  • Generally, a proportional-resonant controller is used to eliminate steady-state errors during the voltage-current control of a double-conversion uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in a stationary reference frame. Additionally, the feed-forward control compensating for the load current, which can be considered a disturbance of the voltage controller, can be used to improve the disturbance rejection performance. However, during the parallel operation of UPSs, circulating current can occur between UPS modules when performing both feed-forward control and droop control because feed-forward control reduces the circulating current impedance. This study proposes a feed-forward compensation technique that considers the impedance of circulating current. An additional feed-forward compensation technique is developed to enhance the disturbance rejection performance. The validity of the proposed feed-forward compensation technique is verified by the experiment results of the parallel operation of a 500 W double-conversion UPS module.

  • In this paper, a constant frequency phase shifting PWM-controlled voltage source full bridge-type series load resonant high-frequency inverter using the $4^{th}$ generation IGBT power modules is presented for innovative consumer electromagnetic induction heating applications, such as a hot water producer, steamer and super heated steamer. The bridge arm side link passive capacitive snubbers in parallel with each power semiconductor device and AC load side linked active edge inductive snubber-assisted series load resonant tank soft switching inverter with a constant frequency phase shifted PWM control scheme is evaluated and discussed on the basis of the simulation and experimental results. It is proved from a practical point of view that the series load resonant and edge resonant hybrid high-frequency inverter topology, what is called, DE class type, including the variable-power variable-frequency regulation function can expand zero voltage soft switching commutation area even under low output power setting ranges, which is more suitable and acceptable for newly developed induction heated dual pack fluid heaters. Furthermore, even the lower output power regulation mode of this high-frequency load resonant tank inverter circuit is verified so that this inverter can achieve ZVS with the aid of the single auxiliary inductor snubber.

The full bridge arm side link passive quasi-resonant capacitor snubbers in parallel with the each power semiconductor device and high frequency AC load side linked active edge inductive snubber-assisted series load resonant tank soft switching inverter with a constant frequency phase shifted PWM control scheme is discussed and evaluated on the basis of the simulation and experimental results. It is proved from a practical point of view that the series load resonant and edge resonant hybrid high-frequency soft switching PWM inverter topology, what is called class DE type. including the variable-power variable-frequency(VPVF) regulation function can expand zero voltage soft switching commutation range even under low output power setting ranges, which is more suitable and acceptable for induction heated dual packs fluid heater developed newly for consumer power utilizations. • Recently, Contactless Power Supply(CPS) system has been broadly studied as a power supply system for Flat Panel Display(FPD) material transfer equipments. In mass production line, CPS systems on material transfer equipment are applied only in the straight sections with single operating vehicle. The formal CPS system was not adequate for curved section nor multiple operating vehicles. Therefore, this paper presents CPS system that consists of straight and curved section with multiple operation vehicles. The circuit topology of CPS system consists of full bridge configured serial-parallel resonant DC/DC converter. The control method for CPS system consists of duty control method on the primary power supply system to maintain constant resonant current. And the secondary power supply systems of multiple vehicles are self controled to maintain constant output voltage. Practically, the test result of dual vehicles on straight and curved section of material transfer equipments were satisfactory, and proved it's applicability on commercial use.

  • The current study proposes the design of a hybrid series-parallel resonant converter (SPRC) and a three-stage Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier for precisely adjusting the power generated by a continuous wave (CW) $CO_2$ laser. The design of a hybrid SPRC, called LCC resonant converter, is described, and the fundamental approximation of a high-voltage and high-frequency (HVHF) transformer with a resonant tank is discussed. The results of the current study show that the voltage drop and ripple of a three-stage Cockcroft-Walton voltage multiplier depend on frequency. The power generated by a CW $CO_2$ laser can be precisely adjusted by a variable-frequency controller using a DSP (TMS320F2812) microprocessor. The proposed LCC converter could be used to obtain a maximum laser output power of 23 W. Moreover, it could precisely adjust the laser output power within 4.3 to 23 W at an operating frequency range of 187.5 to 370 kHz. The maximum efficiency of the $CO_2$ laser system is approximately 16.5%, and the minimum ripple of output voltage is about 1.62%.

  • In this paper, design procedures and voltage gain characteristics on LLC resonant converter with two transformers are described. Two transformers applied to LLC resonant converter are connected in series at the primary and connected in parallel at the secondary to reduce the unbalance of the primary current. Based on the theoretical analysis and simulation results, considering the characteristics of voltage gain and load variation, prototype of the 400W LLC resonant converter for 50inch PDP TV power module is built and the design procedures through the experimental results are verified.

  • This paper deals with transmission characteristics of a new dual resonant structure for designing waveguide band-pass filter. The structure which has a pass-band between two adjacent stop-bands in a single body consists of circular ridged aperture and four armed conducting patch. The dual resonant behavior of the structure can be represented by a combination of LC series and parallel resonant circuits. Also these resonant properties can be easily controlled by varying the geometry of the aperture and four armed conducting patch. Actually, the structure is fabricated on the microstrip substrate by use of etching technique so that it is formed an iris type resonator which can be easily put into the transverse plane of the waveguide. We use WR-90 standard waveguide, adapters, and VNA(vector network analyzer) to measure the resonant characteristics of the structure. It is very useful to design and to improve the cutoff skirts characteristics in the waveguide band-pass filter design area.

  • The CCFL dimming control methods are generally used lamp current regulation or average current adjustment method feeding the CCFL inverter. Inverter operation frequency is higher than resonant frequency for safe operation. In this study, we design the half-bridge type series and parallel resonant converter circuit that switches at variable frequency modulation methods to control the output power. This method has advantages such as low EMI and reduced harmonics, and it is convenient for dimming control using a microprocessor. The validity of this study is confirmed from the simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper studies a soft switching DC/DC converter to achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) for all switches under a wide range of load condition and input voltage. Two three-level PWM circuits with the same power switches are adopted to reduce the voltage stress of MOSFETs at $V_{in}/2$ and achieve load current sharing. Thus, the current stress and power rating of power semiconductors at the secondary side are reduced. The series-connected transformers are adopted in each three-level circuit. Each transformer can be operated as an inductor to smooth the output current or a transformer to achieve the electric isolation and power transfer from the input side to the output side. Therefore, no output inductor is needed at the secondary side. Two center-tapped rectifiers connected in parallel are used at the secondary side to achieve load current sharing. Due to the resonant behavior by the resonant inductance and resonant capacitance at the transition interval, all switches are turned on at ZVS. Experiments based on a 1kW prototype are provided to verify the performance of proposed converter.

  • When the MOSPET is applied as a switching device for the resonant inverter, a damped oscillating noise is appeared at specific frequency band. This damped Oscillation is caused by the series and parallel resonance due to distributed circuit parameter of snubber and main circuit. This paper describes the frequency-impedance characteristic of the resonant inverter and optimal snubber design strategy to reduce the RF noise.
