The Development and the Effectiveness of a Parenting Coaching Program for Parenting Competence, Empathy, and Parenting Stress in Mothers (어머니의 양육효능감과 공감 증진 및 양육스트레스 감소를 위한 자녀양육코칭 프로그램의 개발과 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is, first, to develop a Parenting Coaching Program to improve parenting competence, and empathy skills, and reduce parenting stress for mothers and second, to examine the program's effectiveness. The program consists of 8 sessions and each session employs a variety of activities and parenting skills to help mothers. The Parenting Sentence of Competence Scale, Empathy Scale, and Parenting Stress Index were used as a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test, respectively. The data was analyzed by the SPSS 16.0 program, which applied the t-test. Twelve mothers participated in eight sessions of the Parenting Coaching Program, and were compared with the control group of twelve mothers who did not receive treatment. The treatment group statistically showed significant improvement in parenting competence, empathy, and a significant decrease in stress level, in comparison to the control group. It was concluded that the Parenting Coaching Program was effective for improving parenting competence, and empathy skills, and reducing stress.

The Effects of Emotional Coaching Parents Education Program on Emotional Reaction Attitude, Parenting Efficacy and Emotional Coaching Style of Mother with Young Children (감정코칭 부모교육 프로그램이 유아기 어머니의 정서반응태도, 양육 효능감 및 감정코칭 양육태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to identify the effects of emotional coaching parents education program on emotional reaction attitude, parenting efficacy and emotional coaching style of mother with young children. A total 60 mother with young children at K city were participated. The collected data were analyzed using t-test. Main results of this study were the experimental group showed significantly better score in the parenting efficacy than the control group after taking program And, the experimental group showed significantly better score in the emotional coaching style than the control group affer taking program. this results suggest that there is a significance in presenting scientific evidence of emotional coaching parents education program.

  • The purpose of this study is to present information about effective parent education method by examining effects of parenting education program on emotional coaching, parenting efficacy, parenting attitude and emotional expression. For this purpose, 43 parents who have a toddler who is financed in H daycare center and Y daycare center in G city of Jeonbuk were selected as research subjects. Among them, twenty - two mothers of infants who are financially supported by H day care center were selected as experiment group and they conducted a total of 8 cycles of emotional coaching parent education program for 120 minutes per week and once a week. For the analysis of collected data, ANCOVA was performed using SPSS 18.0 program. The results were as follows. The parenting program of emotional coaching positively affects mother 's parenting efficacy, parenting attitude and emotional expressiveness. The results of this study can be used as basic data of parent education method which helps the desirable interaction with infant through more specific steps through emotional coaching to parents with toddlers.

Impact of Premarital Coaching (PMC) Intervention using the Psycho-educational Approach on Parenting Self-efficacy of Newly-married Underage Couples: A Narrative Literature Review of Evidence and Feasibility in Indonesia

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the latest evidence for interventions involving adolescent newlyweds, and the feasibility of premarital coaching (PMC). Methods: A narrative literature review design carried out through related studies was used for the present literature review. A diverse search from several databases was performed to create a critical appraisal and to develop a more integrated model for the PMC program. Studies that empirical, written in English, peer-reviewed, and published during 2008~2017 were included. Results: Six articles were selected for the review. The principal findings identified three major themes including underage period as a high-risk for marriage, development tasks of the newly married spouse, parenting self-efficacy and the psycho-educational approach of PMC to enhance parenting knowledge, skills, and readiness. Conclusion: It was found that content of PMC as the preparation of underage married couples were formulated based on coaching technic, various spouse and parenting educations, and adjusted based on couples's preferences. Rigorous studies with measurement of long-term retentions are needed.
