  • This paper presents an adaptive control against uncertainties in tail-controlled STT (Skid-to-Turn) missiles. We derive an analytic uncertainty model from a parametric affine missile model developed by the authors. Based on this analytic model, an adaptive feedback linearizing control law accompanied by a sliding mode control law is proposed. We provide analyses of stability and output tracking performance of the overall adaptive missile system. The performance and validity of the proposed adaptive control scheme are demonstrated by simulation.

  • This paper proposes a combined controller frame of the adaptive robust control(ARC) and the sliding mode control(SMC) for the trajectory tracking control of the excavator to preserve the advantages of the both methods while overcoming their drawbacks, namely, asymptotic stability of adaptive system fir parametric uncertainties and guaranteed transient performance of sliding mode control for both parametric uncertainties and external disturbance. The suggested control technique is applied for the tracking of a straight-line motion of end-effector of manipulators, and through computer simulations, its trajectory tracking performances and the robustness to payload variation and uncertainties are illustrated.

  • The paper is extending output feedback nonlinear control and backstepping approaches to a class of systems approximately diffeomorphic to output feedback systems. The uncertainties under consideration are of two types - parametric and non-parametric. The non-parametric terms are assumed to be bounded by unknown constants. The backstepping procedure is applied to adapt with respect to both parametric uncertainties and the upper bound of non-parametric uncertainties.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear adaptive control method for an EMS(Electro-Magnetic Suspension) system with mass uncertainty is proposed. Using the coordinate transformation and feedback linearizing control, EMS system has been transformed into the form of parametric strict-feedback system with unknown virtual control coefficients. With this transformed system, tuning functions approach, which is an advanced from of adaptive backstepping, has been applied in order to stabilize the system against mass uncertainty. Computer simulation is also carried out in order to compare the performance of the proposed controller with that of feedback linerizing controller.

  • This paper studies the coordinated trajectory control of an excavator as a kind of robotic manipulators driven by hydraulic actuators. Hydraulic robot system has many non-linearity in dynamics and kinematics, and strong coupling among joints(or hydraulic cylinders). This paper proposes a combined controller frame of the adaptive robust control(ARC) and the sliding mode control(SMC) for the trajectory tracking control of the excavator to preserve the advantages of the both methods while overcoming their drawbacks, namely, asymptotic stability of adaptive system for parametric uncertainties and guaranteed transient performance of sliding mode control for both parametric uncertainties and external disturbance. • This paper presents a robustly adaptive flux observer for speed-sensorless induction motor control. The proposed approach employs additional robustifying signals to cope with the parametric uncertainties instead of designing an estimator, which has been normally used in power electronic drives. For that, the sliding-mode like adaptive controls are designed and their gain parameters are determined so that the observer dynamics are stable in the sense of Lyapunov, and furthermore they can guarantee the robustness against parametric uncertainties in induction motor systems. Estimated rotor speed is to be used to generate feedback control signal for the speed sensorless vector control system. To show the validity and efficiency of the proposed system, simulation results are presented.

  • In this paper, using a new adaptive fuzzy controller we have designed a power system stabilizer. The adaptive fuzzy controller constitutes of several parallel fuzzy controller. Each of them can maintain the robust stability for a specified parametric uncertainty region. If the parametric variation is so large that a rule-base cannot cope with that parametric region, the other appropriate rule-base is selected to control. Applying adaptive fuzzy controller to single machine infinite bus system, we simulate the stability of the system and compare the performance with conventional PSS controller.

  • In this paper a adaptive backstepping control scheme is proposed for control of a do motor driving a one-link manipulator. Fuzzy logic systems are used to approximate the unknown nonlinear function including the parametric uncertainty and disturbance throughout the entire electromechanical system. A compensation controller is also proposed to estimate the bound of approximation error. Thus the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop control system can be obtained. Numerical simulations are included to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • This paper presents an adaptive control scheme for parking or regulating a nonholonomic mobile robot of an unicycle type with parameter uncertainty. The kinematics can be described with Brockett's nonholonomic integrator. The control law is designed in cylindrical coordinates together with the estimation law for the uncertain parameters such that the controlled signals converge to zero while guaranteeing the boundedness of the estimation errors. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated using simulations.
