negligible. Char represented better reactivity than Roto coal because char contains low volatile than Roto coal. For both solid fuels, reactivities were improved with increasing of the particle diameter. These results were explained by solid mixing tests in a transparent fluidized bed using two char particles having different particle size ranges and OCN703-1100 particle. The bigger particle showed better solid mixing with OCN703-1100 particle, and therefore, represented better reactivity. For both solid fuels, reactivities were improved with increasing of the solid input weight within the experimental conditions of this study because the weight of coarse particles increased with the solid input weight increased, and therefore, these coarse particles can mix well with the oxygen carrier.

  • Particle-reinforced metal matrix composites via the Osprey spray casting process were fabricated by injecting second phase particles of $Al_2O_3$(<$40{\mu}m$) and W($6{\mu}m$) into the spray of Cu droplets, and the thermal behaviors of the composite droplets during flight were considered theoretically on the basis of mixing modes between the Cu droplets and the reinforced particulates injected. It was found that the W-injected spray is comprised of particle-embedded droplets, and the $Al_2O_3-injected$ spray comprises particle-attached droplets. From the predicted results of the thermal behaviors of the composite droplets and preforms produced, it is concluded that the thermal behaviors of the composite droplets during flight, and during the subsequent deposition are strongly influenced by its mixing modes between the reinforced particulates and Cu droplets during flight.

비소성 준설토의 침강-압밀 거동 특성 (Characteristics of Settling and Consolidation Behavior for Non-Plastic Dredged Soils)

  • A series of column test with a silty marine soil mixed with Jumunjin Standard Sand were performed to investigate the characteristics of settling and consolidation of non-plastic dredged soils. Column tests were carried out by using the separable column to measure the grain size distribution of consolidated layer. Column tests were performed with changing the mixing ratio of Jumunjin Standard Sand to the silty marine soil, initial water content of slurry and initial height of slurry. Height of interface of slurry was monitored during tests and grain size distribution tests were carried out after finishing tests. Influencing factors on the particle segregation, eventually to the characteristics of settling and consolidation of non-plastic soil, were analyzed on the thesis of test results. As results of column tests, the mixing ratio of sand to the silty marine soil and the initial water content of slurry were known to affect the characteristics of settling and consolidation resulted in significant particle segregation of slurry. Initial height of slurry was found not to affect seriously to particle segregation.

  • Poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres containing ovalbumin (OVA) as a model protein drug were prepared by double emulsification method, and various conditions such as mixing rate, volume of outer phase and isopropyl alcohol concentration in outer phase during secondary emulsification were observed to control the size of microspheres. In addition, entrapment efficiency of OVA and protein denaturation were also evaluated. As the rate of stirring was increased, the size of particles was decreased. But excessive stirring increased the particle size of microspheres. In a preparation condition of small volume of outer phase, the particle size was decreased but the entrapment efficiency was increased. Adding isopropyl alcohol to outer phase decreased the size of particles, but increased the entrapment efficiency. Microparticles should have smaller size than $10\;{\mu}m$ to be uptaked by Peyer's patch in small intestine. High speed of mixing and relatively small volume of outer phase are needed to reduce the size. In addition, appropriate amount of isopropyl alcohol in outer phase also plays an important role in size reduction of PLGA microspheres.

고형물함량 및 혼합강도가 생물반응기를 이용한 석유계탄화수소 오염토양의 처리에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Solids Content and Mixing Speed in Treatment of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soils using a Bioreactor)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 슬러리상 생물반응기를 이용한 석유계탄화수소 오염토양의 처리에 있어서 고형물함량 및 혼합강도의 영향을 평가하는 것이다. 디이젤오염토양의 슬러리상 생물학적 처리에 대한 수행결과는 실험실규모에서 얻어졌고 TPH(총 석유계탄화수소)는 생물학적 처리와 연관하여 평가되었다. TPH의 생물학적 및 비생물학적 거동은 디이젤내의 화합물에 의해 이전에 노출되지 않은 토양을 이용하여 결정되었다. 투입량에 대한 반응기부피는 고형물함량을 최대화함으로써 줄여질 수 있다. 고형물함량 50% 및 20%를 적용한 결과 생물학적 TPH 제거율에 있어서 약간의 차이(57.5%:61.6%)를 보여주었다. 혼합과 토양입자의 부유는 오염물의 탈착 및 생물학적 분해에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 두가지 혼합강도를 이용하여 수행되었다. 70rpm을 이용한 반응기의 경우 20rpm을 적용한 반응기에 비하여 토양입자의 부유 및 TPH의 제거율에 있어서 더 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 20rpm을 적용한 반응기의 경우 토양입자의 완전한 부유가 일어나지 않았다.

