  • The AC-LED driving system which is connected directly to alternative current source is suitable for commercialization because of it's simple structure and low cost. However, it requires additional circuits compensating for current differences between the parallel connected LED strings. In this paper, we proposed the circuit compensating for current error of the three LED strings using the Y type balancing transformer. The proposed Half-bridge AC Chopper LED driving system used the ferrite material's balancing transformer. at the same time, it is able to dimming control. The proposed system is applied to 80W AC-LED module consist of three parallel strings. Experiment results present that Power factor and THD measured with power analyzer are 0.958 and 26.473% respectively satisfied with IEC61000-3-2 harmonics standard.

  • This paper presents a current-balancing circuit for security lights that uses parallel-connected LEDs. The parallel connection of LEDs causes current differences between the LED strings because of characteristic deviations. These differences can reduce the lifespan of a particular point of LEDs by thermal spotting. They can also cause non-uniform luminance of the lighting device. Among the different methods for solving these problems, the method using current-balancing transformers makes it easy to compensate for current differences and it has a simple circuitry. However, while the balancing transformer has been applied to AC light sources, LEDs operate on a DC source, so the driving circuitry and the design method have to be changed and their performances must be verified. Thus in this paper, a design method of the balancing transformer network and the driving circuitry for LEDs is proposed. The proposed design method could have a smaller size than the conventional design method. The proposed circuitry is applied to three types of 100-watt LED security lights, which use different LEDs. Experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the designed driving circuits.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which a human being feels as if the one drives a vehicle actually. Driving Operation System acts as an interface between a driver and a driving simulator. This paper suggests the driving operation system for a driving simulator. This system consists of a controller, DC geared motor, MR brake, rotary encoders, steeping motor and bevel gear box. Reaction force and torque on the steering system were made by DC_Motor and MR_Brake. Reaction force and torque on the steering system were compare between real car and a driving simulator. The controller based on the 80C196KC micro processor that manage and transfer signal.

  • This paper describes a driving scheme of the series hybrid electric vehicle that we have developed. Both series HEV and parallel HEV are well known. We chose series HEV because it provides good energy efficiency in urban driving and operates in all-electric mode in performance. And engine-Generator is driven at constant speed with constant load to maintain the low emission. And the battery supplies power during high-load and receive energy during low-load

  • BLDC Motor is used in robots requiring a precisive motion recently. This paper presents the optimal design reducing the rotor inertia in order to improve the driving characteristic of BLDC motor driving robots, The optimal design was performed by using a parallel Genetic Algorithm which is superior at searching objective functions for the comflicated models having several optimal points. Therefore, objective function for optimization is rotor inertia and efficiency.

  • In SRM driving, the current rate is directly related to the rate of switching device and in cost reduction, the Parallel switching operation is the alternatives because it has the smaller current rate through current division. There ire many investigations for the parallel switching operations to equaling the current division. However it remains many problems for practical usage. The reason Is that the switching characteristics are mainly relied on the different saturation voltage of each device etc. and these factors are not altered by a circuit designer. In order to compensate this problem, a proper resistance is experimently inserted to the switching device. But this method can not be the optimal solution. Therefore this paper propose a new parallel operation of SRM which uses a parallel phase winding to remove the traditional effect of switching device such as saturation voltage according to the division of current. Also the reliable and stable driving is improved through experiments and the detailed principles.

  • This paper describes the load parallel type full-bridge high frequency resonant inverter can be used as power source. Output control method of proposed circuit is compared with pulse frequency modulation(PFM), pulse width modulation(PWM) and pulse phase variation(Phase-Shift). The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. The principle of basic operating and the its characteristics are estimated according to the parameters such as switching frequency(${\mu}$), pulse width($\theta$d) the variation of phase angle($\phi$) by three driving signal patterns. Experimental results are presented to verify the theoretical analysis result. In future, Characteristics by three driving signal control method is provided as useful data in case of output control of a power supply in various fields as induction heating application, DC-DC converter etc.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the driving performance and workload according to changing driving environment and types of steering wheel. Twelve drivers who participated in this study consisted of two groups; six Japanese as the left-lane drivers who was accustomed to driving on left-hand side of the road, and six Europeans, Americans, and Korean as the right-lane drivers who was accustomed to driving on right-hand side of the road. They were asked to operate a driving simulator while using two different types of steering wheel (for the left-hand side driving and the right-hand side driving). During the experiment, a range of data were measured including driving performance, mental workload, and eye movements which were recorded in order to identify the amount of time looking towards the in-vehicle route guidance. Results indicated that the use of the steering wheel by parallel moving led to increase high attentional demand and worse glance behavior to traffic signs for the left-lane drivers. In the case of the right-lane drivers, the effects by changing driving direction were more effective than the types of steering wheel due to their habit or traits.

  • Parallel combination of cold chathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) are widely used as the light sources of LCD TV backlight. Brightness uniformity is safisfied by using one transformer per one CCFL. Instead of using one transformer per oneCCFL, one transformer is used to drive 8 CCFLs by using differential driving method. A differential driving inverter with two transformers is developed to drive 16 CCFLs of 26' backlight for LCD TV. The brightness uniformity of $88\%$ was obtained by driving 26' backlight with the developed differential driving inverter successfully.

  • Big data information and pattern analysis have applications in many industrial sectors. To reduce energy consumption effectively, the eco-driving method that reduces the fuel consumption of vehicles has recently come under scrutiny. Using big data on commercial vehicles obtained from digital tachographs (DTGs), it is possible not only to aid traffic safety but also improve eco-driving. In this study, we estimate fuel consumption efficiency by processing and analyzing DTG big data for commercial vehicles using parallel processing with the MapReduce mechanism. Compared to the conventional measurement of fuel consumption using the On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II) device, in this paper, we use actual DTG data and OBD-II fuel consumption data to identify meaningful relationships to calculate fuel efficiency rates. Based on the driving pattern extracted from DTG data, estimating fuel consumption is possible by analyzing driving patterns obtained only from DTG big data.
