In the present study, we evaluated the target reliability indices and partial safety factors for caisson sliding of a vertical breakwater. The average of the reliability indices of existing breakwaters was proposed as the target reliability index for the breakwater of normal safety level. The target reliability indices of high and low safety levels were also proposed based on the analysis of breakwaters in Korea and Japan. The partial safety factors were then proposed for each safety level by averaging the values calculated for 12 breakwater crosssections in Korea. The appropriateness of the proposed partial safety factors was partly verified by showing that the reliability index calculated by using the present partial safety factors is located between those of mild and steep bottom slopes of JPHA(2007). The proposed partial safety factors were inversely used to calculate the caisson width and reliability index of existing breakwaters. While the reliability indices of existing breakwaters designed by the deterministic method show a large variation, those designed by the partial safety factor method show a small variation. This indicates that the partial safety factor method allows a consistent design for given target probability of failure.
As there are so many uncertainties associated with using the determinism analysis method in the design of rubble mound breakwater, it is impossible for a designed construction to provide ultimate stability. First of all, due to the uncertainty of Load and Resistance, a safety level concerning the destruction mode of construction must be given. Then, the optimization design should be processed. After all, we can say that it is a more reasonable design method than the design used by the stability rate. In this study, an established design process is accomplished using Hudson's equation and an economic analysis with the breakwater's section is also conducted. Hudson's equation is compared to Van der Meer's equation. These results are utilized to drop a damage rate, increase the stability of construction, and determine the optimization section of the breakwater.

PTS(partial transmit sequences) has been widely studied for reducing the PAPR of OFDM signal, since it is flexible and any spectral regrowth may not occurred. A drawback of this PTS method should transmit the side information of the optimized phase factor for correct OFDM symbol recovery. A new idea of this paper is to insert the feedback type side information in the conventional PTS method. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has the same PAPR reduction performance as the conventional PTS without side information and OFDM data are correctly recovered to get the required BER. Also, this method is independent of the channel characteristics and can be easily realized.
A large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. But these circuits increase number of switch in circuit and complicate sequence of switching operation. In this Paper, the authors propose power conversion system, DC-AC inverter of high efficiency and high power factor with soft switching mode by partial resonant method. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation.
Purpose - This study provides appropriate procedures for EFA to help researchers conduct empirical studies by using PLS-SEM. Research design, data, and methodology - This study addresses the absolute and relative sample size criteria, sampling adequacy, factor extraction models, factor rotation methods, the criterion for the number of factors to retain, interpretation of results, and reporting information. Results - The factor analysis procedure for PLS-SEM consists of the following five stages. First, it is important to look at whether both the Bartlett test of sphericity and the KMO MSA meet the qualitative criteria. Second, PAF is a better choice of methodology. Third, an oblique technique is a suitable method for PLS-SEM. Fourth, a combined approach is strongly recommended to factor retention. PA should be used at the onset. Next, it is recommended using the K1 criterion. In addition, it is necessary to extract factors that increase the total variance explanatory power through the PVA-FS. Finally, it is appropriate to select an item with a factor loading into 0.5 or higher and a communality of 0.5. Conclusions - It is expected that the accurate factor analysis processed for PLS-SEM as previously presented will help us extract more precise factors of the structural model.

Ridge partial least squares regression (RPLS) is a regression method which can be obtained by combining ridge regression and partial least squares regression and is intended to provide better predictive ability and less sensitive to overfitting. In this paper, explicit expressions for the shrinkage factor of RPLS are developed. The structure of the shrinkage factor is explored and compared with those of other biased regression methods, such as ridge regression, principal component regression, ridge principal component regression, and partial least squares regression using a near infrared data set.

Self-Boring Pressuremeter Test(SBPT) is known to be the most effective in-situ test method which can reliably determine consolidation characteristics as well as deformation modules and untrained shear strength. In order to derive the coefficient of consolidation using SBPT results it is necessary to obtain the dissipation behavior from the pore pressure change with time during constant radial strain(generally 10%) and to derive the reliable time factor(Τ) from the analytical method which considers the real in-situ conditions. As previous studies on time factor are based on the assumptions of plane strain condition that the membrane of SBP is infinite, of untrained condition during the expansion of the probe and of elastic soil behavior during consolidation, these analyses can't consider the real boundary conditions and the real soil behaviour. In this study, consolidation analysis similar to real in-situ conditions including test procedure is conducted using finite element program which employs MCC model and Biot theory. Time factor considering the effects of finite membrane length, the total pressure change during consolidation and partial drainage is proposed and compared with previous results.

A method is developed to evaluate partial safety factors for armor units, by which uncertainties of random variables in reliability function as well as wave height distribution with service periods could take into account straightforwardly. It is found that partial safety factors for resistance and wave height are correctly increased with improving target levels on failure of coastal structures at the same return and service periods. Therefore, it nay be possible to determine design variables through the same processes as those of deterministic method by using the partial safety factors for resistance and wave height evaluated in this paper, since uncertainties of random variables and the effects of service periods and target probability failure are directly considered in the processes of evaluation of partial safety factors.
This paper presents a study of the partial circulating current type cycloconverter with a resonant circuit for induction heating. A method of input power factor improvement is proposed. Since the circulating currents flow through the circulating current reactors, the out-put currents are continuous and sinusoid. The proposed cycloconverter can keep the displacement factor at 1.0 by PWM control method regardless of load. The control functions are derived, the operational principles are described and the simulation and experimental results are presented.
A boost converter proposed in this paper operates with high power factor due to input current of sinusoidal waveform. If there were no input LPF, the current is got to be discontinuos form in proportion to AC input voltage magnitude under the constant duty factor switching. Thereupon, the harmonics of input current waveform is reduced and the LPF is made with few elaboration and the control circuit is simple. The switching devices in proposed circuit are operated with soft switching by the partial resonant method. The patial resonant circuit makes use of a reactor using step-up and a capacitor of loss-less snubber. The result is that switching loss is very low and efficiency of system is high.