Production of Ultra-fine Metal Powder with Gas Atomization Processes

  • Experimental results of the metal powder production with internal mixing, internal impinging and the atomizer coupled with substrate design are presented in this paper. In a test with internal mixing atomizer, mean powder size was decreased from $37{\mu}m\;to\;23{\mu}m$ for Pb65Sn35 alloy as the gas-to-melt mass ratio was increased from 0.04 to 0.17. The particle size further reduces to $16.01{\mu}m$ as the orifice area is increased to $24mm^2$. The micrograph of the metal powder indicates that very fine and spherical metal powder has been produced by this process. In a test program using the internal impinging atomizers, the mean particle size of the metal powder was decreased from $22{\mu}m\;to\;12{\mu}m$ as the gas-to-melt-mass ratio increased from 0.05 to 0.22. The test results of an atomizer coupled with a substrate indicates that the deposition rate of the molten spray on the substrate is controlled by the diameter of the substrate, the height of the substrate ring and the distance of the substrate from the outlet of the atomizer. This in rum determines the powder production rate of the spraying processes. Experimental results indicate that the deposition rate of the spray forming material decreases as the distance between the substrate and the atomizer increases. For example, the deposition rate decreases from 48% to 19% as the substrate is placed at a distance from 20cm to 40cm. On the other hand, the metal powder production rate and its particle size increases as the subsrate is placed far away from the atomizer. The production of metal powder with mean particle size as low as $3.13{\mu}m$ has been achieved, a level which is not achievable by the conventional gas atomization processes.

선포토미터 데이터를 이용한 편광소멸도 산출과 라이다 편광소멸도와의 비교 (Retrieval of Depolarization ratio using Sunphotometer data and Comparison with LIDAR Depolarization ratio)

  • 본 연구에서는 일본 오사카에서 AERONET 선포토미터로 관측된 데이터를 분석하여 440, 675, 870, 1020 nm 파장에서의 입자 편광소멸도를 산출하였다. 산출된 결과는 같은 지역에서 측정된 라이다 자료로부터 얻어진 532 nm에서의 입자 편광소멸도와 비교하였다. 두 값은 440 nm를 제외하고는 잘 일치되는 결과를 보였고, 상관계수($R^2$)는 440, 675, 870, 1020 nm에서 각각 0.28, 0.81, 0.88 0.89의 값을 보였다. 가장 높은 상관계수를 보인 1020 nm에서의 입자 편광소멸도를 기준으로 값의 변화에 따른 입자의 혼합정도를 확인하였을 때, 순수 황사의 경우 높은 편광소멸도를 보이고 오염입자가 혼합될수록 값이 낮아짐을 보였다. 이는 단산란 알베도와 입자 크기 분포를 통하여 확인하였다.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the model of turbulence modulation due to the presence of particles in various types of particle-laden flows. Available experimental data were surveyed and the dependence of turbulence modulation of carrier-phase on particle size, concentration and particle Reynolds number were examined. This study takes into account the effect of wake produced by particle, the drag between phases and the velocity gradient in the wake to estimate the production of turbulence. The model of turbulence modulation using the mixing length theory under the assumption of equilibrium flow is proposed. Numerical results show that the model is successful in predicting the characteristics of the particle-laden flow in various conditions both qualitatively and quantitatively.
